Oath Taking Horoscope of Himanta Biswa Sarma 2.0 – What it foretells ?

August 3, 2026 By Sachin Malhotra

On the  May 12th  , 2026, at 11:48 AM   Himanta Biswa Sarma of the BJP had taken the oath of office as Chief Minister for the second time in the northeastern Indian state of Assam. The astrological almanac (‘Panchang’) indicated the ‘Dashami Tithi’  (tenth day) of the ‘Krishna Paksha’ (waning phase of the moon), a Tuesday, the ‘Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra’, ‘Vaidhriti Yoga’, and ‘Vishti Karana’. According to the ‘Muhurta Chintamani’, Tuesday is generally considered unsuitable for auspicious activities because the ruling planet, Mars, is regarded as having an aggressive nature. The ‘Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra’ is also classified as a ‘Kroor Sangyaka’ (harsh or fierce) constellation. The classical texts  on  Muhurata tells us that  combining a Tuesday and the ‘Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra’ is appropriate only for initiating conflicts such as wars, fire-related rituals, or legal disputes.

In Himanta Biswa Sarma’s oath-taking horoscope, the Leo (‘Simha’) Ascendant—a ‘Shirshodaya’ (head-rising) sign—is rising; however, the malefic planet Ketu is positioned at the  ascendant, and the Moon (representing the mind) is afflicted by a malefic planet Rahu is also not good. Let us analyze his oath-taking horoscope to determine whether he will be able to fulfill his election promises during this second term as Chief Minister.

A strong ‘Dhana Yoga’ (wealth-generating combination) is present in the oath-taking horoscope

Himanta Biswa Sarma’s oath-taking horoscope features the Leo Ascendant. Although the ‘Panchang’ for the ceremony was not auspicious, the horoscope contains a significant ‘Dhana Yoga’ (wealth combination) in the ninth house—the house of fortune and central government support. This combination involves the Sun (exalted and the Lord of the Ascendant), Mercury (Lord of the houses of wealth and gains), and Mars (Lord of the ninth house itself). Consequently, by securing substantial funds from the central government, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is likely to succeed—to a great extent—in fulfilling his populist election promises. These include providing two free LPG cylinders annually, creating 200,000 additional government jobs, and offering financial assistance of up to ₹5 lakh to help the youth establish new enterprises.

However, the presence of Saturn—the lord of disputes and litigation—in the eighth house suggests that legal hurdles may arise later regarding initiatives such as the Uniform Civil Code and the expulsion of illegal Bangladeshi citizens from the state. The third aspect of Saturn (lord of the sixth house of disputes) falling upon Venus—the lord of the tenth house (representing the state/governance) positioned in the tenth house itself—is inauspicious. Furthermore, Venus is debilitated in the ‘Navamsha’  chart; this indicates that certain decisions made during his tenure as Chief Minister could spark major controversies.

Major Controversies Likely in 2029 and 2030

In the oath taking horoscope  currently undergoing the ‘Vimshottari Dasha’  of Jupiter, which is positioned in the house of gains and the Anter Dasha  of  Ketu  in the lagna shows that  this phase favors the introduction of effective schemes to attract private investment to the state. However, major controversies may arise regarding some of his government schemes during 2029 and 2030. This is due to Saturn transiting through the sign of Taurus and the occurrence of the transformative Venus  (‘Antardasha’) within the ‘Dasha’  cycle of Jupiter. The period of Jupiter Maha Dasha and Venus Anter Dasha in the oath  taking horoscope of Himanta Biswa Sarma from May 2027 to January 2030 will not be good for  his government.

Chart 2. Birth horoscope of Himanta Biswa Sarma

Himanta Biswa Sarma Birth Chart

Navamsha Himanta Biswa Sarma
Dashmasha Himanta Biswa Sarma

In the birth horoscope (Gemini Ascendant) of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma (born February 1, 1969, at 2:00 PM in Jorhat, Assam), a significant ‘Raj Yoga’  is formed in the tenth house (governance/power) through the conjunction of Saturn (lord of the ninth house of fortune) and Venus (lord of the fifth house of ministerial office). Both Saturn and Venus are forming a mutual aspect relationship with Jupiter—the lord of the tenth house in his horoscope—thereby strengthening this ‘Rajyoga’ . However, this ‘Rajyoga’ -conferring ‘Mahadasha’  (major planetary period) of Venus is set to conclude in November 2028. Subsequently, during the Sun’s six-year long ‘Mahadasha’ , Himanta Biswa Sarma may face significant challenges.

In his birth chart, the Sun—as the lord of the third house (representing associates)—is situated in the eighth house in Capricorn (the sign of his enemy, Saturn) in conjunction with Gulika; furthermore, he is afflicted by the fourth aspect of Mars, a malefic planet and the lord of the sixth house. Health issues and disputes could cause some distress to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during the years 2029 and 2030. In Navamsha chart the  Sun falls  in the 6th  house  and in Dasmasha chart (D-10) the Sun is the lord of the 12th house in the 7th house of opposition will give tough time to Himanta Biswa Sarma during its Maha Dasha (from November 2028 to November 2034) as per the indication of his birth horoscope (chart 2).

At  the time of the next assembly elections in Assam  in 2031 the oath taking horoscope of Himanta Biswa Sarma (chart 1) would be under Jupiter Maha Dasha and Anter Dasha of 12th lord (losses) the Moon which  may  not let him get re-elected again.
