Jupiter Dasha and Russia-Ukraine War – A Dasha Pravesh chart analysis

Russia is the largest country in the world sharing her border with 14 countries, and have eleven time zones. Its landmass spans a large part of Eastern Europe and North Asia having population of more than 140 million people. As per Ptolemy, the father of Western Astrology, Russia is ruled by zodiac sign Aquarius. In modern mundane astrology we take the foundation horoscope of Russia for the day when her declaration of sovereignty happened on 12^th of June 1990. After the dissolution of Soviet Union in 1991 a new constitution was adopted containing a federal semi-presidential system.

After the fall of the USSR (founded November 11^th , 1917 at 23hrs. 12 minutes, at Leningrad, Sankt-Peterburg,  Russia) during the Gorbachev rule Russia continued to struggle on economic front in the 1990’s when Boris Yeltsin was the President (July 1991 to December 1999). Then Vladimir Putin emerged on the political scene and country’s economy started improving largely by a boom in the oil and natural gas industry. However, Russia’s unauthorized annexation of Crimea region of Ukraine in 2014 and then four other regions during 2022 in the ongoing invasion of Ukraine put Russia’s economy under stress due to the various economic sanctions by the western world.

Chart 1. Foundation Horoscope of Russia  

June  12, 1990 at 13h. 45m. at Moscow,   at 37 E 36  and  55 N 45 with a balance of 8 years 8 months 1  days of the Moon Dasha  at birth.

In the Virgo ascendant foundation horoscope of Russia (chart 1) Mars aspect the lagna, the 10^th house from the Janma lagna and also the 10^th house from the Moon. The strong influence of Mars in Russia’s foundation horoscope shows streak of totalitarianism in this country. Vladimir Putin has been ruling Russia since year 2000 as Prime Minister and then also as President with an iron hand crushing the opposition parties. Mars is in the 7^th house in the foundation horoscope of Russia which is the house of war. The aspect of 5^th and 6^th lord Saturn on the Mars has kept Russia involved in many wars particularly in the  Maha Dasha of Rahu (from February 13, 2006 to February 13, 2024). Under Putin’s leadership Russia involved in military campaign against Chechen Speariest, military conflict against Georgia, Syrian Civil War and now an ongoing full-scale invasion of Ukraine since February 24^th, 2022.

War causalities in Dasha of Jupiter

In the book Hindu Predictive Astrology in Chapter number XXXI  at page number 235 Dr. B.V. Raman has mentioned, that the seventh house in mundane astrology signify, “Health of Women, immorality in the Country, rate of infant mortality, war, foreign relations etc.”. Ever since Russia has started Ukrainian invasion in February 2022 after the Maha Dasha of Jupiter started in her foundation chart there has been hundreds of thousands of causalities on the both sides. Jupiter is the lord of the 7^th house of war in the foundation chart of Russia (chart 1). Since Jupiter is also taking the lordship of the 4^th house (land) in Russia’s foundation chart so it has given her a control of about 20% of Ukrainian land {Refer link – https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0l0k4389g2o}.

Jupiter aspect the 4^th house in Rashi  in the foundation horoscope of Russia. In Navamsha  Jupiter is placed in the 4^th house along with the 7^th lord (war) the Moon. In Dashamasa Jupiter as the 11^th house (gains) lord is well placed in the 9^th house.

But this Jupiter is a ‘Maraka’ and functional malefic from the lagna and the Moon. Its 16 yearlong Maha Dasha  (February 13, 2024 to February 13, 2040) can give major set backs to Russia’s economy and there will be major unrest in her society in year to come.

 

Chart 2. Dasha Pravesh of Jupiter for Russia 

February  13, 2024 at 20h. 39m. at Moscow,   at 37 E 36  and  55 N 45

In the Dasha  Phala Adhyay, chapter number 48 of the  Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, at stanza number 5 & 6 Sage Parashara says that “during the beginning of any Dasha if the lord of the Dasha is in the lagna, in its sign of exaltation or in its own sign or in its friendly sign, gets the aspect of a benefic planet then this Dasha  period gives good results. But on the contrary if the Dasha  lord in transit is moving from the 6^th, 8^th or 12^th and/or in its sign of debilitation or from its enemy sign at the time of the beginning of Dasha  then it will give bad results”.

The above-mentioned principal is known as the study of ‘Dasha  Pravesh Kundali’. The method of casting the Dasha  Pravesh Kundali (chart) is very simple. All we need to do is to check on which day any specific Maha Dasha is starting in a horoscope. Then cast a chart for the start of the day of Maha Dasha by taking the rising sign same as the ascendant and also taking the same place of birth. The rules to study the ‘Dasha Pravesh Kundali’ has been explained in more details in the ‘Dasha  Tattwam’ chapter of the classical text ‘Jataka Tattwam’ which is the last chapter of this book.

In case of Russia her Maha Dasha of Jupiter started on 13^th of February 2024. I have taken the Virgo rising chart for the Dasha Pravesh of Jupiter (chart 2) by taking place as Moscow which is same as for the foundation horoscope of Russia (chart 1).

At the time of the onset of Jupiter Maha Dasha in Russia’s foundation chart the transiting Jupiter was in Aries which is the 8^th house (mishaps and mass deaths) in the horoscope of Russia (chart 1). The aspect of Mars (8^th lord) and Saturn (6^th lord) on the Maha Dasha lord Jupiter make things worse. On the 22^nd of March 2024 a coordinated terrorist attacks against the civilians  occurred Crocus  city in Russia in which 149 people were died and more than 600 were seriously injured by gun fire and suffering from burns (Refer link – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crocus_City_Hall_attack}.

At the time of the onset of Russia’ Jupiter Dasha the transiting Moon was in the 7^th house of war in Pisces along with malefic Rahu in close degrees. In the mundane astrology the Moon signify the general happiness of the public. Since the Moon is afflicted in the Dasha Pravesh chart of Jupiter for Russia so it has to give her civilians lot of pain and grief due to some national mourning.

When will Russia-Ukraine war end ?   

Jupiter Dasha and Jupiter Anter Dasha  in the foundation horoscope of Russia (chart 1) is from February 13, 2024 to April 2^nd, 2026. Jupiter as the lord of the 7^th house of war is afflicted by the 4^th aspect of 3^rd (border clashes) and 8^th (mass deaths) 8^th lord Mars placed in the 7^th house of war don’t show any sign of peace in the ongoing war with Ukraine. But in the Jupiter Dasha and Saturn Anter Dasha  we do expect a ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war. Saturn as the 5^th and the 6^th lord is Vargottama and is well placed in the 5^th house of ‘mentality of the ruler and diplomacy’ which does give hope for peace in the region.

The Anter Dasha  of the 5^th lord Saturn in the major period of Jupiter will run from April 2^nd, 2026 to October 14^th, 2028. During this period when the transiting Jupiter will be in Cancer, from May 2026 to May 2027,  giving its 7^th aspect to the Anter Dasha  lord Saturn in the natal chart we can expect a ceasefire to be announced in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Russian President Putin will agree for the cease fire but since the Anter Dasha  lord Saturn is in conjunction with the 11^th lord (gains) the Moon so he will not give-up a major portion of Ukrainian land occupied by the Russian army. The ceasefire in Russia-Ukrain war can happen any time in the second half of 2026 or in first half of 2027.

The Anter Dasha  lord Saturn strongly placed in the Navamsha  and Dashamasa give Russia an edge over the  Ukraine in the peace talk for ceasefire.

 

Chart 3. Foundation Horoscope of Ukraine   

August  24, 1991 at 18h. 00m. at Kive,   at 30 E 31  and  50 N 26 with a balance of 3 years 11 months 8  days of the Mars Dasha  at birth.

In the foundation horoscope of Ukraine (chart 3) Capricorn ascendant is rising. The Maha Dasha of functional malefic 3^rd (border clashes) and 12^th (war losses) lord Jupiter is running since August 2^nd, 2013. Jupiter is badly placed in the 8^th house of mass deaths from the lagna and the Moon. The close degree conjunction of Jupiter with its enemy planet Mercury is also unhelpful in Ukraine’s foundation horoscope. An important point to note here is that Jupiter take the lordship of 12^th house of war losses in Rashi , Navamsha , Chathurthamsa and Dashamasa charts. In Rashi  and Dashamasa Jupiter is badly placed in the 8^th house of mass deaths.

Ukraine loss Crimea to Russian forces and separatist in March 2014. Later in this Dasha of Jupiter Russia attacked Ukraine in February 2022 and occupied parts of parts of Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Luhansk, Mykolayiv, and Zaporizhzhya Oblasts.

 

Chart 4. Dasha Pravesh of Jupiter  for  Ukraine   

August  2, 2013 at 20h. 23m. at Kive,   at 30 E 31  and  50 N 26

At the time of Dasha Pravesh of Jupiter ( August 2^nd, 2013) in the foundation horoscope of Ukraine the transiting Jupiter was in its enemy sign Gemini in the 6^th house from the lagna Capricorn. In the Dasha Pravesh chart of Jupiter for Ukraine there is no benefic planet in Kendra and the Moon (general happiness of public) is relegated to the 6^th house of strife along with the  6^th lord Mercury and malefic Mars. It is no surprise that Ukraine suffered heavily in its war against Russia. Tens of thousands of Ukrainian civilian causalities and displacement of more than 8.2 millions people has created Europe’s largest refugee crisis since World War II (Refer link – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russo-Ukrainian_war_(2022%E2%80%93present)).

Now in the foundation horoscope of Ukraine (chart 3) the Vimshottari Dasha of Jupiter and Anter Dasha  of the Moon from December 1, 2024 to April 2^nd, 2026 is showing the most dangerous phase of this war which will give more pain to the Ukraine’s general public. The Anter Dasha  lord the Moon is taking the lordship of the 7^th house of war and is afflicted in the lagna along with Saturn. In Navamsha  it is in the 6^th house and is in mutual aspect with Saturn badly placed in the 12^th house of war losses.

It is only in the Anter Dasha  of 11^th lord Mars placed in the 9^th house of foreign treaty we can expect Ukraine to reach at a peace agreement with Russia sometime in the end of 2026 or in early 2027. The Jupiter Dasha and Mars Anter Dasha  will be  from April 2^nd 2026 to March 9^th 2027.

The Anter Dasha  lord Mars aspect the 4^th house in Rashi  and Navamsha . In Dashamasa it is the lord of the 4^th house and in Chathurthamsa (land) it is lagna lord. Thus during the strongly placed Mars Anter Dasha  Ukraine can get some land back from her enemy Russia,  and there will be a ceasefire announcement anytime during the second half  of 2026 or in early 2027 in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
