Oath Taking Horoscope of C. Joseph Vijay – Will he complete his tenure as Tamil Nadu chief minister ?

On Sunday, May 10th , 2026, marked a truly historic day for the politics of Tamil Nadu, a state in India’s far south. Since 1967, power in the state had alternated exclusively between the DMK and the AIADMK, with no other party able to establish a strong political foothold. Now, for the first time in nearly 50 years, a new political party—Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)—has ascended to the power and  running the government. When Chandrasekharan Joseph Vijay took the oath as the state’s Chief Minister at 10:18 AM on  Sunday 10th of  May —falling on the ‘Ashtami’ (eighth day) of the ‘Krishna Paksha’  (waning Moon phase) under the ‘Dhanishtha Nakshatra’, ‘Brahma Yoga’, and ‘Kaulava Karana’—the ‘Mithuna Lagna’ (Gemini Ascendant) was rising in its final degrees; coincidentally, the Moon was also positioned in the last degrees of the ‘Makara Rashi’ (Capricorn sign), precisely at the ‘Rashi Sandhi’ (the junction point between zodiac signs).

According to standard astrological principles, the transitional periods (Sandhi Kaal) of the Ascendant , the Moon and the natural  malefic planets  are generally avoided when selecting an auspicious time (‘Muhurat’) for an event. The ‘Rajaya Abhishek Adhyay’ of classical  text Vriddha Vashishta Samhita says that natural  malefic in the ending degrees of a  Rashi are very bad at  the time  of  king’s ascendancy to the throne. 
However, it appears that Thalapathy Vijay was either extremely eager to form the government quickly or feared that his opponents might exploit any delay, as his first government in  the state assembly is  relied on the support of smaller parties. The apprehension  that opposition can derail his ambition of becoming Chief Minister altogether must have forced him to choose this  Muhurata just after  6 days after the declaration  of  the  results for  Tamil Nadu assembly polls on  the 4th  of  May 2026.

Let us examine the oath-taking horoscope and the birth chart of Vijay—an actor-turned-Chief Minister popularly known among fans as ‘Thalapathy’ (Commander)—to see if he can successfully prove run his government in  the state for full  5 years terms ?  And  can he match the stature of his predecessors—stalwarts like N.T. Rama Rao, Jayalalithaa, and M.G. Ramachandran—who also transitioned from cinema to politics in South India?
In the oath taking horoscope  of Joseph C. Vijay  (chart 1)  the  noticeable feature is the  last degrees of the rising sign of ascendant, the Moon  and also  of natural  malefic  Mars. The natural malefic at the 10th  house at the  tine  of ‘Rajya  Abhishek’ or  ascendancy  to the throne are bad for the king or ruler  as  per Vriddha Vashishta  Samhita

The presence of Jupiter in the Ascendant, combined with Mercury (the Ascendant lord) joining the exalted Sun in the eleventh house of gains, will help cultivate an image of Vijay—Tamil Nadu’s new Chief Minister—as a people’s  friendly and untainted politician. However, the Moon is positioned in Capricorn during the oath-taking ‘Muhurat’; with no major planets flanking it, an inauspicious ‘Kemdruma Yoga’ is formed. Furthermore, the malefic planet Rahu is situated in the sign immediately following the Moon, which is unfavorable. In the oath-taking chart, the presence of malefic planets in the tenth house (representing governance and authority)—both in the ‘Rashi’ and ‘Navamsha’ charts—indicates that Vijay will face significant difficulties in fulfilling his major populist election promises.

The state’s rising fiscal deficit could become a major headache for him as he attempts to fulfill promises such as providing 8 grams of gold to poor women, a monthly allowance of ₹2,500 to economically disadvantaged women under the age of 60, unemployment allowances for the youth, six free LPG cylinders for poor families, and special financial aid for farmers and fishermen. In the swearing-in chart, the movement of the lord of the second house (wealth) into the eighth house, combined with Saturn’s aspect on Venus in the twelfth house (expenditure), indicates that heavy spending on populist schemes could deteriorate the state’s economic health.

In the Navamsha and  Dasmasha of the oath taking horoscope (chart 1)  Jupiter goes into  the 12th  house of expenditure. The influence  of  natural  malefic  planets on the  Jupiter falling into the 12th  house in Navamsha  and Dashamasha of the  oath taking chart of Joseph  Vijay is a  clear  astrological indication of  his coming struggle  in managing  the  financial  conditions  of the  state exchequer  due to  heavy expenditure  on  the welfare schemes.  In Vimshottari the Dasha  of  Mars and Anter Dasha of Venus from  April 2028 to June  2029  in the oath  taking chart of chief  minister  Joseph C. Vijay  shows major troubles  for his government.

Vijay Likely to Face Troubles Stemming from Personal Life Disputes

The horoscope of Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar (born June 22, 1974, at 9:25 AM in Chennai, Tamil Nadu)—popularly known simply as Vijay—features the Cancer Ascendant. A significant ‘Rajyoga’ is formed  through the conjunction of the lagna lord the Moon and the lord of the ninth house Mars . As  per ‘Bhavarth Ratnakar’  the conjunction  of  the Moon  and Mars  gives good  results in  the lagna and/or  8th house.  In his birth chart, Venus—the significant of cinema—is positioned in the house of gains (‘Labha Sthana’) within its own sign, Taurus. Jupiter  the lord of the 6th  house  placed  in  the  8th  house is forming a  Vipreet Raja Yoga. Also,  Jupiter  being the  9th  lord  in the 8th  house receiving the 8th aspect  of Yogakaraka Mars is producing a Raja  Yoga which  gives surprise gains  to  him.

In Vijay’s birth chart, Jupiter—as the lord of the 6th house (disputes) and the 9th house (fortune)—is positioned in the 8th house (sudden gains). There, it forms a ‘Vipreet Rajyoga’ (a yoga of unexpected success arising from adversity) by receiving the aspect of Mars, which is a ‘Yogakaraka’ planet ruling both the 4th house (throne/power) and the 10th house (governance/state). Additionally, Saturn—ruling the 8th house (disputes) and the 7th house (spouse)—is situated in the 12th house (house of loss), where it is combust due to the Sun, creating another ‘Vipreet Rajyoga’. It was this ‘Vipreet Rajyoga’ that brought him extraordinary success, first in cinema and subsequently in politics. However, the absence of his wife and children at his swearing-in ceremony, contrasted with the close proximity of his female friend and renowned film actress Trisha Krishnan, came as a surprise to some of his fans.
In the birth chart of Vijay  (chart 2)  the enigmatic Vimshottari Dasha of Venus and  Anter Dasha of  Jupiter is running from 24 April 2026 to 23rd of December 2028.  From  the Maha Dasha  lord  Venus the  Anter Dasha  lord Jupiter  is placed in the 10th  house  in Rashi.  In Navamsha Jupiter  is placed in  the 5th house from Venus  and  in  Dashamasha it is  placed in the 9th  house from it.  In  all the Varga charts Jupiter and  Venus are  well placed  with  respect  to each other so their Dasha-Bhukti is likely  to be good.

Enigmatic  Venus-Saturn  period of  Vijay

But the next Anter Dasha would be  of  Saturn  in the Maha Dasha  of Venus.  The Venus-Saturn or Saturn-Venus Dasha periods are well  known  to  bring reversals. It has been  observed  by  my astrologer friend Vijayender Vijay  that if  Venus is in the Navamsha of Saturn  or Saturn  in  the Navamsha of  Venus  then  such Venus-Saturn  or  Saturn-Venus  periods in  Vimshottari could be  very difficult for the  native.  In case  of Tamil Nadu chief  minister  Vijay  Venus is placed in  the Navamsha  of Saturn.  In the Venus  Dasha and Saturn  Anter Dasha during December 2028  to February 2032 there will be  major losses foreseen  for him.  As  per  Uttarkaal  Amrit if the  Anter Dasha lord  is strong in  case  of Saturn-Venus  or Venus-Saturn periods  then major losses are  predicted. This  rule  also applies  here as  the Anter Dasha lord Saturn is in  own Navamsha  and is exalted  in Dashamsha. So, the  Anter Dasha of Saturn in the  Maha Dasha  of Venus for   Joseph  C.  Vijay could  be  bad for  his political career  from  December 2028  to February 2032 period.
A combined astrological analysis of the swearing-in chart and the birth chart suggests that Vijay will be able to run his government well  for  about 4 years in the  the Tamil Nadu  state; however, later on he will  face deep disappointment due to certain uncomfortable actions taken by his allies. Due to the inauspicious ‘Vimshottari Dasha’ of Mars in the swearing-in chart, corruption allegations against some of his ministers could cause him significant distress, yet his own image as a politician will remain untarnished. The transformative Anter Dasha  of Jupiter within the major period of Venus, currently active in his birth chart, indicates that the next two years could be highly inauspicious for his married life. Furthermore, after the year 2028, during the Anter Dasha  of Saturn within the major period of Venus, Vijay could face a major political setback.
