USA (15 times), France (once in 1900), Great Britain ( in 1908), Germany (in 1936), Soviet Union (6 times) and China (in 2008) had ranked top in the medal table. Since last 20 years USA and China had been competing for number one rank in the Summer Olympics though China had only succeed to get rank 1 in 2008 Beijing games.
