How to learn Vedic Astrology or Jyotisha for becoming an astrologer ?

October 27, 2019 By Sachin Malhotra

We can see a surge to learn astrology among the youngsters since last few years with the advert of various ‘you-tube channels’ on the subject. But internet can never be the best option for a sincere student of astrology to learn this divine subject. Similarly attending some short courses in a seminar or though a webinar can never help you to learn astrology in depth. If someone seriously want to practice astrology in modern times then he or she should attend a diploma or degree course in some University or Institute which is teaching this subject. In year 2014 i had filed an RTI application with Ministry of Human Resource Development to seek information about Indian Universities imparting education on Jyotisha (astrology). An article of mine on the subject was appeared in 2015 in the Express Star Teller Magazine. Since then i have been receiving so many queries from young students who are interested to learn this subject. My advise to them has always been to join some reputed institute or university to learn astrology in organized manner.

Which are the best institutes in India for learning astrology ?

Bhavan’s K.N. Rao Institute of Astrology Institute of Astrology {Before 2023 it was Institute of Astrology Bharitiya Vidhya Bhavan}  is best amount the school which offer courses in astrology and also conduct research on the subject. The present astrology course in this institute was started by legendary astrologer Shri K.N. Rao in 1987. In year 2013 when this institute completed its silver jubilee (25 years) by then more than 20 thousands students had pass out its astrology course. You can get the details about astrology courses offer by them through their website link given below.

Bhavan’s K.N. Rao Institute of Astrology , New Delhi

Apart from this the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Education Trust also offer astrology courses in Mumbai and Bangalore. The information about the same can be obtained by clicking the given below links of their respective websites.

Jyotisha Bharati by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mumbai

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Bengaluru, Kendra

ICAS (Indian Council of Astrological Sciences) is another very good institute for learning astrology which have more than 50 centers across India. This reputed institute was founded by late Dr. B.V. Rama in November 1984 with a vision to establish an All India Body for propagating astrology in an organized manner. At present ICAS has more than 50 centers across different cities of India which are offering courses on the subject. You can get information about the same from their website link which is given below.

Indian Council of Astrological Sciences Centers

But the limitation these institutes have is that they  do not have accreditation with any University run by central government or state government. So although you will get best of the knowledge and faculties to learn astrology from these above mention private institutes but then you are not going to get any diploma or degree which is recognized by any University. So if you are aiming to get a degree in astrology then you have no choice but to go to a UGC recognized university which offer courses on the subject.

Astrology Courses offered by Indian Universities

Astrology as a subject of study in degree courses was introduce by Indian Universities in year 2000. Prior to this Sanskrit collages and institute use to have astrology or Jyotisha in their curriculum of Acharya and Shastri degrees. In year 2000 HRD minister Shri Murali Manohar  Joshi ordered the UGC to introduce  astrology ( Jyotir Vigyan) as degree courses in Universities. Department of Astrology and Vastu were establish in many reputed universities like Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth (New Delhi), Banaras Hindu University (Varanasi UP), Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidayala (UP), Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University (Hyderabad), Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (near Nagpur, Maharashtra) etc.

You can find the names of Indian Universities that offer courses on astrology and vastu by going through the given below links.

Astrology Courses at Indian Universities

Vastu Courses in Indian Universities

These universities offer both full time and part time courses in Astrology and Vastu. Although some private institutes claims that they have affiliation from some of the university to offer a course in the subject but i would recommend a student of astrology to personally visit the university campus to get the required information to avoid a possible fraud.

Self learning in ‘Astrology or Jyotisha’

In my intersections with various astrologers since last two decades i have found some excellent ‘self learned astrologers’. Some people have this divine gift which make them highly intuitive astrologer with good predictive ability. I have seen many astrologers who have learned the subject from reading books and magazines only. For those who can not attend a university or institute to learn astrology they should read some of the classical texts and also subscribe to magazines to get quality material for learning this subject easily. I would specially recommend the books written by Shri K.N. Rao and his student who have done good research on the subject. Then i would suggest astrology students to read classical text like Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Brihat Jataka, Prashana Marga, Jataka Tattwam, Phaladeepika, Jataka Parijat, Jaimini Sutram  etc. to get deep knowledge of Jyotisha. Reading a good book on mathematical astrology is also a must to know how to cast a horoscope using an ephemeris, calculating various dashas , strength of planets, strength of houses and divisional horoscopes etc. For astrologers into self learning the website of Lois Rodden astro.com  is best resource for authentic horoscopes.

For a self learning effort in astrology one must subscribe to at least two or three good astrology magazines so that he or she can get horoscopes to practice. If you learn astrology from a university or institute the advantage you get in the form of friend circle of your classmates who always gives you horoscopes to study is missing in case of self-learning astrologers is what i have observed. I would advise students of astrology to subscribe to these given below reputed astrological magazines.

Express Star Teller Magazine

The Planets & Forecast Magazine

The Journal of Astrology

The above mention astrology magazines are in English only.

For those who are outside India can learn Vedic Astrology from the Council of Vedic Astrology which is allied with the Indian Council of Astrological Sciences since 1993 as a non-profit organization. Also American College of Vedic Astrology   is another non-profit organization that was founded by Dr. B.V. Raman in 1993 is teaching the subject in USA.

In this post i have tried to provide the information about all the reputed institutes and universities teaching astrology since more than 20 years. I will keep updated this page in future  so that the interested students of astrology can get the best available information to learn the subject easily.

I would request the readers of this blog to share this post on social media to make people aware about best astrology institutes and universities for learning this subject.

Why so many high profile marriages in India in year 2018 ?

January 1, 2019 By Sachin Malhotra

In year 2018 lots of high profile marriages took place in India about which I had predicted in my article “ Hindu New Year horoscope 2018 and forecast for India” way back in the month of March 2018. My article on the subject was also published in the Express Star Teller magazine’s March 2018 issue. In the Pisces New Moon or Hindu New Year horoscope 2018 the rising sign was Virgo with 2nd lord Venus exalted in the 7th house (marriage) along with Sun, Moon and Mercury. The lord of 7th house , Jupiter placed in the 2nd house. Thus a beautiful exchange between 2nd and 7th houses lords and the involvement of luminaries (Sun and Moon) was the major astrological factor on which I had given the prediction about ‘celebrity marriages’ during the operation period of Hindu New Year 2018-19 horoscope. Apart from this also notice the aspect of 8th lord Mars on the 7th house in the Hindu New Year horoscope which also brought the news of the break-up of the marriage of famous Indian cricket player Mohammad Shami.

Hindu New Year 2018 and forecast for India

Now see the given below names of celebrities, who tied knot in 2018, along with the date of their marriage.

  1. Bollywood Diva ‘Priyanka Chopra’ and US pop star ‘Nick Jonas’- 1st December 2018
  2. Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone – 14th November 2018.
  3. Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor and businessman Anand Ahuja- 8th of May 2018.
  4. Business tycoon Mukesh Ambani’s elder son was engaged to Shloka Mehta on 24th of March 2018 and their marriage is likely to be conducted in early 2019.
  5. Badminton  sensation Saina Nehwal tied knot with P. Kashyap on 16 December in a small ceremony with only 40 guests, including relatives of both families, setting-up an example for youths.
  6. Mukesh Ambani’s daughter Isha Ambani and businessman Anand Piramal’s wedding on December 12th 2018 was the most expansive and lavish wedding in recent years.

The Ambani’s wedding cost was estimated to be Rs.700 crores or 100 million USD. Mukesh Ambani summoned most famous film and music celebrities from India and abroad in his ostentatiously wasteful and glittery celebrations. Ambani’s are known for wealth creation than the wealth distribution. He is India’s richest man who is known for his flashy and arrogant show of his wealth. He faced criticism few years ago when he made the world’s most expensive house (after Buckingham Palace) in the heart of south-Mumbai. Mukesh Ambani’s Antilla cost more than Rs. 6000 crorers or $1 billion reportedly then. You will not find Ambani’s name in philanthropic causes unlike India’s second richest man Ajim Premji who opted on ‘The Giving Pledge’ an initiative founded by Bill Gates and Warren Buffet that encourage world’s richest people to contribute the majority of their wealth for social cause. Ambani’s are also not industrialist like Tata’s and Birla’s who are known for their social work through hundreds of charitable trusts. Ambani’s and Adani’s are hardcore greedy businessmen’s who are using the resources of  society for creating wealth for themselves without giving much back for social cause.  Mukesh Ambani is well known for keeping both the major political parties ( BJP and Congress) in either of his pockets by the means of legal and illegal political funding. He follows the footsteps of his father late Dhirubhai Ambani who unhesitatingly encouraged political corruption in India and was important for all the prime minister’s country had since Indira Gandhi.  The story of Dhirubhai Ambani’s rise from the small obscure town of Gujarat to becoming a great business tycoon is well documented in book “The Polyester Prince- the rise of Dhirubhai Ambani”

The worst thing Ambani’s did, apart from all the vulgar display of wealth in their wedding party, was to circulate the images of Bollywood superstar  Amitabh Bachchan serving food at the ceremony   to the guests. The images of Abhishek Bachchan , Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Sharukh Khan and other Bollywood stars were also circulated performing on the stage and serving food to the guests from the groom side. Bachchan’s replied on the social media that “it is the tradition called ‘Sajjan-ghot’ when the bride’s family serve food to the grooms family in wedding”.  But the questions arises do these super-rich artists of Hindi film industry follow the  same tradition in their own family weddings ? In India this custom of serving food to the grooms family by the bride’s relatives is common in almost everywhere. We have not seen or heard these stars serving food in any other wedding then why only Ambani’s ? It is anybody’s guess that they are sub-servient to Ambani’s wealth who would have been financing their films.

Unless Indians are glued to  the  hero-worshiping of these uber-rich business tycoons and Bollywood stars  the country will keep suffering from poverty due to the disproportionate  distribution of wealth and people will be more mentally sick having lack of self-respect in them. People of India must be made aware of the great contribution made by the  industrialist like Tata’s, Birla’s, Ajim Premji, Narayan Murthy, Nandan Nilekani etc. more than the flamboyant display of wealth  by the Ambani’s.

Mars ingress over eclipse point and four historic judgements of Supreme Court

September 29, 2018 By Sachin Malhotra

The month of September 2018 will be remember for the historic judgements of the Supreme Court of India. It is a matter of a great case study for astrologers practicing ‘mundane astrology’. The lunar eclipse of 27/28 July 2018 had fallen on the Capricorn (Makar) sign over the 9th house of the Taurus lagna foundation horoscope of India. The 9th house in mundane astrology (Medini Jyotish) signify the Supreme Court and major laws passed by the parliament. In the month of September the apex court delivered landmark judgements like the one on ‘Section 377- declaring gay sex not a crime….’ , ‘ striking down Section 497- making adultery no longer a crime’ , ‘Aaadhaar Verdict’ and a big decision on Ayodhya case by ‘refusing to review the 1994 Judgement that said ‘Mosque is not integral to Islam’. These four historic judgements and the last years ‘right to privacy judgement’ will have far reaching implications which will bring major socio-religious changes in the Indian society in years to come.

In the second half of  year 2015 one of my article ‘Moon dasha in the horoscope of India’ was published by the Express Start Teller magazine  in which i had predicted that the maha dasha of 3rd lord Moon will bring major social and economic changes in the Indian society making it more liberal. I had also foretasted about the possible outbreak of ‘private you tube channels’ in India during the dasha of 3rd lord Moon in its own sign Cancer. In the last few years thousands of Indian’s have started making their ‘you tube channels’ to earn money through ‘Google ad-sense’. Millions of people in India have now get cheap access to the internet thanks to the Reliance’s JIO entering into the market in the year 2016 making it highly competitive and consumer friendly.

Now see the foundation horoscope of India given below to understand astrologically how India is undergoing a historic social transform which will soon make it one of the most liberal society in Asia.

Astrological predictions for Ayodhya Ram Temple Case

In the Taurus (Vrishabha) lagna foundation horoscope of India the maha dasha of 3rd lord Moon is running from September 2015 to September 2025. Moon is in own house with cluster of planets. Moon as the 3rd lord giving aspect to the 9th house shows major social development in favor of women’s. Moon it-self is the significant of women, love, emotions, social ethics, media etc. There is no wonder that apex court had recently decided to give a judgement in favor of women in ‘Sabrimala temple case’ . The Supreme court has struck down a tradition of Sabrimala temple in Kerala  that disallow the girls and women between the age group of 10 to 50 years from entering the temple.  Notice here that this decision has came after 26th of September when the transiting Mars cross the degrees of eclipse of 27/28 July which had fallen in Capricorn (Makar rashi) the 9th house of religion in the foundation horoscope of India. The transiting Saturn from Sagittarius is giving its 7th aspect to the natal 7th lord Mars placed in Gemini in the foundation horoscope of India. The Jupiter transiting from Libra aspect the natal Mars of India with its 9th aspect thus completing the double transit phenomena on  the 7th lord of the foundation horoscope of India.

The transiting Jupiter from Scorpio will be in the 7th house of the foundation horoscope of India and from Sagittarius it will be giving aspect to the natal 7th lord Mars in Gemini. Saturn is in Sagittarius till March 2020 so the period till then will bring more judicial interventions into the laws related with marriage and sex. The double transit phenomena of Saturn and Jupiter on the natal 7th lord of the foundation horoscope of India will bring crucial judgements in cases related with ‘Nikaha Halala’ , ‘LGBT marriages’ , ‘Immoral Trafficking Act 1956’ , ‘ Marital Rape under section 375’ etc.

Eclipse effects in Mundane astrology

The lunar eclipse of 27/28 July 2018 had fallen in the Capricorn sign when Sun and Moon were at 11 degrees in opposition on the day of Full Moon. The Sun was in Cancer and Moon was in Capricorn. As soon as the Mars crossed the degrees of eclipse on the 26th of September we had four major decision by the Supreme court which is historical. It is a cardinal principal of mundane astrology that the effects of an eclipse are felt at the maximum when a planet cross over at the degrees of Sun and/or Moon. In simple words we had to note the degrees of Sun and Moon at the time of an eclipse (solar or lunar). Whenever a planet traverse over that degrees major events take place. If a malefic cross the eclipse degrees or eclipse point then events are dramatic and enigmatic in nature. If benefic planets like Jupiter, Mercury and Venus transit over the eclipse point then it give peace and happiness to the people and promote harmony in the society. The results of the eclipses are felt till 3 months so this transit of planets had to be observed within the period of 90 days from that eclipse in question.

Future of Ayodhya Ram Temple- Babri Masjid  case

Apart from the Sabrimala case the apex court has also given a historic judgement in another religious matter by deciding not to refer the 1994 judgement in Ismail  Faruqui  case to the larger constitutional bench. The apex court remarks ” Mosque is not essential to Islam” and for them Ayodhya matter is a title dispute like any other civil case. The next date for Ayodhya hearing is on 29th of October by then the Justice Ranjan Gogoi will take the oath of the new chief justice of India. Justice Ranjan Gogoi then would have time till November 2019, before he retires, to hear and deliver a judgement in Ayodhya matter. But most likely the Ayodhya Ram Temple dispute will be able to resolve in year 2020 only when the transiting Saturn and Jupiter will reach at the 9th house of the foundation horoscope of India with Vimshottari dasha of Moon-Saturn running.

Supreme decision in ‘gay sex and adultery case’

Earlier supreme court had also declared section 377 null and void making gay sex decriminalized. The apex court strike down the IPC (Indian Penal Code) section 377 which was a British era law of 1861 making gay sex a criminal offense. This major decision giving relief to the LGBT community came in the first week of September 2018. Later in the last week of September 2018 the apex court also scraped  the section 497, a 150 year old law, keeping adultery a ground for divorce as earlier  but not a criminal offense. Chief Justice Dipak Misra remarked in this judgement that ” Two individuals may part if one cheats, but to attach criminality to infidelity is going too far. Besides, there is no data to back claims that abolition of adultery as a crime would result in “chaos in sexual morality” or an increase of divorce. How married couples deal with adultery is “absolutely a matter of privacy at its pinnacle”, the Chief Justice wrote”.

See the Hindu New Year 2018 horoscope given below to understand this historic judgement and its possible implications affecting the Indian society in future.

Hindu New Year 2018 and forecast for India

Notice the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus in the 7th house of the Hindu New Year horoscope for 2018. Venus as the 9th lord here shows the landmark judgement changing the laws related to sex and marriage. The abolishment of ‘gay sex’ and ‘adultery’ as crime are welcome decision by the apex court. Very soon court may also have to face the question about the status of illegitimate child or child born out of wedlock in some public interest litigation. The court will also have to take a decision in ‘ Nikah Halala practice’ case which is in hearing in front of them. It is highly likely that supreme court may declare the practice of ‘Nikah Halala’ as illegal any time before March 2019 as per this Hindu New Year horoscope.

Can Marital Rape be declared a criminal offense ?

In August 2017 the Supreme Court in a judgement said that ” forced marital intercourse and sexual act can not be consider as criminal act under section 375 of Indian penal code which which defines the offense of rape, has an exception clause that says the intercourse or sexual act by a man with his wife, not below 15 years, is not a rape “. But now recently in its judgement on ‘Adultery case’ scraping section 497 the Supreme court has made a remark that a ‘husband is not a master of wife‘ and about the ‘sexual preferences of women after marriage’ the apex court has paved the way for the future review the demand for considering making  ‘ marital rape’ a criminal offence under the section 375 of Indian penal code. In the coming years the Supreme Court may clear the way for wives to complain against their husband’s for marital rape under certain conditions. Marital rape can be declared a criminal offense in some very specific conditions.  If this kind of judgement came from the apex court, which is highly likely in next few years, then it will seriously affect the social fabric of our society and divorce rate is certainly going to be shoot-up fast.

The law related with prostitution which comes under section 1956 Immoral Trafficking Act will also be amended which currently are against the sex workers making them pron for exploitation by police. Currently in India prostitution is not illegal but propagating and developing this profession is restricted by law thus an individual practicing it can not solicit clients in public and brothels can not be maintain legally. This situation will change drastically any time before March 2020 due to the double transit phenomena over 7th lord Mars in the foundation horoscope of India. There will be some major changes in the Immoral Trafficking Act to protect the rights of prostitutes and to save them from harassment by police.

Sexual revolution of Indian society coming in its Mars maha dasha

The judgement of supreme court in adultery case will have its psychological impact on the educated public who will now start coming out of the guilt feeling in the matters of ‘extra-marital relationships’ As an astrologer i have personally seen lots of such cases and as per my humble opinion in the next few year the divorce rate will go very high in India due to a  ‘sexual revolution’ in society specially among the women’s. The Indian women were subject to suppression since centuries specially after the Muslim invasion of India. Now in the Independent India the Venus dasha ( 1989 to 2009) earlier and now the Moon maha dasha ( 2015 to 2025) is going to give them the freedom they deserve. People with ‘patriarchal mind set’ will regret this but they will not able to stop this revolution which is an astrological inevitability. By the time the maha dasha of Mars will come in September 2025 India would prepare itself for a bigger social revolution changing the fabric of its society dynamically making it very liberal for its women giving them more choice in the matters of ‘sexuality’.

Mars as the 7th lord in the foundation horoscope of India is in sign Gemini (signifying sexual union between man and women) under the aspect of 11th lord Jupiter from the 6th house shows tremendous liberalization in the matter related with marriage and sex in the Indian society.  The dasha of Mars will be from September 2025 to September 2032 which will bring a collapse of the ‘institution of marriage’ in the major cities in India. The divorce rate will then increase very sharply and more number of people will give preference to the ‘live-in-relations’ than marriage in Indian urban society. Sex will be discuss openly in society, media and literature. It will not remain a taboo as it has become off-late since the invasions of Muslim’s and later during  the ‘Bhakti-Kaal’ ( era of devotional literature) in the  14th to 16th Century.

Aaadhaar Judgement and its socio-economic effects

The five judges bench of supreme court delivered much awaited verdict on the constitutional validity of Aaadhaar the bio-metric linked unique identity project. The supreme court in 4-1 majority upheld the validity of Aaadhaar act with some restrictions. The judges struck down Section 33(2), which allowed disclosure of Aadhaar data based on an order of a Joint Secretary . Equally importantly, the court also decided to reduce the time period for storing authorisation/transaction  of data and put limitations on use of meta-data, thus reducing the scope for profiling of individuals. The apex court also said that Aaadhaar need not to be linked compulsorily by the banks and mobile operators. But the court has not commented on the status of data which the banks and mobile operators has already gathered with them ?

Mandatory linking of Aadhaar has been denied for school admissions and enrolling in UGC and CBSE exams. The restrictions  have been placed on its use by private companies—including payment banks, technology  firms—that relied on Aadhaar-based know-your-customer (KYC) norms for digital authentication.

See the horoscope of Lunar Eclipse of 27/28 July 2018 where the Moon is in the 9th house of Supreme Court along with 7th lord Mars showing major judgements in marriage and sex related matters. Apart from it also notice the lagan lord Venus in the 4th house and the 4th lord Sun in mutual aspect with the Moon and 7th lord Mars showing important judgement concerning with general public. The 4th house in mundane astrology relates with ‘people in general’. The Aaadhaar judgement will have very diverse effects in different areas of the lives of common Indian people. The government of India may come up with some legislation or amendments in the Aaadhaar act to dilute the Supreme Court judgment in this case. The government may bring some law in the parliament to give legal backing to the private companies like banks and mobile operators to continue using Aaadhaar for consumer verification. Such use was banned by Supreme Court when it strike down the section  57 of Aaadhaar act.

See the Full Moon horoscope of 25th of September 2018 to understand the possible effects of the supreme court judgements given during this fortnight.

In the Full Moon horoscope for the 25th of September 2018 notice the strong 9th lord Mercury with 11th lord Sun in the 12th house in mutual aspect with 10th lord Moon. The 4th ( people in general) and 5th lord Saturn aspect the 9th house and the 9th lord showing these historic judgement after the Full Moon of 25th of September 2018. In Navamsha the Scorpio sign is rising and the 9th lord Moon is strong in the 11th house. The 9th lord Moon in the Navamsha chart is in mutual aspect with lagan lord Mars and the 10th lord Sun. The judgements in Aaadhaar case, Sabrimala temple case, Adultery case and Ram Temple case are path breaking in the history of Independent India.

Now also notice the close degree conjunction of Mars and Ketu in the 4th house which also signifies buildings and structures apart from many other significations. This combination can give a destructive earthquake during this fortnight in the North-West direction of the country signify by the Capricorn or Makar Rashi. The Mars is in Shravana Nakshatra which specially related with the states of Punjab (both in India and Pakistan) and also Himachal Pradesh where this strong earthquake may strike. There shall also be danger of some border clashes between the armies of India and Pakistan on the North-West borders.

Lunar Eclipse of 27/28 July 2018 and Ayodhya Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid Case

July 27, 2018 By Sachin Malhotra

It has been observed astrologically  that whenever the sign Capricorn is afflicted by malefic planets like Saturn, Rahu, Ketu, Sun and Mars in transit  the region of North India and Pakistan suffer from religious tensions, political disturbances  and/or  destruction by some natural calamities like earthquake or flood. Now the coming Lunar eclipse of 27/28 July afflicting  the Capricorn or Makar Rashi is giving an indication of disturbances in India and Pakistan due to a strong earthquake in the next 15 days. There will also be extremely heavy rains in North India and Pakistan causing a destructive flood affecting the millions of people in next 10 days.  Later the political establishment in both the  countries will create religious tensions with in the country and ignite the border disputes to divert the attention of the people from the failure of public administration in dealing with relief operations.

Makar Rashi and the background of  Ayodhya Ram Mandi dispute

The Ram  Janmabhoomi  or Ayodhya dispute is a long pending socio-religious, legal and political matter in India. The issue revolves around the claim of Hindus to a plot of land in Ayodhya , that is traditionally consider as a birthplace of lord Ram , which at present is disputed due to the location of the  ruins of demolished Babri Mosque at the site. In 1528 AD , the Babri Mosque was constructed by Mir Baqi, then governor of the  Awadh region,  at the order of Babur himself allegedly after destroying a pre-existing temple of lord Ram at the site. This Mosque came to known as Masjid-e-Janamasthan (Mosque at the birthplace) and later as Babri Masjid (Babur’s Mosque). Interestingly during the year 1528 AD the Jupiter was transiting from Cancer giving aspect to the Capricorn i.e. Makar the sign which signifies the India as per great astrologer Varahamihira. The transiting Saturn was in Aries then influencing the Capricorn from its 10th aspect.

In Ayodhya dispute the first recorded issue of violence between the Hindus and Muslims over the matter of Ram Janmabhoomi in modern times took place in 1853 when a Hindu sect called Nirmohis claim the structure for building a Ram temple there. After the numerous incidents of violent clashes between the two communities during 1853-55 the British government, ruling India then, put up an outer enclosure in front of the Masjid in 1859 and thus forbidden the access of Hindus to the inner yard. Thereafter, the Hindus could only make the offerings (Prayers) on the Ram Chabootra that they have raised outside the Babri Masjid earlier. During the year 1853, the transiting Saturn was in Aries influencing the Makar (Capricorn) the zodiacal sign of India. Jupiter came to the sign Capricorn in year 1854 only.

In the independent India, the Ayodhya dispute ignited for the first time when on the night of 22 December 1949 some Hindu nationalist broke into the Babri Masjid and placed idols of Ram inside. People led to believe that the idols of Ram have appeared ‘miraculously’. Then Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru insisted that the idols of Ram should be removed. However, the local administration refused to carry out orders citing the concern of a possible communal riot between Hindus and Muslims. The police locked the gate of Babri Masjid but the idols of Ram remain inside and only Hindu priests were allow to entry for daily worship. Since then the Babri Masjid became a de facto temple and both parties (Hindus and Muslims) filed civil suits staking their respective claim at the cite. At the time of this important event the Jupiter was transiting from Capricorn the 9th house of Indian Independence chart given here. In Vimshottari the Saturn-Mercury period was in operation then. Saturn is the lord of 9th house in the Indian Independence chart. Mercury is place in the 9th house in the Navamsha.

Astrological predictions for Ayodhya Ram Temple Case

Astrological Predictions for Ayodhya Ram Temple Case

On 1st February 1986 a Session Judge of Faizabad court ordered to open the locks of Babri Masjid allowing Hindus  to worship at the site. This ignited the Muslims and they formed the Babri Masjid Action Committee (BMAC) in protest. At the time of this event, the Saturn was transiting in Scorpio giving aspect to the 9th house Capricorn in the horoscope of India. Transiting Jupiter had just moved to the Aquarius sign leaving the 9th house Capricorn few days back.  It was maha dasha of Ketu (September 1982 to September 1989)  at that time in the horoscope of India. Ketu, signifying religious and spiritual matters, is in the 7th house of war like situation. India was struggling from Sikh insurgency in Punjab then and also from the cross border terrorism in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

On 6th of December 1992, thousands of Karsevaks (volunteers) gathered in the city of Ayodhya , at the behest of saffron organization RSS and VHP, and demolished the Babri Masjid. This sparked the nation-wide communal riots between Hindus and Muslim at many places. The transiting Jupiter was in Virgo sign influencing the 9th house Capricorn, from its 5th aspect, and the Saturn was transiting from Capricorn itself. The communal riots thereafter broken out in many parts of the country led to the deaths of more than 2000 peoples in the next few months. The demolition of Babri Masjid had strong international reactions as many countries criticized government of India for its failure to stop the demolition and subsequent inter-community riots. In Pakistan and Bangladesh, scores of Hindu temples destroyed and properties of Hindu’s put to fire by mobs of Muslims in retaliatory attacks.

Lunar Eclipse of 27/28 July 2018 and Ayodhya Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid Case

Now a special bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra, justice Ashok Bhushan and justice S Abdul Nazeer  is about to complete the hearing on the  total of 13 appeals filed against the 2010 judgment of the Allahabad high court in four civil suits.  the three judges of The Allahabad High Court had  ruled in September 2010 that the 2.77 acres (1.12 ha) of Ayodhya land be divided into 3 parts, with 1/3 going to the Ram Lalla or Infant Rama represented by the Hindu Maha Sabha for the construction of the Ram temple, 1/3 going to the Islamic Sunni Waqf Board and the remaining 1/3 going to a Hindu religious denomination Nirmohi Akhara. This judgement of Allahabad High Court was later challenged in the Supreme Court who put a stay on it in year 2011.

Now in the present scenario the Ayodhya Ram Temple case is in its final stages in the Supreme Court of India and as per the planetary indications the verdict on the same may come any time during September this year. The three judge’s bench which is hearing this case is headed by Chief Justice of India Shri Dipak Misra who is going to retire on the 2nd of October 2018 after completing his tenure. Now in the foundation chart of India the dasha of Moon-Jupiter will start from the 8th of August 2018 as per the Chitra Paksha Ayanayamsha.

The Lunar eclipse of 27/28 July 2018 is falling in the Makar Rashi or Capricorn sign which is the 9th house of Indian Independence horoscope. The 9th house in mundane astrology specifically signifies the religious disputes and the higher courts of the country.

The Jupiter is in the 6th house Libra  of court cases or disputes in the foundation chart of India. The Jupiter in the foundation chart of India is giving aspect to the sign Aquarius which is the rashi signifying religious places and temples. In transit the Mars and Ketu are moving into Makar rashi the 9th house of the foundation chart of the country. This is a dangerous combination of religious violence which might occur once the judgment of the court will come on Ayodhya Ram Temple Babri Masjid demolition case. There is a possibility that court may give its decision in the favor of Hindu litigants. The transiting Saturn from Sagittarius is giving its 3rd aspect to the Aquarius sign. The transiting Jupiter from Libra aspect the Aquarius sign from its 5th aspect. In the month of September the Sun and Mercury will be in Leo giving the 7th aspect to the sign Aquarius which signifies temple as per the classical text of astrology. Thus all planetary indications are showing a decisive judgment in favor of Ayodhya Ram Temple which though can ignite a religious tensions across the country. The court’s judgement may not completely satisfy the Hindu litigant’s which may create some issues that can only be resolve in 2020.

Horoscope of Lunar Eclipse of 27/28 July 2018

Astrological Predictions of Ram Temple dispute case

See the Lunar eclipse horoscope  given above and notice the concentration of planets in the 9th house. The eclipse is falling in the Makar rashi in Shravana Nakshtra which specifically signifies the North and North West India. Mars and Ketu are very close to the eclipse point. The 9th and 10th lord Saturn falling in the 8th house shows the astrological possibilities of religious tensions spoiling the image of current central government led by the  BJP. The 8th lord Jupiter giving aspect to the Aquarius the 10th house also shows this. The lagna lord Venus receiving the aspect of Mars from the 9th house shows the danger of communal violence.

Crisis in Indian Judiciary and Makar Samkrani horoscope 2018

January 15, 2018 By Sachin Malhotra

On the 12th of January the news of ‘revolt’ of four senior judges of Supreme Court of India against the Chief Justice of India (CJI) took the nation by surprise. The press conference by the four  of the five senior most judges of the apex court was held at the residence of  Justice Chemlameswar who is second only to the Chief Justice of India  Dipak Mishra. In this unprecedented event in the history of India the four judges also released the letter of protest which they had given to the chief justice  two months back and claimed that “There have been instances where cases having far-reaching consequences for the nation and the institution had been assigned by the Chief Justices of this court selectively to the benches ‘of their preference’ without any rational basis.” The judges further said that “they were compelled to speak because democracy will not survive unless the institution of the Supreme Court is preserved.”

Although this event was astonishing for everyone but astrologically we were anticipating a major crisis in the Indian judiciary with its differences with the central government over many issues including the appointment of judges in higher judiciary. I had mention this astrological possibility in my article “Hindu New Year horoscope 2017 and prospects for India “ posted on this blog on March 28, 2017.

Now looking at the solar ingress horoscope of Capricorn and the coming ‘long stay of Mars in Makar for about 7 months’ , during the second half of 2018,  we can astrologically foresee major judicial crisis in the country . The collegium system of appointment of judges is likely to go under reforms which will begin from 2018 and it may get  complete in 2020 when the transiting Saturn and Jupiter will be in conjunction in Makar rashi (Capricorn sign). The Saturn ( justice giver) , Jupiter  ( law) and Mars ( law enforcement agency) are the primary planets for judiciary which are going to transit from the sensitive houses of the foundation chart of India this year. This will bring unprecedented and very controversial crisis in the Indian judicial system which will make a strong public opinion for the judicial reforms in the country.

Makar Samkranti horoscope 2018

In the Makar Samkranti or Sun’s entry into Capricorn horoscope the lagna and 6th lord Venus is in the 9th house in combustion  by the Sun. Mars aspect the 9th house in Rashi chart from the 6th house showing the rift in the judiciary to get widen further in days to come. In Navamsha the 9th lord Venus has gone into the 12th house in Rahu-Ketu axis under the aspect of Mars again. The 9th house under heavy affliction shows trouble in the judiciary. The issue of the selection of judges in the higher judiciary will surface again as a dispute between the central government and apex court of country. Notice here the 9th lord Saturn falling in the 8th house and the Jupiter the Karaka for Judiciary is transiting from the 6th house.

How judges are appointed in India ?

In India the judges in the Supreme Court and High Court are appointed by the “Collegium System” since 1993 after a judgement of the apex court in “Supreme Court Advocates on record Vs Union of India case”. The Collegium consist of the Chief Justice of India as its chairman and four other senior judges of the Supreme court as its members. However, the collegium system has no place in the constitution of India. This system was evolved through the Judgements of the Supreme court which is known in judicial circle as “Three Judges cases”. In August 2014 the present BJP government brought the National Judicial Appointment Commission Act (NJAC) and the 99th constitutional amendment to brought an end to for the collegium system. But the Supreme Court of India rejected this bill by declaring it ‘unconstitutional and void’. In October  2015 the 5 judges bench headed by Justice J.S. Khehar strike down the NJAC Act and the 99th constitutional amendment in its judgement. Since then a tussle between the central government and apex court has been going on over the appointment of judges to higher courts.

Unlike the western countries the legislature in India has no say in the matter of judges appointment in higher judiciary as well as in the lower judiciary. The politicians are merely spectators when it comes to the matter of appointment of judges as it is done by an Independent judiciary. But the process of selections is very much oblique and lack transparency particularly in case of Higher judiciary.

Crisis in lower judiciary of India

According to a report  issued by the Supreme Court –‘Indian Judiciary Annual Report 2015-2016’– a whopping 2.8 crore ( 28 million)  cases were pending in the district courts across the country which were short of nearly 5,000 judicial officers.

The report had suggested increasing the judicial manpower “manifold” — at least seven times — to overcome the crisis by appointing about 15,000 more judges in the coming years.

There is no centralised process of recruitment of judges in the district court of India. The judges are appointed by the governors of the state in consultation of the chief justice of the state concern.  A minimum of seven years of practise as a lawyer at bar is a necessary qualification for direct entry level to become a District Judge upon a written examination and oral interview by a committee of High court judges. It is often alleged that the process of selection in judicial examination is not transparent and lack accountability from the side of Higher judiciary.  But who ever has tried to highlight this issue has been targeted  by the ‘contempt  of court proceedings’ threat.

There is a rampant corruption at all level of judiciary in India as per many senior advocates including Shanti Bhushan .   While politicians and actors get instant relief from courts, the common man struggles for years for justice.

What we can expect astrologically in the first quarter of 2018 ?

Now under this background we shall go through the horoscope of  Sun’s entry into Capricorn again.

. The rising sign Taurus is same as the rising sign of the foundation chart of India. So the period of one month during the operation of this horoscope is going to be very sensitive for the country.

. The four planets Mercury, Saturn, Moon and Jupiter giving aspect to the 2nd house of taxation and finance shows the possibility of amendment in many tax laws like ‘Income Tax Act 1961’ and the GST (Goods and Services Tax).

. The amendments in the Income Tax Act 1961 may happen in next 3 months as the horoscope cast for the Sun’s entry into a movable sign shows the trends for the next 3 months.

. The 2nd and 5th lord Mercury in the 8th house in Sagittarius sign shows the chances of some downfall in the stock market in the period of 30 days from Sun’s entry into Makar i.e. 14th of January 2018.

. The 8th lord Jupiter conjoined with 7th lord Mars shows the possibility of terrorist sticks causing mass deaths during the period of next 30 days.

. The conjunction of 5th lord Mercury and 9th lord Saturn shows that there will be great scientific invention by the Indian scientist which will make the nation proud.

. The government give relief to the general public from the high inflation by bringing in the prices of petrol and diesel into the ambit of GST. At present the state government put taxes on petroleum products which in some case is more than 50%.

. There will be some unnatural rainfall in the second fortnight of January starting from Mars entry into watery sign Scorpio on the 17th and later Mercury moving into Capricorn on the 28th of January. This untimely rain will damage crops of farmers at many places across north and central India.

Judicial reforms in India will come in 2020

Now coming back to the question of the crisis in Indian judicial system the things are likely to get worst after Mars’s entry into the Capricorn sign on the 2nd of May this year where it will stay till the 5th of November along with Ketu. It is highly likely that some judges may give their resignation from their post in controversial circumstances.  A decision on the Ram Temple issue in Ayodhya in favor of the Hindu parties may  come around the total  lunar eclipse of 28 July 2018. This decision on the Ram Temple case,  which is in process of   the final hearing before a 3 judges bench headed by the Chief Justice of India Dipak Mishra, will have far reaching political consequences.

Later serious  questions will be raised on the accountability of judges and to bring the transparency in the process of their selection. This will happen in a chain of event between May to November this year during the stay of Mars in the Capricorn sign. A demand for a Judicial Selection Commission will be raised and a case in this regard may appear in front of the apex court for hearing. The process of Judicial reforms in India will take a positive shape in year 2020 when Saturn and Jupiter will conjoined in the Capricorn sign which is the 9th house of the foundation chart of the country. It is highly likely that Collegium system of  selection for Higher Judiciary will be made more transparent and a centralised commission will be formed for the appointment of  judges in district courts. Matter of the accountability of judges will also be addressed on serious note by the legislature and apex court in year 2020.

Which is the correct zodiac sign of India ?

December 18, 2017 By Sachin Malhotra

There has been lot of debate among astrologer’s over the zodiac sign of India since many decades. Later Shri B.V. Raman use to take Virgo (Kanya)  as the zodiac sign of India though astrologers in North had always taken Capricorn (Makar) for our country. The astrologers who take Capricorn (Makar) as the zodiacal sign of India claims that the Acharya Varahamihira had allocated this sign for ancient ‘Bharata’. But there is no Sansktrit stanza to support their  words. The Bhrihat Samhita of Varahamihira doesn’t have any Sloka that says Makar is the zodiac sign of India. Then a question arises, why senior astrologers in North India have been using Makar (Capricorn) as the zodiac sign of country for the purpose of Mundane predictions since many decades ?
Koorma Chakra and Zodiacal Sign of India
Similarly the astrologers in South takes the zodiac sign of India as Virgo (Kanya) but they don’t know the logic behind it. As per my humble knowledge the ‘Koorma Chakra’ easily explain the reasoning  behind North Indian astrologers following Makar and South Indian astrologer taking Kanya as the zodiac sign of India. If you notice the ‘Koorma Chakra’ composition then you will find that Hasta and Chitra Nakshatra in  Virgo (Kanya) rashi comes under the south direction. In the North-West the Uttara-ashada, Sravana and Dhanishta Nakshatra are located which comes under the Capricorn (Makar) rashi. Thus the south direction in Koorma Chakra is signified by Virgo (Kanya) rashi and the North-West is denoted by Capricorn (Makar) rashi. This could be the reason for which the astrologers in North and North-West part of the country had been using Capricorn (Makar) and the astrologers in South taking Virgo (Kanya) as the zodiacal sign of the country. The Koorma Chakar has been explained in ‘Vishnu-Purana’ and ‘Bhriat Samhita’ both. But one thing we should remember that places mention in the Koorma Chakra division in Vishnu-Purana and Bhriat Samhita were ancient names of the cities and countries known to Hindu’s during that era which has to be modified as per the modern history of the nations.

Planets and future of Indian Railway

October 3, 2017 By Sachin Malhotra

During the general elections campaign in 2013-14 Narendra Modi has raised the issue of  pathetic conditions in  India’s rail network and vowed to modernized it if he elected as the prime minister. Now since last 3 years he is at the helm of affairs but  the condition of Indian railway has not shown much improvement. The recent report of  CAG ( Comptroller and Auditor General of India) on the condition of railway  tells us why railway is not exactly on track. As per the CAG report in 2017 the catering and clothing provided for the passengers is extremely poor. The food that railway serve is not fit for human consumption. The trains are running late and infrastructure suffer from poor hygiene conditions.

Interestingly  after swearing-in as prime minister of India Modi put Suresh Prabhu, know for his efficiency and honesty, in-charge of Railway ministry. But despite best of his efforts Suresh Prabhu failed to tackle the issue of safety of passengers in the railway. Suresh Prabhu was also unable to break the nexus between corrupt railway officers and contractors who were milking this institution since decades. During his tenure 259 peoples were killed and 973 injured in 28 major train accidents. The deaths tolls from derailments in 2016-17 was highest in last one decade. Modi government failed to allocate requisite funds for the  railway passengers safety and to fill the 1.42 lakh vacant post in the railway.

Now the horoscope of Indian railway and the foundation chart of country shows that there will be massive changes in the railway in next few years which might involve the entry of private companies in this sector. Astrologically the privatization of Indian railway and Indian airlines looks possible in next few months. The maha dasha of 3rd lord Moon in the foundation chart of India and the anter dasha of Rahu placed in the ascendant is an indication of the entry of new technology in the area of public transport.

We will come to the foundation chart of India later but first see the horoscope of Indian railway given below. I got this chart from my astrologer friend Mr.Sunil Dutt who noted the time of the inauguration of India’s first passenger train from the website of BBC.

Foundation Horoscope of Indian Railways

Foundation Horoscope of Indian Railways

Foundation Horoscope of Indian Railway

Balance of Dasha in Vimshottari: Venus 12 years 4 months 13 days

In the book ‘Indian Railway History Time line’ written by R.P. Saxena (Retired Railway officer from Western Railway Engineering Department) at page number 33 it has been mentioned that “central advisory committee of railway approved the regrouping of all the railways into six zonal systems with effect from 1st of April 1950”. Thus in 1951, the Indian Railways was established by the amalgamation of 42 different railway companies operating in the country, spanning a total of 55,000 km (34,000 mi) with effect from 1st of April 1950.

So, for the astrological purposes the foundation horoscope of Indian Railway is set for the 1st of April 1950 at 00:00 hours at Delhi.

In the foundation horoscope of Indian Railway there is a very good conjunction of 7th lord Venus and 5th lord Jupiter. Since these two planets are in mutual aspect with 4th lord Saturn and the 9th lord the Moon so it is a Raja Yoga. In year 1956 during Venus Dasha and Saturn Anter Dasha (June 1955 to August 1958) in the horoscope of Indian Railway a major event happens. Indian Railway started its first AC train between Delhi and Howrah. In the Maha Dasha of the Moon (August 1968 to August 1978) the first premium train Rajdhani Express was started from Delhi to Howrah in year 1969.

In the foundation horoscope of Indian Railway the 12th house of losses get the 8th aspect of Mars and 3rd aspect of Saturn which is a yoga for major losses due to accidents. Also notice that Taurus and Libra both the sign ruled by Venus are afflicted by the aspect of natural malefic planets. Thus Venus the natural significant for the vehicles or public transport is afflicted badly and is also associated with Saturn in Navamsha in the 8th house of destruction.

Also notice here that lagna and 6th (accidents) lord Mars is in mutual aspect with the 8th lord (mishaps) Mercury which is a bad yoga in the foundation horoscope of Indian Railway given above. At present Vimshottari Dasha of Jupiter and Anter Dasha of Rahu is running in 2018 which is not good. Rahu is in the 5th house in association with 8th lord Mercury and 6th lord Mars which shows more mishaps.

Foundation Horoscope of India

Foundation Horoscope of India

Foundation Horoscope of India

Balance of Dasha in Vimshottari: Saturn 18 year 0 months 25 days

The maha dasha of 3rd lord Moon is in operation from September 2015 to September 2025 in the foundation horoscope of India. The Moon as the 3rd lord in Taurus lagna horoscope is signifying communication systems, rail , road and air traffic etc. The Moon is in good Gaja Kesari yoga as it is in Kendra from Jupiter. During the dasha of Moon there will be great development in India’s communication network and public transport. Sun the lord of 4th house i also with Moon in a cluster of planets at the 3rd house. This dasha of Moon will give India tremendous improvements in public transport system, telecommunication, digital technologies, satellite communication, space technology etc.

At present Moon-Rahu period is running from February 2017 to August 2018. The Rahu is specifically seen for latest technological advancements, space technology, telecommunication etc. Rahu also shows significant foreign investment. So a strong Rahu in Taurus here is going to bring foreign investment in the public transport system. Astrologically it is highly likely that Indian government might open railway for foreign investment now any time before August 2018.

The services of some foreign and private companies will be taken to manage many of the operations of Indian railway. This action of allowing private players involvement in the Railway will be opposed by many unions. The railway unions will conduct strikes across the country to oppose the privatization. These railway strikes are likely to happen from March 2018 to August 2018 as per the study of above given charts. However, the government will not take any step backward on its policy of outsourcing job works in railway. Majority of the ‘group D’ jobs vacant in the Indian railway is likely to be filled by private contractor in coming months.

The BJP government had last year allowed 100% foreign direct investment in the aviation and defence sector. Now the results of this policy will start becoming visible during the remaining maha dasha of Moon till September 2025. By the end of this Moon maha dasha India will be able to develop its railway network at sufficient level to meet the demands of its huge population.
