Vastu Shastra is an ancient science of architecture and construction which has been incorporated in the traditional Hindu beliefs since time immortal. The mention of Vastu Shastra is found in the ancient scriptures like Rigveda, Atharvaveda , Ramayana , Mahabharata, Agni Puran , Matsya Puran etc.
These days many people consult Vastu professionals for their home, offices, factory etc. It has been found that Vastu Professionals charge exorbitant consultancy charges for their visits. Sometime these Vastu professionals also suggest very costly remedies for rectifying ‘Vastu Dosha’ and make fool of gullible clients. Like Astrology there is no regulatory authority in India which can put a check on the misconduct of practicing ‘Vastu’ professionals.
Recently I put up an RTI application (Registration No. UGCOM/R2015/62395) dated 14.06.2015 to get information from the UGC regarding the Universities providing ‘Vastu’ courses. Earlier I had put an RTI to seek the list of Universities offering courses in Astrology or Jyotir Vigyan which was publish in my article ‘Astrology Courses in India Universities’ in the July 2015 issue of Express Star Teller.
In the reply of my RTI application I got a list of 9 Universities spread over 6 states. I was highly surprise to get this information from the UGC as there were only 09 Universities offering courses in Vastu despite the fact that this subject is in high demand and lots of people are interested to learn it!!! Later I put up a first appeal (Appeal No. UGCOM/A/2015/60560) to get a clarification on the information received from UGC. On 30th of June I got a reply from the First Appellate Authority that the “Public Authority has received information from only 9 University/Collages spread over 6 states, in which courses in Vastu Shastra are offered”. Thus my appeal was disposed with the above observations. I am hereby giving the list of Universities, which I received from the office of UGC, offering courses in ‘Vastu Shastra’. The interested readers can search it over on the internet to get the contact details of these Universities for the collages offering course in ‘Vastu Shastra’.
