The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was founded by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in Nagpur on the 27th of September , 1925—the day of Vijayadashami—during a meeting followed by a flag hosting held at 10:10 AM. Starting with just 20 members at its inception, the organization has today grown into one of the world’s largest voluntary organizations. RSS founder Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar (born on 1st of April , 1889, at 1:13 AM in Nagpur, Maharashtra). During his early years he joined the Congress, which was then leading the freedom movement, after completing his medical studies. In year 1921, he was arrested during the Non-Cooperation movement (Asahyog Andolan) and served a one-year prison term.
Chart 1. Foundation Horoscope of RSS

Born under the Sagittarius (Dhanu) ascendant, Dr. Hedgewar’s horoscope featured a powerful ‘Gajakesari Yoga’ formed by the mutual angular (kendra) relationship between Jupiter, positioned in the ascendant, and the Moon, situated in the fourth house. Dr. Hedgewar groomed Madhav Sadashivrao Golwalkar (born on 19th of February , 1906, at 4:06 AM in Nagpur, Maharashtra) to lead the RSS.
M.S. Golwalkar assumed the role of ‘Sarsanghchalak’ following Dr. Hedgewar’s death in 1940; he held this position for over three decades, influencing millions with his Hindu nationalist ideology and bringing them into the organization’s fold. Known among his followers as ‘Guru Golwalkar,’ his Capricorn-ascendant birth chart featured a conjunction of the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Saturn in the second house (the house of wealth); this alignment—coupled with his anti-Communist and anti-Marxist ideology—made him popular among upper castes and the merchant class, thereby significantly aiding the RSS in raising essential financial resources through donations.

Following Golwalkar’s death in June 1973, senior RSS leaders founded the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 1980s; propelled by the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi movement, the party grew steadily through successive elections to establish itself as a major national political force. Entry of Women Foreseen in RSS during Venus Maha Dasha
Currently, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is undergoing the 20-year ‘Maha Dasha’ (major planetary period) of Venus—the significator for women—within its ‘Vrishchik Lagna’ (Scorpio Ascendant) foundation horoscope (chart 1) ; this period spans from October 2022 to October 2042.
