Owing to a decades-long history of Dravidian nationalism, Tamil identity, and opposition to Hindi, the politics of the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu differ significantly from those of other Indian states. Following India’s independence, the anti-Hindi movement gained momentum in Tamil Nadu; to this day, the state imparts education in its government schools exclusively in Tamil and English—a practice distinct from the three-language policy adopted by other states. Two major regional parties—the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK)—have maintained their dominance over the state’s politics for decades. The foundation horoscope of DMK indicates that during this assembly elections in 2026 in Tamil Nadu they have the best chance to form the government again.
Cinema artists have exerted a profound influence on Tamil Nadu’s politics. Meanwhile, Vijay—the biggest superstar of Tamil cinema—has retired from films and has now plunged into electoral politics.
Chart 1. Foundation Horoscope of TVK ( Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam) Party
2 February 2024, 13:13 hours at Chennai, Tamil Nadu
Tamil Cinema’s Super Star Vijay (Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar) formed his party TVK on 2nd of February 2024 on Krishna Saptami Tithi (the 7th lunar day of darker half) Friday when the Moon was in Swati Nakshatra. The rising sign was Taurus (Vrishabha) which is a fixed sign but it don’t get aspect by any natural benefic planet. The lagna lord Venus falls in the 8th house along with ‘Maraka’ Mars which is the lord of the 7th house and also the 12th house of losses.
The Moon is in Kemadruma Yoga as no planet is posted on either side of her or in conjunction with her. But the aspect of Jupiter on the Moon forms a decent ‘Gaja Kesari Yoga’. Since the Moon and its sign lord Venus both are getting the auspicious aspect by Jupiter so the image of the party and its leader actor Vijay shall remain good in general. But the conjunction of the 10th lord Saturn in close degrees with Gulika is not good. Also, Saturn aspect the 12th house in Rashi, Navamsha and Dashamasha which is not good.
The Vimshottari Dasha of Rahu and Bhukti of Mercury from August 2025 to March 2028 is good. Mercury as the 5th lord is in conjunction with the 4th lord the Sun is making a decent Raja Yoga. During Rahu Dasha Mercury Anter Dasha and Venus Pratyanter Dasha from February 2026 to July 2027 party’s performance in the assembly elections will be decent only. They will not win election but TVK is likely to become an important player in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections 2026.
Chart 2. Annual Horoscope of TVK for completed year 2
In the annual horoscope of TVK (chart 2) the Scorpio sign rise which is the 7th house of her birth ascendant. The Muntha (Progressed lagna) is in the 9th house and the Muntha lord is strongly placed along with it which is good. The Muntha and its lord the Moon are getting aspect by Mars, the Sun, Venus and Mercury which is good. The Yogini Dasha of Jupiter (Dhanya) -Mercury (Bhadrika) is running (December 2025 to May 2026) which is average only as the Dasha lords are relating with the 8th house in annual horoscope. So, Vijay’s TVK performance will be average only.
Chart 3. Foundation Horoscope of AIADMK (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam)
The AIADMK Party was founded on 17th of October 1972, 19:51 hours at Madurai, Tamil Nadu by then super star M.G. Ramachandran as a break away group from DMK party. M.G. Ramachandran was earlier expelled by then DMK chief M. Karunanidhi and was forced to flout a new party. It was the charisma of Tamil cinema’s superstar M.G. Ramachandran that made AIADMK won three consecutive assembly elections in 1977, 1980 and also in 1985. After the death of M.G. Ramachandran in December 1987 the party was led by J. Jayalalithaa from January 1988. Jayalalithaa later served as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu on many occasions and her rift with DMK chief M. Karunanidhi is most famous story of Indian politics.
In the foundation horoscope of AIADMK (chart 3) a fixed sign Taurus is rising at the ascendant and the Yogakaraka Saturn is placed in it. The lagna lord Venus is in the 4th house in royal and fixed sign Leo. As per Jaimini system the Atamakaraka is Saturn which get the Jaimini aspect by Amatayakaraka the Moon and also 5th lord Mercury and the Darakaraka the Sun which is a major Raja Yoga of Jaimini. It was no surprise that AIADMK is one of the must successful party in Tamil Nadu state.
Adverse Vimshottari Dasha of AIADMK
At present AIADMK is under Saturn Maha Dasha and Mars Anter Dasha from June 2025 to July 2026. Saturn is Yogakaraka planet for AIADMK’s Taurus lagna chart but Anter Dasha lord Mars is ‘Maraka’ as the 7th lord and it also take the lordship of the 12th house of losses. In Navamsha Mars is in the 6th house along with the 12th lord Jupiter there which is not good. In Dashamasha Mars is in the 10th house of power but it is in conjunction with 8th lord the Sun which is debilitated in Libra. Thus, the Anter Dasha of Mars is not very much favorable thogh AIADMK is definitely going to increase her vote share and number of seats also as compare to her performance in last assembly elections in 2021. Mars is the lord of the 11th house from the Moon and is placed in the 9th house from the Moon which shows a better performance of AIADMK though they may miss to get a clear victory.
A weak annual horoscope of AIADMK
The annual horoscope for completed year 53 for AIADMK (chart 4) is weak as Scorpio sign rise there and we have the Sun, Mercury and Mars in the 12th house of losses. Muntha (progressed lagna) falls in the 12th house of losses and the Muntha lord Venus is debilitated and is also afflicted by the aspect of retrograde Saturn.
Chart 4. Annual horoscope of AIADMK
If we super impose the Vimshottari Dasha of Saturn and Anter Dasha of Mars in the annual horoscope then a grim picture appears for AIADMK. Saturn and Mars are in 6/8 from each other in the annual horoscope which is not desirable. In Yogini Dasha the major period of Saturn (Ulka) and the Sub period of the Sun (Pingla) is running which is also not good in the annual horoscope of AIADMK. Thus, as per our humble assessment AIADMK may not succeed to win assembly elections in Tamil Nadu in 2026.
Chart 5. Foundation Horoscope of DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam)
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) was formed on 17th of September 1949, 13:30 hours at Chennai, Tamil Nadu by C.N. Annadurai as a breakaway from Dravidar Kahzagam of Periyar. It was under Annadurai DMK had then become the first ever party other then the Congress to win a state election with clear majority back in 1967. He was the chief minister of Tamil Nadu from 1967 to 1969. M. Karunanidhi then succeeded Annadurai in 1969 as DMK chief and he was at this position till his death on 7th of August 2018. At present the chief minister M.K. Stalin is leading the DMK and he is eying on to get re-elected for this post.
In the Sagittarius lagna birth chart of DMK (chart 5) we have a decent Gajakesari Yoga as Jupiter is in the ascendant and it is in Kendra (square) from the Moon. Also, the conjunction of the 9th lord the Sun with the 10th lord Mercury in the 10th house is a major Raja Yoga in the chart of DMK. As per Jaimini system Atamakaraka Jupiter is Vargottama in Sagittarius which which is good. Also, the aspect of Amatayakaraka Mercury on the Atamakaraka Jupiter, Janma lagna and Karakamsha lagna Sagittarius is excellent Raja Yoga for DMK.
The Vimshottari Dasha of Venus and Anter Dasha of Ketu is running in the foundation horoscope of DMK from August 2025 to October 2026. Venus is good in own sign in the 11th house from the lagna and the 5th from the Moon. The Anter Dasha lord Ketu, though falls in the 12th from Maha Dasha lord Venus, is in Kendra (square) from the both lagna and the Moon which is fine.
Venus is strongly placed in the 5th house of Navamsha and Ketu is also good in Navamsha lagna. Venus-Ketu-Jupiter period shall be running from 22nd of April 2026 onwards which is good for DMK.
Chart 6. Annual Horoscope of DMK
In the annual horoscope of DMK (chart 6) Gemini ascendant is rising. The Muntha is in the 11th house of gains and it is getting the aspect by the Muntha lord Mars. Other than this the 10th lord is in the lagna in annual horoscope of DMK is good also the Moon is also strong in the 2nd house. There is no planet in ‘Dusthana’ (6th, 8th and 12th) in the annual horoscope of DMK which is also good. The Vimshottari Dasha lord Venus and Ketu are good in the 3rd house of DMK. In Yogini Jupiter Dasha and the Sun Bhukti is running in the chart of DMK at the time of elections which is also good as both planets are in mutual Kendra in the annual horoscope.
Thus, DMK can win the Tamil Nadu assembly elections 2026 this year.
