Tarique Rahman’s centrist Bangladesh Nationalist Party secured 209 seats in the Bangladesh Parliament by winning 49.97% of the vote. Shafiqur Rahman’s alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami, a group of Islamic fundamentalist parties, secured 31.76% of the vote, winning 68 seats and gaining prominence as a strong opposition in the country’s Parliament. Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League was excluded from these elections. A coalition of student organizations led by Nahid Islam, the student leader who led the July 2024 uprising, won only 6 seats with 3.05% of the vote. Although Tarique Rahman secured more than two-thirds of the 299 seats in the elections, he made a grave mistake by taking the oath on the day of a solar eclipse.
In my blog post “Solar Ingress of Aquarius 2026…….(Posted on 12th of February)” i had forecast the victory of Tarique Rahman in Bangladesh elections {Refer link – https://astrologicalmusings.com/solar-ingress-of-aquarius-2026-what-it-foretells-for-india-and-the-world/}
In the recently concluded general elections in Bangladesh, India’s neighboring country, Tarique Rahman, leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and the son of the former Prime Minister late Khaleda Zia, won a landslide victory. He was sworn in as Prime Minister in Dhaka on, February 17th, at 4:12 pm. Previously, in the January 2024 Bangladesh elections, then-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had won a landslide victory, but the opposition parties boycotted the elections. Following the violent public protests in Bangladesh in July 2024, Sheikh Hasina fled to India on August 5th, 2024, and since then she has been seeking political asylum , which is a matter of debate between the two countries.
Chart 1. Oath Taking Horoscope of Tarique Rahman

From an astrological perspective, the oath taken by Bangladesh’s new Prime Minister Tariq Rahman on Tuesday, February 17th, the day of the solar eclipse, during the inauspicious Panchang (almanac) of Amavasya Tithi, Dhanishtha Nakshatra, Parigraha Yoga, and Nag Karan, is not only bad for Bangladesh, but the political turmoil there could also have a profound impact on India.
The afflicted Moon in Tariq Rahman’s oath-taking horoscope will cause hardship to the public
In the oath-taking chart of Bangladesh’s new Prime Minister Tariq Rahman, the Moon is in Aquarius, afflicted by the Sun and Rahu, could cause significant hardship to the country’s people. In Mundane astrology the Moon signify the general happiness of the people in the country. The Cancer ascendant is rising in the oath-taking chart, and the Moon, the lord of the ascendant, is weak in the eighth house, flanked by the malefic planets Mars and Saturn, indicating significant hardship for the country’s people over the next two years due to communal tensions, political violence, and natural disasters.
Bangladesh’s closeness with Pakistan and China will increase, causing problems for India
In Tariq Rahman’s oath-taking chart, the Moon is in Aquarius, which is favorable for Pakistan because it trines the Moon in Gemini in the foundation chart of independent Pakistan (August 14, 1947, midnight, Karachi). However, since the Moon is in Cancer in the foundation chart of independent India (August 15, 1947, midnight, Delhi), so it is a negative 6/8 relationship with the Moon in Aquarius in the oath-taking chart of the new Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The disputes between the two countries will escalate on several bilateral issues. Disputes may escalate between the India and Bangladesh over the Ganga Water Treaty, the Teesta River Water Dispute, and the Extradition Treaty.
Chart 2. Foundation Horoscope of Bangladesh

Taurus ascendant is rising in Bangladesh’s foundation horoscope (December 16, 1971, 5 p.m., Dhaka). The Vimshottari Anter Dasha of Rahu in the Maha Dasha of the Moon’s current is showing significant shifts s in Bangladesh’s foreign policy, potentially changing the political geography of the region by rapidly expanding trade with China. Under the Antardasha of Rahu, placed in the ninth house of foreign policy, fundamentalist parties in Bangladesh may pressure Tariqe Rahman’s government to increase trade with Pakistan and China, which will make India uncomfortable.
In the foundation horoscope of Bangladesh the Maha Dasha of the 3rd lord the Moon was started from 17th of May 2024. It was since then the anti-India sentiments in the country had rapidly increased during the public protests against the Awami League Sheikh Hassina government. The Moon is the lord of the 3rd house is Vargottama in Scorpio but it is also getting an aspect by natural malefic Saturn. Thus, relations with neighboring countries signified by the 3rd lord the Moon has to go under transformation during this 10 years long Maha Dasha of the Moon.
Sheikh Hasina will attempt to return to Bangladesh
Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina (born September 28, 1946, 11 a.m., Dhaka) has a Scorpio ascendant in her birth horoscope. Sheikh Hasina, who has been taking refuge in India since August 2024, was the longest serving Prime Minister of the country as she ruled for about 20 years . In Hasina’s Scorpio ascendant birth chart, the Vimshottari Anter Dasha of Saturn in the Maha Dasha of Venus will last from May 2026 to July 2029.
Chart 3. Horoscope of Sheikh Hasina

In the Antardasha of Saturn, the lord of the fourth house (motherland), Sheikh Hasina may be seen playing a role in her and/or her children’s return to the country by supporting the party of Bangladesh’s new Prime Minister Tariqe Rahman, in which India will indirectly have a hand. Interesting thing to note here is that Sheikh Hasina’s birth ascendant has Scorpio rising which is the Moon sign of the national horoscope of Bangladesh (chart 2). When a political leaders Moon sign and/or the lagna is identical with the country’s foundation chart’s lagna and/or the Moon then he remain popular and strong for a longer period. The Anter Dasha of Saturn will be good for Sheikh Hasina as it is the lord of the 3rd and the 4th house in Rashi strongly placed in the 9th house of luck. And then in Navamsha it is 4th (mother land) and 5th (children) strong in the 5th house along with the 10th lord the Moon.
Thus, Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League may render their political support to Tariqe Rahman’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party in coming years to curtain the Islamic fundamentalist Jamaat-e-Islami’s rising popularity recently.
