An astrological study of two Eclipses in August 2017

In mundane astrology (Medini Jyotish) the study of horoscopes cast at the time of eclipses holds a special importance. An astrologer practicing this subject need to cast 12 solar ingress horoscopes and 24 lunar charts for a particular country, by taking its capital as the place, to give his astrological predictions. Among the 24 lunar charts the Pisces New Moon, which is called Hindu New Year horoscope, is of special importance as it give a general overview about how the year would be for a country. In my article ” Hindu New Year horoscope 2017 and prospects for India” posted on 28 March 2017 i had predicted a war like situation for our country during June to September this year.

Now the recent events in Kashmir and the ‘Sikkim standoff’ with China has made the war clouds are looming over sub-continent. In Pakistan the prime minister Nawaz Sharif is badly trapped in ‘Panama leaks’ and may be forced to resign any time during this year as per astrological analysis of the foundation chart of Pakistan. China on the other hand is repeatedly threatening India with dare consequence if it didn’t withdraw its troops from Doklam. China call Doklam its own whereas India and Bhutan says its belong to Bhutan.

India has a friendship treaty with Bhutan signed in August 1949. Later when China occupied Tibet then both nation came more close to each other. In 1958 then Indian prime minister Jawahar Lal Nehru visited Bhutan and later declared in the Indian parliament that any aggression against Bhutan would be seen as aggression against India. Since then India is committed to protect the borders of Bhutan. In 2014 current Indian prime minister Narendra Modi visited Bhutan to strengthen the ties between the two countries.

Now the unusually aggressive stand of China on the Dokala has made the bilateral relations between the two countries most strained since 1962 war. India had a bitter experience in war with China in 1962. Interestingly the planetary position of Saturn and Jupiter would be similar to in 2020 what it was in 1962. The Saturn and Jupiter would be conjoined in Capricorn in 2020 and in 1962 they were also in the similar position. Capricorn is the ascendant of the foundation chart of China and it is the 7th from the natal Moon of India. We will discuss it later in another post. Now first see the horoscopes of lunar and solar eclipses taking place during August this year.

Possible effects of two eclipses in August 2017

A partial lunar eclipse and a total solar eclipse will occur across the in the month of August 2017. The partial lunar eclipse of 6/7 August will be visible throughout India but the total solar eclipse of 21/22 August will not be visible here. The total solar eclipse will be visible across the 48 states of USA excluding Alaska and Hawaii. Such type of Total Solar eclipse was last seen in the USA during June 1979 and June 1918. As per the Varahamihira the the effects of eclipse are felt strongly at the places where they are visible. Thus the total solar eclipse in August is likely to effect USA in a great manner.

Lunar Eclipse

At the time of this lunar eclipse the Moon is in Capricorn sign which signifies north-western parts of India as per the Koorma Chakra. The Capricorn is also the rising sign of the foundation chart of China. The natal Moon of China is also in the Capricorn rashi which at the time of eclipse receive the aspects of Sun, Mars, Saturn and Jupiter. The predominant malefic aspect suggest the situation of war but the Jupiter giving aspect to the Moon at the time of eclipse will not let the war to accelerate for longer duration. India will face border skirmishes in Kashmir and North East during the months of August-September. The combined hostility from Pakistan and China will force Indian government to take an emergency action to improve its military strength at the border areas.

For India the fortnight starting from 7th of August will be very difficult. The country will be struggling with the situation of flood in its central parts as the Sun and Mars in Cancer suggest. The government of India will also face vigorous attack from the opposition parties , which the 10th lord Saturn in the 8th house of this lunar chart indicates. A scandal could hit the image of ruling party BJP at the center which would be very disturbing for the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi who’s Moon sign and ascendant is Scorpio influenced by transiting Saturn in retrograde motion.

A total solar eclipse will be visible across USA on the 21/22 August 2017. The Sun at the time of this eclipse will be in Leo which is the rashi of the foundation chart of USA and of its current president Donald Trump. The Sun at the time of this solar eclipse will be under the influence of Rahu and retrograde Saturn. Soon the Mars will also ingress over the eclipse point in the first week of September 2017.

Dangers of Earthquakes and cyclones in August-September 2017

This solar eclipse of August 21, 2017 will effect the Magha Nakshatra. As per Koorma Chakra the Magha Nakshatra represent the south-east direction. There could be a devastating cyclone in this direction affecting the south-eastern states of Odisha and Chattishgarh with heavy rain. This cyclone may come within 15 days of this solar eclipse or around the day of eclipse itself. The Saturn , Mars and Venus in watery rashi’s at the time of an eclipse can bring heavy rainfall and cyclones.

There are also chances of a strong earthquake hitting across the south-east Asian countries like Japan, Philippians, Indonesia etc. In the horoscope of solar eclipse the Sun and Moon are in an earthy navamsha. They are afflicted by Mars and Saturn in the Navamsha chart which makes a combination of a strong earthquake of the magnitude of 7.7 or more.

Recession and war may affect USA

This solar earthquake will be visible across 48 states of the USA from its east to west cost. Since last one hundred years it is the 3rd total solar eclipse which will be viewed in almost every part of USA in totality. The Leo, the sign of eclipse, is the ascendant of the foundation chart of USA and of its president Donald Trump. I have already written in my post “Donald Trump in war mood” that this year the USA may get trapped into a dangerous war with North Korea and it will eventually take this country towards a serious recession. The effect of eclipse will bring a political scandal affecting the image of Donald Trump badly. The USA and China will also come under confronting situation on the issue of North Korea which would be a dangerous event for the world peace. It might create a situation similar to ‘Cuba missile crisis’ of 1962. The war in Korean peninsula will also affect Japan very badly.

His ‘travel ban’ on the people from seven Muslim countries, crack down on H1B Visa, and his proactive foreign policy on Syria and North Korea sparked off global reactions. Trump has made it clear that after his ascendancy as the US President the era of ‘strategic restrain’ is now over and ‘all options’ are open to deal with North Korea who is constantly threatening the USA and its allies. The world is changing very fast after the US Presidential Elections of 2016 . The growing tensions between US, Russia, China, North Korea etc. is a dangerous sign for the world peace. Trump was born on the day of total Lunar Eclipse. Note the proximity of Rahu-Ketu to the luminaries (Sun and Moon) and the aspect of Mars on the natal Moon in debilitation. It is a dangerous combination which makes a person behaves like a lunatic. There is no benefic in Kendra (Square) from the Moon which makes it even more dangerous. As per the Brihat Jataka, Chapter XIII, Stanza I , Chandra Yoga Adhayaa the person born with Moon in a square from the Sun gets lower quality of wisdom, knowledge and skills. According to other classics like Saravali and Mansagari, one born on the day of Poornima or Full Moon behaves like lunatic. This yoga particularly applies where there is no behefic in Kendra from Moon and the ascendant or ascendant lord is also under malefic influences. In the Rasi chart of Trump the malefic Mars is in the ascendant and the lagna lord Sun is in Rahu-Ketu axis. However, the aspect of 5^th lord Jupiter on the Rahu and Sun is a saving grace here. But Jupiter, the Karaka of wisdom, is retrograde here and is in its enemy Rasi Virgo. Jupiter is receiving the aspect of Saturn from the 12^th house. According to some classics of Hindu astrology a retrograde Jupiter under the influences of malefic planets gives lack of idealism. This astrological combination is move effective when the 9^th house is also under the influence of malefic planets particularly Saturn. The 9^th house is the house of ethical behavior. I have observed in scores of horoscopes that when Saturn afflicts Jupiter and the 9^th house/lord then person can be very unthankful and is not trustworthy. This yoga gives its results when the lagan and Moon are under the bad influences.

Jupiter Dasa of Trump

Donald Trump was lucky that he got the maha Dasas of Sun ( 1975 to 1981), Moon ( 1981 to 1991), Mars ( 1991 to 1998) and Rahu ( 1998 to 2016) in sequence. All these planets are in Kendra making good ‘Karaka Yoga’. Sun is the lagna lord in the 10^th house receiving the aspect of 5^th lord Jupiter. Moon, though 12^th lord, is in ‘Neecha Bhanga Yoga’ as it receiving the aspect of its Rasi lord Mars which is Yoga Karaka here. Rahu is in great Raja Yoga as it is in the 10^th house along with lagna lord Sun and receives the aspect of 5^th lord Jupiter. He became president in the Dasa of Rahu-Mars in Vimshottari.

But now he is under Jupiter maha Dasa which is not in any kind of Raja Yoga. The Jupiter is away from Kendra unlike the previous Dasa lords which were making good ‘Karaka Yoga’. The Sage Parashara and Acharya Varahamihira have explained that strong planets in mutual Kendra’s make good ‘Karaka Yoga’. The Dasas of such Karaka planets is very helpful for the native. Donald Trump had the full advantage of these Karaka planets Dasa throughout his life. Now the Jupiter placed in the Maraka house receiving the aspect of Maraka Saturn will give him tough time. The Jupiter is in its enemy Rasi and receives the aspect of 6^th (strife and enemy) and 7^th (war) lord Saturn. The 7^th house is the house of war in mundane astrology.

The Dasa of Jupiter-Jupiter-Saturn ( 14 March 2017 to 15 July 2017) and later the Jupiter-Saturn ( 18 January 2019 to 31 July 2021) is indicating Trump putting USA in dangerous wars. On the 20^th of June this year the transiting Saturn will enter into Scorpio in retrograde motion which may make Trump lose his patient. He may then order US forces to wage a war in Syria.

In case of North Korea the exact time of their Independence is not known but we can cast the Moon chart (Chandra Kundali) on the basis of the date of independence available with us.

In the Chandra Kundali of North Korea the period of Rahu-Sun in Vimshottari is in operation. Rahu is in the 6th from the natal Moon of North Korea and Sun is in the 10th house of government. The transiting Saturn from Scorpio had already activated the 10th house from the natal Moon of North Korea. During the last one and half year, even since Rahu has been transiting in Leo, the North Korea has been igniting US and South Korea by test fairing its ballistic missiles. It also conducted two nuclear tests last year one in January and the other in September. North Korea’s dictator Kim- Jong- Un has conducted more number of missiles test than his predecessor his father Kim-Jong-il.

The Kim-Jong-Un assumed office in April 2012 after the death of his father. In his early years he was not very vocal and remain out of media coverage. But since last two and half years, ever since Saturn ingresses Scorpio sign, he has become very aggressive. He ordered the executions of many military officers and his own relatives for disobeying his commands. The United Nations Assembly condemned the human rights violations under his regime. Some media reports suggest that he is a diabetic and suffer from hypertension. There is no accurate birth details available for Kim-Jong-Un so we don’t have the luxury to analysis his personality through birth chart. But from the Moon chart of North Korea it is certain that its ruler is counting its last days.

Kim-Jong-Un may end-up having a major conflict with USA which could be more dangerous than the Korean war of 1950-53. In this war North Korea is likely to suffer a heavy defeat. The victory of the allied forces of USA, South-Korea and Japan may bring tensions for China and Russia. This will initiate a cold war like situation between the two groups which will eventually lead into a big war in 2020.

Astrological Forecast on French Presidential Elections 2017

In France the first round of presidential elections will be held on 23^rd of April 2017. Should no candidate register an outright victory then the second round of elections will be held on the 7^th of May. As per the opinion polls the French election is set to be a closely fought battle between the far right Marine Le Pen and Republican candidate Francois Fillon. The incumbent president and socialist party leader Francois Hollande has already announced that he will not stand for reelections amid dismal popularity ratings of his government. Meanwhile Emmenuel Macron a former civil servant and investment banker is now giving tough challenge to the Fillon and Le Pen. The horoscopes of these three candidates are available on the Lois Rodden’s astro data bank web site along with their birth certificates in hand.

Balance of Dasha in Vimshottari: 8 years 7 months 8 days

In the Capricorn (Makar) lagan chart of Emmenuel Macron the enigmatic Rahu-Saturn period is running in Vimshottari at present. Earlier he was a member of the French Socialist Party holding ministerial post in the government of Francois Hollande’s government. He resigned from the post in August 2016 in order to bid for the Presidential Elections. Emmenuel Macron is now fighting these elections under the banner En Marche , a movement he founded in April 2016. Now it is Rahu-Saturn-Jupiter ( 22 February 2017 to 10 July 2017) dasha in Vimshottari in his horoscope.

The maha dasha lord Rahu is in the 9th house in Virgo sign which is good. But the position of anter dasha and pratyanter dasha lords are not good at all. The Saturn in the 8th house in enemy sign and Jupiter in the 6th is not a welcome thing. Moreover, there are not any great Raja Yoga of Kendra and Trikona in his chart which suggest that he can rise to the top position in politics. In the Navamsha and Dashamsha charts the Saturn and Rahu are both strongly place which has given him good popularity. But he is not likely to even become the leader of opposition as per my astrological understanding.

In Jaimini Chara dasha it is the Gemini-Scorpio ( 20 December 2016 to 21 July 2017) dasha is running. The Scorpio has the Atamakaraka Venus and the Gemini is the 8th house from it. The dasha period in Jaimini is also not good for Mr. Macron.

The Mercury is conjoined with the 12^th lord Sun and 8^th lord Mars is not very helpful to attain a higher position of authority. At the time of elections she would be running under the Vimshottari Dasha of Rahu-Jupiter-Saturn ( from 30 January 2017 to 18 June 2017). The maha Dasha lord Rahu and Bhukti lord Jupiter are in 6/8 axis in the Rashi chart. The Rahu is in the 7^th house and its depositor Jupiter is falling in the 12^th house of losses. In Dashamsha the Jupiter is debilitated. The sub-sub period lord Saturn is in the 8^th house of Rasi chart in Vipreet Raja Yoga.

In transit the Saturn moving from Dhanu is over the Kemadruma Moon of Le Pen. The transiting Saturn over the Janma Nakshatra and in the 4^th house from the ascendant is generally not taken as favorable. So as per the Parashari system she is under a weak Dasha and transit at present.

In Jaimini Chara Dasha the period of Pisces-Taurus ( 6 March 2017 to 5 October 2017) will be running at the time of elections. The Amatayakaraka Mercury is giving aspect to the 12^th house from Pisces. The sub period Rasi Taurus is the 8^th house from Karakamsha. So the Chara Dasha is also not very favorable. However, she will become the leader of opposition.

Now see the horoscope of Francois Fillon who is believed to be economically liberal and favors pro-business reforms and tax cuts. In the Virgo lagna chart of Mr. Fillon the 10^th lord Mercury falls in the 6^th house but is involve in a good Raja Yoga with 9^th lord Venus. The lagan and 10^th lord Mercury along with 11^th lord Moon and 2^nd lord Venus is also forming a Dhana yoga there. He is under the Vimshottari Dasha of Ketu-Mercury ( 28 November 2016 to 26 November 2017) at present. Ketu is in the 10^th house of career receiving the aspect of 3^rd and 8^th lord Mars. The aspect of Mars on the 10^th house explains astrologically the hard line stand of Mr. Fillon against the Islamist terrorism. He has published a book on the subject title “ Beating Islamic Totalitarianism”. He has also pledged to reform immigration and renegotiate the Schengen agreement in order to strengthen France’s borders.

The depositor of Ketu is Mercury who’s anter dasha is running at present. Mercury is Vargottama lagna and 10^th lord in the 6^th house. This Dasha can give him lots of controversies but since these Dasha lords are Vargottama and strongly placed in Upachaya houses so they can confer him a position of power. In Dasamsha the Ketu is in the 5^th house receiving the aspect of its lord Jupiter which is very good. The anter dasha lord Mercury is in own sign in the 8^th house showing the chances of a surprise victory.

In transit the Saturn will be moving from Dhanu where in Sarvashataka Varga he gets 45 points which is an exceptionally strong position. In the Bhinnashtaka Varga of Saturn the Dhanu (Sagittarius) gets 6 points which is also consider very good. So the transit of Saturn from Sagittarius is highly favorable for Mr. Fillon.

In Jaimini Chara Dasa the period of Cancer-Aries ( 2 January 2017 to 3 June 2017) will be running at the time of elections. From Cancer the Amatayakaraka Jupiter is well placed in the 11^th house but the Atamakaraka Venus comes in the 8^th house. The anter dasha sign Aries is the 8^th house from ascendant showing the possibilities of some controversies troubling his election campaigns. However, since the Amatayakaraka Jupiter is giving its aspect to the 10^th from Aries so a victory looks assured for Mr. Fillon.

Swearing-In of Donald Trump and Declining Years of USA

The first important decision Donald Trump took after his swearing-in as US president is to put a temporary ban on refugees and immigrants from seven Muslim majority countries. This controversial order sparked of global reaction and many protests took place across the western democracies. Trump has also issued executive orders to build a wall at the Mexico border, a clamp down on H1B Visa and a clear eye focus on south-china sea disputes. I had already predicted about the possibilities of these happenings on the basis of the horoscope of Donald Trump and the foundation chart of USA in my article Is Trump is the one who is going to dump America ? written on 20 December 2016.

The horoscope of Donald Trump suggest that his actions as the US president will contribute to the process of the decline of country as the global superpower. Trump’s stupidity will bring lots of humiliation for him and his country. His horoscope and the swearing-in chart suggest the possibility of him being charged for impeachment during the second half of his tenure.

The oath taking day and time is traditional fixed for US presidents. So Donald Trump had no choice whatsoever on selecting an auspicious time for swearing-in as politician do have in many cases. In the swearing-in horoscope the Aries (Mesha) sign is rising in the ascendant and in Navamsha Libra (Tula) sign is rising. The movable sign rising in the ascendant shows that Trump’s working style will be very dynamic and aggressive.

The lagna lord Mars in the 12th house in mutual aspect with 12th lord Jupiter place in the 6th house shows that Trump’s decision making in the office will create many international disputes.
The 10th lord (seat of power) in the 8th house in Rashi chart is an astrological possibility of an impending danger of impeachment case being charged against Donald Trump.
The Rahu in the 5th house and the 5th lord Sun receiving the aspect of Saturn shows the possibility of a controversial decision on ‘abortion law’.
The exchange of houses between the 6th lord Mercury and the 9th lord Jupiter is a combination of disputes with judiciary. Trump’s government will have many clashes with the apex court on different issues. The differences between judiciary and Trump will reach at the point where constitutional crisis may emerge in the country.

Trump’s decision on the travel ban was put on stay by a Seattle court on the 4th of February. President Trump called the judge’s suspension of immigration ban ‘ridiculous’ and says that it will be overturn. Now this is the beginning of Trump’s clashes with the judiciary. There will be many more such incidents which will bring a constitutional crisis in the country.

I have discussed in details about astrological yoga’s present in the horoscope of Donald Trump in my article The US Presidential Elections 2016: the verdict of planets written on 13 July 2016. Now i will given some details about the coming dashas in the horoscope of Trump astrologically explaining why he looks so threatening for the world peace.

(a) The Vimshottari maha dasha of Jupiter was started on 28th of January. The Jupiter is retrograde in Rashi chart. It is in its inimical rashi and receiving the aspect of Saturn which is a ‘Maraka’ planet for Leo ascendant.

(b) Jupiter is place in the ‘Maraka’ house i.e. 2nd house and is receiving the aspect of a ‘Maraka’ planet.

(c) The position of Jupiter in the Rashi chart is threatening from the point of view that it is receiving the aspect of Saturn which is the lord of 7th house of war and the 6th house of strife. During the tenure of Trump the USA will enter into many wars.

(d) The period of Jupiter-Saturn ( January 2019 to July 2021) will be the most dangerous as during this time the transiting Saturn-Jupiter will also reach at Capricorn the 6th house of Trump. In year 2020 the Trump may put USA at the risk of war with China.

(e) Now see the Navamsha and Dashamsha lordship of Jupiter, it has become functional malefic there. Jupiter is debilitated in the Dashamsha chart which is not good for Trump’s reputation in office. During Jupiter-Saturn period in 2019 the Donald Trump might face an impeachment against him which will be supported by many of his party MP’s.

(f) In Jaimini Chara dasha the period of Cancer will start from June 2018. The Cancer being the 12th house from ascendant is having Ganatikaraka and Darakaraka in it. The combination of the Ganatikaraka and Darakaraka in a Rashi dasha of national ruler shows make him pron to put his country in a war.

(g) The period of Cancer-Taurus from February 2019 to October 2019 will be dangerous for the health and safety of Trump. The Taurus having his Atamakaraka Sun shows the period of fall. Trump will have to defend himself against an impeachment attempt and constitutional crisis in year 2019.

(h) In Trump’s horoscope the Dwadashottari dasha is applicable as the rising sign of his Navamsha is owned by Venus. The Dwadashottari is applicable when the rising sign of Navamsha is either Taurus or Libra. The dasha of Saturn-Rahu from April 2017 to November 2019 in Dwadashottari shows humiliation for Trump because of his controversial actions.

Declining Years of USA

The USA has been enjoying the status of global superpower since the fall of USSR in 1989. However, things have been changing since last one and half decade. The Russia is becoming stronger since 2000 when Putin assume power there and brought economic revival of the country in a very short period. Russia under Putin is now standing up against NATO in Europe and Middle-East. China is also challenging the might of USA in the south-china sea region.

Astrologically the horoscope of USA also suggest that its declining years are about to come very shortly.

Foundation Chart of USA

In the Leo lagna horoscope of USA the maha dasha of Rahu will start from the October 2018. The current dasha of Yogakaraka Mars started in October 2011 has revived the economic condition of the country after the global recession of 2007-08. But since the Mars is in mutual aspect with 6th and 7th lord Saturn so this period has also brought many tensions in diplomatic relations with some countries. The things are likely to get worst during the rule of Donald Trump. The period after October 2018 will be difficult for the USA when it will get the maha dasha of Rahu in her foundation chart.

The Rahu is place in the 12th house and its depositor Moon is in the 7th house of war. See the planets falling in the 12th from Rahu there are as many as four planets there. This indicate loss of power and status for the country during 18 year long Rahu dasha starting from October 2018.

War in 2020

The USA will enter into a deadly war in 2020 when the transiting Saturn and Jupiter would be in Capricorn which is the 12th house from its natal Moon.
