Saturn in Pisces and North East Monsoon trends for India in 2025

October 24, 2025 By Sachin Malhotra

After the late withdrawal of the South West monsoon from the North and Central India, the North East monsoon activity has started on time this year in Southern Peninsular. The North East monsoon rainfall activity has started in Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Southern Parts of Karnataka and Kerala since 16th of October. The effects of solar maxima i.e. higher sun spots are likely to give above normal rainfall in the North East monsoon just like we had a higher than the average rainfall this year in the South-West monsoon season. The North East monsoon rainfall bring about 50% to 60% of the  total  rainfall for Tamil Nadu state which is very important for her agriculture activity. This year the transiting Saturn from Pisces, a watery sign, aspect the Virgo which is the zodiac sign signifying the Southern Peninsular of India can bring higher than the normal rainfall and flood in Tamil Nadu particularly in Chennai city.

On the 27th of October Mars will enter into Scorpio which as per astro-meteorology is a watery sign. This will bring a good spell of rainfall in Southern parts of India in next few days.

The city of Chennai in particularly will gets lots of rainfall around 5th of November this year. The Moon shall be in Aries then giving aspect to Venus and the Sun in Libra. Jupiter will be in Kendra from the Moon which is an excellent yoga for rainfall.

              (Vrischik Samkranti)

Sun's Entry into Scorpio horoscope 2025

The Sun will enter into watery sign Scorpio on the 16th of November 2025 at 13:37:50 hours at Delhi. The close degree 5th aspect of Jupiter on the Sun is a good yoga for the rainfall. Later on the 20th of November on the day of Amavasya also A retrograde Mercury ahead of the Sun along with Mars in watery sign Scorpio getting the aspect of retrograde Jupiter , will bring major meteorological disturbance in Bay of Bengal also giving rainfall in many Eastern parts of the country also. A cyclone with heavy rainfall can’t be ruled out in the mid of November this year.

Higher than Normal Rainfall In November Month

The transit of Saturn from Pisces, Jupiter in Cancer and Mars from Scorpio is a major yoga for higher than the normal rainfall activity in the month of November during the North East monsoon season.  This will also bring down temperature in the North and Central Parts of India, thus we can expect an early onset of the winter season this year from the middle of November month.

Chart 2. Horoscope of Full Moon

5 December 2025, 04:43:55 hours at Delhi

Full Moon 5 December 2025

The transiting Jupiter will come back into Gemini sign on the 5th of December in its retrograde motion. It will come into mutual aspect with Mars which will enter into Sagittarius on the 7th of December. As per Bhavishya Phala Bhaskar rainfall activity can happen when major planets change rashi. Since in the Full Moon horoscope of the 5th of December 2025 we have the close degree aspect of Jupiter on Saturn which is in the sign of Jupiter in Pisces a watery sign, so we can expect very heavy rainfall activity in the fortnight starting from 5th of December.  This will bring rainfall in the interior parts of Tamil Nadu state and also in South Interior Karnataka region.

Watery Planets and Watery Sign’s in Astro-Meteorology

As per the rules of astro-meteorology the Jupiter, Venus, Mercury and the Moon are watery planets which gives rainfall. Mars and Saturn are dry in natura along with Ketu. The Moon’s north-node Rahu is a windy planet. The transit of these planets is to be studied in the lunar charts and solar ingress horoscope with respect to the Sun for understanding the rainfall situation. The Cancer, Capricorn, Pisces and Scorpio are watery sign. Gemini, Leo, Virgo, Sagittarius and Aries are dry signs. Taurus, Libra and Aquarius have some water content.

Chart 3. Horoscope of Sun Enters Sagittarius

Horoscope of Sun's entry into Sagittarius sign 2025

At the time of Sun’s entry into Sagittarius Jupiter will again aspect the Sun. During the entire period of North East Monsoon from mid of October to end of December the aspect of Jupiter will be on the Sun. As per the classical texts of astro-meteorology this is a major yoga for higher than the normal rainfall. Also notice the conjunction of the watery planets Mercury and Venus in the water element sign Scorpio is present at the time of the Sun’s entry into Sagittarius.

So, there will be some rainfall on the 16th of December and also on the day of Amavasya on the 19th of December. But later when the transiting Mercury will move into Sagittarius on the 29th of December joining Mars there the rainfall will start reducing. The North-East monsoon rainfall will end in the first week of January this year.

Overall the rainfall activity will be higher than the normal in the North-East monsoon season and the month of November and first week of December can bring a flood like situation in many parts of Tamil Nadu particularly in Chennai city. The North East monsoon will withdraw in first week of January 2025 when majority of planets will start influencing the sign Sagittarius which is a fiery element Rashi.

Solar Ingress of Scorpio horoscope for 2024

At the time of Sun’s entry into Scorpio sign the majority of planets are in fixed sign. This year Sun will enter into Scorpio (16th of November) on the day of the Full Moon. The mutual opposition of the Sun and the Moon in fixed sign and the Kendra position of Jupiter and Saturn is a yoga for a major earthquake. In the second fortnight of November 2024 there will be a major earthquake affecting North and Eastern parts of the country. In Southern Peninsular there will be very good rainfall in the second fortnight of November this year.

Notice the mutual aspect of watery planets Jupiter and Mercury in close degrees which is an excellent yoga for heavy rainfall.

Planets and Forecasting Trends for North-East Monsoon Season 2023 for India

October 3, 2023 By Sachin Malhotra

The south-west monsoon season has ended and now the retreating monsoon will bring rains in Sothern Peninsular. This retreating monsoon is know as North-East monsoon which last from October to December. As per the news reports IMD (Indian Meteorological Department) declared that South West Monsoon rainfall deficit was 5.6% so it was 94.4% of the total rainfall for the Long Period Average during June to September season. Also IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra acknowledged the failure in predicting  the record 36 per cent shortfall in August rainfall. In the June 2023 issue of EST my article with title ‘South West Monsoon in India 2023’ was published at page number 25. In the last paragraph at page number 28 of the June 2023 issue of EST i had mentioned ‘Overall, the total rainfall will be around 95% of the Long Period  Average, with uneven distribution as per time and space, during the entire South-West Monsoon season’. I had also made similar observations in my blog post “Forecasting Trends for South-West Monsoon for India” which was published on 24rd  of May this year.

Forecasting Trends for South-West Monsoon 2023 for India

In year 2022 North East Monsoon gave 9% access rainfall activity at Southern Peninsular during October to December months.

In year 2022 during the months from October to December there was no major malefic planet ahead of the Sun in the transit which was one of the reasons for good rainfall activity. Saturn was in watery sign Capricorn and Jupiter was in another watery sign Pisces which gave lots of beneficial rainfall for  the farmers resulting in good produce of paddy.

Now this year situation is altogether different as there has been lots of solar flare activity since early 2023 and during the months of October-November Mars, a natural malefic, will be ahead of the Sun in the transit which is a yoga for low-rainfall activity. The high Sun spot activity and the transit of malefic planet ahead of the Sun can create an obstacle in the North-East monsoon rainfall which is not a good news for the farmers of Sothern states particularly for  Tamil Nadu.

Low Rainfall activity foreseen in October month

In the lunar month of Ashwin from 29th of September to 28th of October there will be 5 Saturdays. Also, the conjunction of two natural malefic planets Mars and Ketu at close degrees will also hold its sway. As per classical text Bhavishya Phala Bhaskar such situation can give less than normal rainfall activity and it will also bring rise in inflation so some extent.

Chart 1. Horoscope of Annular  Solar Eclipse (Not Visible in India)

             14 October 2023, 23:25 hours at Delhi

Astrological predictions about North East Monsoon 2023

Astrological predictions about North East Monsoon 2023

From an early October this year Mars will remain ahead of the Sun in transit. As per Bhavishya Phala Bhaskar this yoga is not conducive for rainfall. Apart from this Mars and Jupiter will be in opposition at 1/7 axis which is also a bad yoga for rainfall. So, there could be some delay in the North East monsoon arrival this year.

In the last week of October some good rainfall activity will start particularly around 26th and 27th when the Moon would be in Pisces a watery sign. Some parts of Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh will get good rainfall then. The coastal area of Tamil Nadu will also receive some rainfall. Mars -Ketu conjunction can also bring an earthquake as these planets are in Kendra from a retrograde Jupiter, and they are also in trine from retrograde Saturn. This earthquake may come in the month of October around 14th of October in North or Western parts of Indian sub-continent and also in Iran.

Interestingly we had two earthquakes on 3rd of October in the afternoon which gave some tremors in Delhi-NCR region.

The center of these earthquakes was in Nepal with intensity of 6.4 at Richter Scale.

Chart  2. Horoscope of Partial Lunar Eclipse (visible in India)

            29 October 2023, 01:53 hours at Delhi

Astrological forecast about North East Monsoon 2023

Astrological forecast about North East Monsoon 2023 for India

On the 29th of October there will be Partial Lunar Eclipse which would be visible in India. This Partial Lunar Eclipse will bring much needed rainfall activity in the coastal areas of Southern Peninsular. Tamil Nadu and Kerala in particular will get good rainfall activity immediately after this Partial Lunar Eclipse. In the horoscope of Partial Lunar Eclipse, the Moon and Jupiter are in conjunction in Aries. They are in direct opposition with the Sun, Mercury and Mars in Libra. This yoga can bring a wind storm and a cyclone especially in the Bay of Bengal. This cyclone will bring good rainfall activity in the coastal areas of Orissa, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

At the time of Partial Lunar Eclipse of 29th of October the Moon is in watery Navamsha Cancer and the Sun is in watery Navamsha Capricorn which is good yoga for the rainfall. So, in the first fortnight of November some decent rainfall will come though October will give less than normal rainfall activity in Southern states.

Chart 3. Sun enters into Scorpio

             17 November 2023, 01:18 hours at Delhi

Astrological forecast for North East Monsoon 2023

As per Varahamihir’s Brihat Samhita’s ‘Sasya Jataka Adhyay’ chapter 39 the horoscope cast at the time of Sun’s entry into Scorpio gives indication about the summer crops or Rabi crops. In stanza number 2 of this chapter Varahamihir has mention the importance of having benefic planets in kendra (quadrant) from the Sun at the time of its entry into Scorpio sign. If benefic planets aspect the Sun, then also the summer crops bring good produce. Now, this year the Sun’s entry into Scorpio chart indicates deficient rainfall and troubles for the farmers. Mars is in degree conjunction with the Sun and another natural malefic Saturn aspect this combination from its 4th house. Although Moon is in the 2nd house from the Sun and Venus is in the 11th which are good but this is not sufficient to nullify the bad effects of hard malefics Mars and Saturn over the Sun. So, there will be less than normal rainfall during the stay of Sun in Scorpio sign which is from 17th of November to 17th of December.

Some low to medium intensity earthquakes may also come during the middle of November to December in the Himalayan region as the affliction to the Scorpio sign suggest. This will affect the Delhi-NCR also as the Scorpio sign specifically signify this area.

The interior parts of Tamil Nadu may face shortage of water for irrigation for the paddy crops. The period from the mid of November to December months is considered to be very crucial for North East monsoon season. But this year we may not get sufficient rainfall during this period due to the bad effects of Mars and Saturn over the Sun. In North India the production of wheat, barely, peas and mustard will get affected due to the above mention malefic influences over the Sun.

Chart 4. Sun enters into Sagittarius

            16 December 2023, 15:58 hours at Delhi

astrological forecast for the North-East Monsoon 2023

At the time of Sun’s entry into Sagittarius Mars will be behind Sun. The aspect of Jupiter over the Sun is a combination of rainfall as per Bhavishya Phala Bhaskar. In the last fortnight of December, the state of Tamil Nadu will get some beneficial rainfall. However, this rainfall will not be much to meet the deficient rainfall during the months of October and November. So overall, the North East monsoon season (October to December) may end up giving around 90% of rainfall. The state of Tamil Nadu and Kerala will be affected the most as the zodiacal sign Virgo signifying this region will get affected by the bad influence of Ketu in transit. The situation in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka will be little better though.

Forecasting Trends for the North-East Monsoon 2022

September 25, 2022 By Sachin Malhotra

As per astro-metrology principals when the planet Jupiter in Perihelion (closet to Sun) there are chances of draught and likewise when it is in Aphelion (farthest to Sun) then there is more dampness and cold weather than usual. Jupiter in Aphelion bring it closest to the earth and also bring more rain than the normal as per the season. As per NASA Jupiter will be closest approach to earth in 59 years on the 25th and 26th of September 2022. In simple words earth will come in-between Sun and Jupiter on these two days. At present transiting Jupiter is in Pisces in direct opposition with Sun, Mercury and Venus in Virgo sign. Although Virgo is a dry sign as per astro-meteorology but Pisces is 100% watery sign and so is Jupiter. The opposition of Jupiter with Venus and Mercury is a very good yoga for rainfall which may bring an early onset of North-East monsoon in Southern Peninsular of India in year 2022 with bountiful of rains.

The reader’s of my blog would have observed my forecast about excess rainfall during the South-West monsoon season 2022 (June to September) which is now coming out correct.

Forecasting Trends for the South-West Monsoon 2022 for India

As per the Indian meteorological department the South-West Monsoon season has given 7% excess rainfall as on 22nd of September this year. But many areas like Delhi, Eastern UP, Bihar, Jharkhand etc. has received less than normal rains while Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat etc. has got more than normal rainfall this year.

Retrograde Jupiter may bring early rains in October

The normal date for the onset of North-East monsoon is 20th of October with a deviation of about week on the either side. For Tamil Nadu North-East monsoon is the main season which gives 48% of its total annual rainfall. This year the rainfall activity is expected to start around the new Moon of 10th of October in the coastal area of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu due to conjunction of Jupiter and Moon in watery sign Pisces.

Full Moon horoscope 10 October 2022

Jupiter in Pisces

The readers can notice the opposition of Jupiter with other two watery planets Venus and Mercury. In astro-meteorology Jupiter, Venus, Mercury and Moon are watery planets. Saturn, Mars, Rahu and Ketu are dry which obstruct the rain. Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio and Capricorn are watery sign while rest are dry in nature especially Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.

Virgo sign signify Southern Peninsular as per the ‘Kooram Chakra’ as the Nakshatra Hasta and Chitra comes under South direction in this diagram. Due to the placement of Sun, Mercury and Venus in Virgo there will be excess rainfall in the month of October in the entire Southern Peninsular.  Notice the aspect of Jupiter and Moon on the Virgo sign on the day of Full Moon of 10th of October. In Navamsha of the full Moon chart, Sun is in Cancer and Moon is in Capricorn which are also watery sign.

So, the early onset of North East monsoon around 10th of October this year is likely to bring lots of rainfall in Southern States of India in the month of October.

Horoscope of Partial Solar Eclipse of 25 October 2022

At the time of partial solar eclipse of 25 October 2022 there will be some rainfall activity in Southern Peninsular.

In the horoscope of Partial solar eclipse Jupiter is in opposition with Mercury which is a good yoga for rainfall. Interesting to note here is that there is no malefic planet ahead of Sun which could be an obstruction  to rain. A combust Venus is getting aspect of Saturn which shows some flood like situation in some parts of Sothern states especially in Tamil Nadu’s capital Chennai.

Horoscope of Total Lunar Eclipse of 8 November 2022

North East Monsoon 2022 Forecast

The planetary configuration in the horoscope cast at the time of Total Lunar Eclipse of 8 November 2022 indicate an earthquake and a major meteorological disturbances in India which will bring abnormal rainfall activity.

At the time of lunar eclipse of 8th of November majority of planets are in airy and earthy signs. Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars are in airy signs respectively. Saturn is in Capricorn which is an earthy Rashi. The mutual Kendra position of Rahu, Ketu and Saturn along with the Kendra position of Mars and Jupiter is also a yoga for an earthquake. The direction of this earthquake could be North-West and/or North East as per Koorma Chakra position of planets at the time of lunar eclipse.

Cyclone and Heavy Rainfall Foreseen During November 2022

In the horoscope of Total lunar Eclipse of 8 November 2022 the conjunction of Sun, Mercury and Rahu in airy sign Libra is an astrological indication for a windy super cyclone and heavy rainfall which could be in the coastal areas of South India around the time of this eclipse.

The low pressure and depression will bring cyclone in the Southern Peninsular which will also affect Maharashtra and Gujrat as west direction is also indicated with sign Libra getting under affliction. There will be excess rainfall activity in many parts of South India and also in western states of India after the total lunar eclipse of 8th of November.

Venus – Mercury in Scorpio will bring excess rainfall

The transit of Venus and Mercury from Scorpio sign during second fortnight of November 2022 will bring excess rainfall during the North-East monsoon season. The aspect of Jupiter from Pisces on to the conjunction of Venus and Mercury in Scorpio will bring excess rainfall and flooding in many parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala during the second half of November 2022.

During the entire North-East monsoon season this year there will be no malefic planet next to the sign deposited by Sun in transit which is an excellent promise for excess rainfall activity. Jupiter’s aspect from Pisces, a sign which singly sea shores, on the Sun which will be in Scorpio during 17 November to 16 December 2022  shows more rainfall activity in coastal areas.

Overall, there will be excess rainfall in the North-East monsoon season (October to December) this year. The North East monsoon season will start early around the 10th of October this year. There will be excess rainfall activity especially in the months of October and November in Southern states.
