Total Solar Eclipse of 12 August 2026 – What it foretells ?

August 9, 2026 By Sachin Malhotra

A total solar eclipse will be visible across most European countries on the 12th of August,  Wednesday. Although this eclipse—occurring while the Sun is in the ‘Ashlesha Nakshatra’  within the Cancer zodiac sign—will not be visible anywhere in India. But due to a significant transit of  various  planets major weather-related and social changes are anticipated in India and also in Europe  where  this eclipse is visible. These changes are expected due to the planetary transits at the time of the eclipse and, specifically, the impact on the Moon’s sign (Cancer) in independent India’s horoscope (August 15, 1947, midnight, Delhi) by several major planets. The eclipse will primarily be visible in the evening—before sunset—in regions such as Greenland, the Atlantic Ocean, Spain, Portugal, England, France, and Italy. In Western and Southern Europe—regions that experienced record-breaking heat this July—conditions are forming for unusual rainfall and seismic activity immediately following this solar eclipse, which occurs in the watery  sign of Cancer.

Due to the eclipse in Cancer, central India and several southeastern states may face floods following extremely heavy rainfall.

Abnormal rainfall expected in these European countries

Earlier this year, in June and July, thousands of people died across several European countries due to unusually intense heatwaves {Link – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_European_heatwaves}. People in France, England, Germany and Spain—typically cooler nations—suffered greatly from the heat after temperatures soared above 40 degrees Celsius.

Total Solar Eclipse of 12 August 2026 predictions

Navamsha Total Solar Eclipse 12 August 2026

Now, the upcoming total solar eclipse on August 12—occurring in the watery sign of Cancer, where the Sun will be in conjunction with Jupiter and Mercury—signals potential loss of life and property due to unusual rainfall across several European countries. While Europe usually experiences good rainfall between October and March and remains relatively dry from June to September months, but  the alignment of the Sun with water-element planets like Jupiter and Mercury in Cancer during the eclipse indicates a likelihood of abnormal rainfall in countries such as France, Spain, Portugal, England, and Germany over the 30 days following August 12th solar eclipse.

At the time of the eclipse, Capricorn is the rising sign (Ascendant) in France, indicating a strong likelihood of significant rainfall. In Spain and Portugal, Sagittarius is the rising sign; the simultaneous influence of Saturn’s tenth aspect and Mars’s seventh aspect on this ascendant rising in these two countries  suggests a risk of political upheaval and loss of life and property due to earthquakes.

What total solar eclipse transit indicates for India

In the horoscope for the New Moon (Amavasya) on August 12th , Aries (Mesha) ascendant is rising according to the  Indian Standard Time. The planetary transit during the solar eclipse indicates potential flooding in several locations across central India, specifically in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. According to the ‘Kurma-Chakra’ (an astrological chart mapping regions to constellations), the eclipse occurring in the ‘Ashlesha’ Nakshatra—associated with the south-eastern direction—signals a risk of flooding in various parts of Odisha over the next 30 days. In the Delhi-NCR region, good rainfall during the second half of August is expected to bring relief from the humid heat. Additionally, good rainfall is predicted for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, driven by Venus aspecting Saturn, which is transiting through Pisces (Meen) at the time of the eclipse. Pisces is the ruling sign of   Andhra Pradesh and Telangana  both.

Meanwhile, the combined influence of Saturn’s seventh aspect and Mars’s fourth aspect on Venus (currently transiting through Virgo) points to potential difficulties for the central government arising from issues such as sex scandals, crimes against women, and student protests in various parts of the country.  This can bring about because of the   Venus—the lord of the seventh house—being afflicted in the Amavasya (New Moon) chart, the central government could adopt a highly aggressive stance towards the opposition over the next 15 days.
As per the classical texts  on ‘Medini Jyotish’ (mundane astrology), such as the ‘Brihat Samhita’  and ‘Bhavishya Phala Bhaskar’, the solar eclipse occurring in the Cancer zodiac sign during the lunar month of Shravan is considered inauspicious for those engaged in animal husbandry. The eclipse chart indicates that livestock farmers in India may exert pressure on the government to increase milk prices.
