India’s largest airline, IndiGo, is currently grappling with its biggest crisis, which has not only cast a shadow over its future but also raised questions about the reputation of the country’s aviation sector. In the last seven days, IndiGo has cancelled more than 2,000 flights, causing troubles and humiliation  to millions of passengers and creating chaotic situations at several major airports across the country. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) implemented new Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) rules, aimed at providing more rest periods for airline pilots and crew members to prevent fatigue.The Ministry of Civil Aviation has introduce the FDTL rules in January 2024 but they failed to comply them on IndiGo resulting a major aviation crisis { Refer link – https://www.business-standard.com/industry/aviation/india-pilot-fatigue-rules-fdtl-indigo-flight-cancellations-explained-125120400570_1.html} 

The government had given all airlines sufficient time to implement these new rules, but IndiGo, a low-cost carrier already struggling with a shortage of pilots and staff, showed gross negligence and disregarded the government’s orders.
