His mother was a Quaker, and his father converted from Methodism to Quakerism after his marriage. Nixon campaign with the notion that “new leadership will end the war and win the peace in the Pacific.” Nixon defeated his Democratic opponent Hubert Humphrey by nearly 500,000 votes to become the 37th President of the United States on November 5th ,1968.

Before the peace treaty was signed in 1973 this dreadful war ended the life of thousands of American soldiers and lakhs of innocent Vietnamese.

In the light of his lost political and public support and near certainty of impeachment, Nixon resigned from the office of Presidency on August 9,1974.
