Planets and Education in Computer Science

Computer science is the study of algorithms and data structure required for the design and implementation for the computer hardware and software. A subject of computer engineering combines the elements of both electronics engineering and computer science. In the field of computer science engineering various specializations are available like data science, cybersecurity and cloud computing. As per a news report the data from the “All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)” suggest that enrollment in B.Tech programs has hit eight years high in the 2024-25 academic session in India with a 67% jump from year 2017-18. Computer science and engineering topped the list of programmes with the highest enrolment (3,90,245), followed by mechanical engineering (2,36,909) – {Refer link – https://indianexpress.com/article/education/aicte-data-btech-seats-fill-fast-as-computer-science-drives-enrolment-to-eight-year-high-10166287/ }.

As per my teacher Shri K.N. Rao, ‘ in the study of computer science the role of the Sun (electricity, electrons & light), Mars or Saturn (engineering), Mercury (communication, data and information processing) and Ketu (computer languages and programming) is to be studied with fiery signs (1,5 and 9) and/or airy signs (3, 7 and 11)’. I have studied more than 30 horoscopes of computer science engineers, and have found this rule working in their Rasi, Navamsa and Chathurvimsamsa (D-24) charts.

In Jaimini Sutram Adhyay 1- Pada 2 by Professor B. Suryanarayan Rao the Sutra number 97 ‘Ketuna ghatikayanthree’ mention that, ‘If Ketu joins the 4^th from Karakamsa, the person becomes skilful in preparing clocks, watches and other time indicating machines. So, as per Jaimini Ketu is the significant of fine technology. For Rahu the Sutra 99 of the same chapter discuss, ‘Rahuna lohayantree’ i.e. If 4^th from the Karakamsha is occupied by Rahu, then native will become proficient in preparing machinery out of metals or a clever mechanic. Role of Rahu has been found to be more prominent in the horoscopes of mechanical engineers along with Saturn which rules machines.

The 4^th or 5^th which house for education ?

Sage Parashara in his Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra’s  ‘Bhava Vivek Adhyay’ , Chapter number 12 in  Sloka 6 has clearly mentioned that education is to be seen from the 5^th house only. The 9^th house being the 5^th from the 5^th as per the ‘Bhavartha Bhavam’ principal is the secondary house for reckoning the education. But Jataka Parijat takes the 4^th house for the education though it doesn’t mention 7^th house as the secondary house for education although as per the ‘Bhavartha Bhavam rule’ if you take the 4^th house for the education then 4^th from the 4^th i.e. 7^th house should be the secondary house for reckoning education in the horoscope?.

I have found results by only taking 5^th house for the education prospects and the 9^th house as the secondary house for the same as per the Parashari rules.

Now let’s see some birth charts of the native’s who have done their education in computer science and are working in the same field only.

Chart 1. Male: Born September  16, 1979 at 05h. 15m. at 79E 58’, 14N 26’ with a balance of 3 years 10 months 19 days of the Jupiter Dasha  at birth.

The Leo lagna horoscope (chart 1) of this Male native is the first example I am taking for studies in computer science. He went to Dublin, Ireland in November 2001 during his Saturn Dasha  and Jupiter Anter Dasha  to pursue his masters in computer science. At present he is working in abroad in the field of information technology only. See the 5^th lord Jupiter is in fiery sign Sagittarius in the Nakshatra of Ketu in Magha. Technical planets the Sun and Saturn have joined 5^th lord Jupiter and they are in Rahu-Ketu axis only. He took admission in masters in computer science during Saturn Maha Dasha  and Jupiter Anter Dasha . He completed his course during Mercury Maha Dasha  which started from August 2002. Mercury is the natural karaka for communication data and information processing.

Now see the Navamsha  chart of the native where the 5^th house of education has Mercury getting the aspect of technical planets Mars and Saturn which both gave him engineering degree. The 9^th house lord of higher education is Venus which is in airy sign Aquarius along with Ketu and getting the aspect of Mars.

In Chaturvimsamsa  (D-24) the 5^th house is in Rahu-Ketu axis and the aspect of the Sun and Mars on it ensure technical education. Mercury is in fiery sign Leo in Chaturvimsamsa  which is good to pursue engineering in computer science.

 

Chart 2. Male: Born February  8, 1985 at 16h. 40m. at 80E 17’, 13N 05’ with a balance of 2 years 5 months 21 days of the Sun Dasha  at birth

This Cancer lagna male native (chart 2) has done P.H.D. in computer science in USA and is working there as software engineer. In his birth chart the 5^th house has watery sign with technical planet Saturn in it. The lord of the 5^th house is Mars which is in watery sign but in the Nakshatra of Saturn which is good for pursuing engineering. Buy why computer engineering only ? See, the depositor of Ketu, which is Venus is with Mars the 5^th lord which gave him study in computer science.

It was during the Maha Dasha  of Rahu (from July 2004 to July 2022) when he studied computer science and secure a good career in IT industry. Rahu is in the fiery sign Aires at the 10^th house of career. The depositor of Rahu is Mars which is in the 9^th house of higher education.

In Navamsha  Rahu is in the 5^th house in fiery sign Sagittarius and is getting aspect by Mercury. In Chaturvimsamsa  (D-24) Rahu is in the 9^th house of higher education and its depositor the Moon is with technical planet Saturn. The 5^th house in Chathurvimsamsha has Mars and the Sun in mutual aspect with Mercury which rules communication, data and information processing.

 

Chart 3. Female : Born September  25, 1991 at 12h. 08m. at 76E 34’, 28N 54’ with a balance of 7 years 3 months 21 days of the Mercury Dasha  at birth.

The Scorpio lagna horoscope (chart 3) is of a female who did her B.Tech in computer science in year 2014 when she was under Venus  Dasha  and Rahu Anter Dasha . In her birth chart 5^th lord Jupiter is in fiery sign Leo in the Nakshatra of Ketu in Magha. Ketu is in airy sign Gemini and his depositor Mercury is giving aspect to the 5^th house of education along with the Sun and Mars. In her chart Saturn aspect the 5^th house gave her engineering. In Navamsha  Mars is the depositor of Ketu and its aspect the 5^th lord Mercury confirming our hypothesis.

In Chaturvimsamsa  (D-24) Capricorn sign rise and the lagna lord  Saturn is in fiery sign Sagittarius along with technical planet Mars and both of them are in mutual aspect with the 5^th lord Venus which is in airy sign Gemini. Role of Saturn and Mars in fiery sign confirms engineering and both of them aspect the 5^th lord Venus which is in sign of Mercury which is a crucial planet for computer engineering. Here Ketu (computer language) is along with Mercury in the Chaturvimsamsa  chart. She works in the IT field as computer engineer since completing her B.Tech in 2014.

 

Chart 4. Steve Wozniak  : Born October  11, 1950 at 09h. 45m. at 121W 53’, 37N 20’ with a balance of 5 years 0 months 13 days of the Mars Dasha  at birth.

The Scorpio lagna horoscope (chart 4) given here is of Steve Wozniak who was the co-founder of ‘Apple Computer’ with his early business partner Steve Jobs. He is widely recognized as one of the pioneers of personal computer revolution. He is a self-taught computer engineer who start developing Apple in 1975 along with Steve Jobs. He also worked with human-computer interface expert Jef Raskin in development of Macintosh Software concepts during 1979 to 1981. He left Apple Computer in 1985 and formed his own company CL 9. All, this happen during his Maha Dasha  of 5^th lord Jupiter which is in airy sign Aquarius in the Nakshatra of Mars and get the aspect of Mars also. Jupiter Dasha  was from October 1973 to October 1989 which gave him worldwide fame for his inventions.

Noticeable point in the birth chart of Steve Wozniak is the aspect of 5 planets on the 5^th house of creativity. Saturn, Mercury and the Sun giving aspect to the 5^th house along with Ketu in conjunction made him a very successful computer engineer. The 10^th house from the lagna and the Moon getting the strong aspect of Jupiter gave him worldwide fame. As per the Jaimini system Atamakaraka the Moon is Vargottama in Virgo. The placement of Mercury and Saturn in his Karakamsha lagna Virgo sign and their Jaimini aspect on the 10^th house is a yoga for fame in his chart.

In Navamsha  Ketu (computer language) is in the sign of Saturn who is placed in the 5^th house of education. In Chaturvimsamsa  (D-24) the Sagittarius sign is rising and the 5^th lord Mars is with Saturn,  and they are in mutual aspect with Mercury showing engineering skills in computer science.

In Dashamasa (D-10) Virgo sign is rising and Ketu is in the 10^th house of career. Ketu’s depositor and 10^th lord Mercury is in fiery sign Leo getting the aspect of Mars shows his career in computer engineering field.

 

 

Chart 5. Bill Gates : Born October  28, 1955 at 22h. 00m. at 122W 19’, 47N 36’ with a balance of 2  years 4 months 14 days of the Saturn Dasha  at birth.

The Cancer lagna horoscope (chart 5) is of Bill Gate who is consider as the pioneer of computer software and microprocessors revolution during 1970’s and 1980’s. He co-founded his software company Microsoft in 1975 with his childhood friend Paul Allen. In 1973 he enrolled at Harvard University which he took classes of Maths and Graduate level computer science courses. But he dropped out in 1975 and co-founded Microsoft then. It was the Maha Dasha   of Ketu from March 1975 to March 1982 he started getting recognized for his inventions of computer software’s. Ketu is the significant of computer languages and programming. Ketu is in the 11^th house of gains in the Nakshtra of Mars in Mrigsira in the birth chart of Bill Gates.

The 5^th lord Mars is with Mercury in birth chart made him a computer professional. In Navamsha  the 5^th house is getting the aspect of Saturn and Mars which signify engineering skills. In Chaturvimsamsa  Mercury is in the 5^th house and the 5^th lord Saturn is in the sign of Mercury. Although he didn’t acquire any formal education in computer science but he had become a billionaire in 1987 at the age of 31 in computer software and microprocessors business only.

Becoming the Richest Man of the World

Forbes Magazine ranked Bill Gates as the world’s richest person for 18 out of 24 years between 1995 and 2017. As per the Forbes Bill Gates net worth stood at USD 115.1 billion as on May 2025 making him the thirteenth-richest individual in the world. In his Cancer lagna birth chart the Yogakaraka Mars, which is 5^th and 10^th lord, is in mutual aspect with the lagna lord the Moon which is a major Raja Yoga and Dhana Yoga in this horoscope. Also notice the aspects of as many as 5 planets on the 10^th house of career; Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus and the Sun aspect the 10^th house in the birth chart of Bill Gates. The aspect of an unafflicted Jupiter on the 10^th house from the lagna and the Moon both  has also made him a famous philanthropist. Jupiter powerfully influencing the 10^th house in Navamsha  and Dashamasa has made him run the world largest charitable organization ‘Gates Foundation’ which work to eradicate transmissible diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis and polio.

Bill Gates has received numerous honours and accolades for his charitable work during his Moon Dasha  (March 2008 to March 2018) and now in Mars Dasha  (March 2018 to March 2025). The Moon and Mars are not only making a great Raja Yoga in Rashi but they are also very strong in Navamsha  and Dashamasa charts respectively.

 

Chart 6. Male : Born July  26, 1995 at 14h. 22m. at 77E 13’, 28N 40’ with a balance of 10  years 0 months 17 days of the Jupiter Dasha  at birth.

The Scorpio lagna horoscope (chart 6) is of a male native who did his B.Tech in computer science from Bits Pilani and later featured in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2022 list for his work as a co-funder of Flam, an Augmented Reality (AR) based social media network for user-generated videos. In his Scorpio lagna chart he has technical planet Saturn in the 5^th house of creativity which is in mutual aspect with Mars showing engineering. Mars is the depositor of Ketu so the aspect of Mars on the 5^th house of education also have an influence of Ketu which signify computer science.

In Navamsha  the 5^th lord Mars is getting the aspect of Mercury and also the Sun (electronics and light). In Navamsha  Mercury is the depositor of Ketu thus the 5^th lord Mars getting aspect by Mercury also come under the indirect influence of Ketu.

In Chaturvimsamsa  (D-24) chart Mercury is in the 5^th house of education and the 5^th lord Jupiter is in fiery sign Aries. Ketu is with Saturn a technical planet in who’s Maha Dasha  he completed his B.Tech in computer science in year 2018.

Noticeable point in his birth chart is the aspect of 5^th lord Jupiter on the 10^th lord the Sun which gave him fame in a creative area of video based Augmented Reality software. In Navamsha  and Dashamasa Jupiter aspect the 10^th house of fame. In Saturn Dasha  and Jupiter Anter Dasha  in year 2022 he was featured in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list.
