Foundation Horoscope of Indian Railway – What is the future ?

In the book ‘Indian Railway History Time line’ written by R.P. Saxena (Retired Railway officer from Western Railway Engineering Department) at page number 33 it has been mentioned that “central advisory committee of railway approved the regrouping of all the railways into six zonal systems with effect from 1^st of April 1950”. Thus in 1951, the Indian Railways was established by the amalgamation of 42 different railway companies operating in the country, spanning a total of 55,000 km (34,000 mi) with effect from 1^st of April 1950.

So, for the astrological purposes the foundation horoscope of Indian Railway is set for the 1^st of April 1950 at 00:00 hours at Delhi.

The partition of India in August, 1947  involved the breaking up of the old North-Western Railway and the Bengal-Assam Railway and India has been left with rumps of those systems in the Eastern Punjab Railway and the Assam Railway which cannot in any case continue as economic and self-sufficient units. The final integration of the Indian States Railways from April 1, 1950, as removed the major obstacle towards regrouping. Chart 1. Foundation Horoscope of Indian Railway

In the foundation horoscope of Indian Railway there is a very good conjunction of 7^th lord Venus and 5^th lord Jupiter. Since these two planets are in mutual aspect with 4^th lord Saturn and the 9^th lord the Moon so it is a Raja Yoga. In year 1956 during Venus Dasha and Saturn Anter Dasha (June 1955 to August 1958) in the horoscope of Indian Railway a major event happens. Indian Railway started its first AC train between Delhi and Howrah. In the Maha Dasha of the Moon (August 1968 to August 1978) the first premium train Rajdhani Express was started from Delhi to Howrah in year 1969.

Railway Strike of 1974

In year 1974 a major strike of the 17 Lakh (1.7 millions) workers of Indian Railway created a situation of chaos in the entire country and it was a major international news then. This nation-wide Railway strike (from 8^th of May to 27^th of May) was held to demand an eight-hour working day for the locomotive working staff and a rise in the pay scale. The strike was led by George Fernandes who acted as the President of the All India Railwaymen’s Federation, one of the two unions recognised by the Railway Board along with the National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR). The supply chain was disturbed by this major 20 days Railway strike resulting into acute inflation of food grains, edible oil and kerosene. It was the Vimshottari Dasha of the Moon and the Anter Dasha of Saturn (November 1972 to 15 June 1974) when the discontentment in Indian Railway staff brought this major strike which was brutally by then ruling Indira Gandhi government. Notice here that the Moon and Saturn are in ‘Visha Yoga’ in birth chart. In transit Saturn and Mars where in Gemini sign which is the 8^th house of the foundation chart of the Indian Railways.

The troubles and discontent emerged due to this national Railway strike become one of the major reasons for the implementation of Emergency in 1975 by Indira Gandhi government later on.

Major Railway accidents in the last 5 years

In the foundation horoscope of Indian Railways the 8th aspect of Mars on the 12th house of losses and the 3rd aspect of Saturn on this house is an astrological yoga for major train accidents. Also notice the 10th lord the Sun in conjunction with malefic Rahu and also the 8th lord Mercury. These planets are in mutual aspect with the lagna and 6th lord (accidents) Mars. The yoga of 10th lord (operation and administration) the Sun with the 8th lord (mishaps) Mercury and their mutual aspect with the 6th lord Mars has to give major rail accidents due to the gaps in norms and lack of standardized training of the staff. There has been shortage of station masters, train guards, points-man and traffic inspectors  operating in the automatic bloc system of Indian Railways which is major technical cause for frequent rail accidents.

The Maha Dasha of Saturn has started in the foundation horoscope of Indian Railway on the 14^th of August 2019. As per the Dasha Pravesh Kundali rules at the on set of a particular Maha Dasha if the Dasha lord is afflicted by the natural malefic planets then it can give bad results.

In the foundation horoscope of Indian Railways Saturn is involve in ‘Visha Yoga’ and in Navamsha it is in the 8^th house of mishaps. At the on-set of its Maha Dasha Saturn was in conjunction with Ketu in Dhanu which is the well-known sign for accidents and mishaps. The Moon was in Capricorn in the 3^rd house in the sign of Saturn at the time of ‘Dasha Pravesh’ which is also not very good. But the saving grace is the placement of Jupiter in Scorpio at the time of Dasha Pravesh of Saturn which is good as it brings hope for the improvement in the infrastructure very soon.

Why year 2024 was disastrous for Indian Railway

On June 17, 2024, a goods train collided with Kanchenjunga Express between Rangapani and Chattar Hat stations in West Bengal. The loco pilot (LP) of the goods train, the train manager of the express train and 14 passengers killed and nearly 50 injured. The Vimshottari Dasha of Saturn and Anter Dasha of Mercury is running from August 2022 to April 2025 in the foundation horoscope of Indian Railway. Mercury as the lord of the 8^th house is debilitated in the 5^th house and is in conjunction with the 10^th lord the Sun and they are afflicted by the aspect of 6^th lord Mars which is retrograde.

Chart 2. Hindu New Year 2024 for India

In the Hindu New Year horoscope of 2024 for India (chart 2)  the 3^rd house of communication, Rail and Road network is afflicted by the presence of Saturn and Mars in the Rashi chart. In Navamsha the 3^rd house gets the bad aspect of Saturn. It is no surprise that this year we are having so many terrible Railway accidents involving passengers and freight trains. These mishaps and troubles in the Indian Railways are likely to continue during Saturn-Mercury Dasha, which is till 26^th of April 2025 and also even in Saturn-Ketu which is till 5^th of June 2026. Ketu is in conjunction with lagna and 6^th lord Mars shows concern for the safety of Railway network during its sub period.

Later in Saturn Dasha and Venus Anter Dasha from 5^th of June 2026 to 5 August 2029 major positive transformation in the network of Indian Railways will be visible. The safety, security and comfort of Railway passengers will become more satisfactory during the Saturn-Venus period in the foundation horoscope of Indian Railway (chart 1) . Venus as the 7^th lord in the 4^th house is involve in a very good Raja Yoga as it is in conjunction with 5^th lord Jupiter. Thus. During June 2026 to August 2029 major positive transformation in the Indian Railway network is foreseen astrologically.
