Forecasting Trends for the South-West Monsoon for India in 2024

According to Bhavishya Phala  Bhaskar, a book of Mundane astrology, when Jupiter moves behind the Sun in transit, it drench the earth with water, i.e., it rains heavily during the rainy season. This year, at the end of the month of May, Jupiter will be behind the Sun in terms of longitudes in the  Taurus sign . This planetary position will create the possibility of good rainfall in the month of June along with the early arrival of monsoon in many states  this year. At the end of May and the first fortnight of June, the conjunction of the auspicious planets Jupiter, Venus and Mercury with the Sun in Taurus sign will create conditions of very heavy rainfall in South India and West Bengal. Along with this, there are chances of earthquakes in the northern and eastern parts of India around the new moon of June 6, due to which there may be loss of life and property at some places. In my article ‘Forecasting Trends for the Summer Season 2024  for India’, published at this blog on the 11th of March 2024 i had forecast an early onset of South West Monsoon over Kerala. I had also made a prediction that during summer season the temperature will be higher than the normal particularly in the month of June due to the transit of Mars from the fiery sign Aries.
The conjunction of five planets in the earth element sign Taurus will create the possibility of more than normal rainfall in South, West and Central India in the month of June on the New Moon day of May 6th . In North India too, there are chances of thunderstorms, lightning and thunderstorms around the new moon day of June 6th . The South-West  Monsoon may arrive in Goa by June 5th , in Mumbai and Raipur  before June 10th  and in  Nagpur city before May 15th.

In the second week of June 2024 there is a possibility of some unseasonal rainfall in the northern states of India due to the conjunction of five planets in Taurus sign. Out of these five planets 4 are in Rohini Nakshatra which falls under “Pawan Nadi” ruled by the Sun in Sapta Nadi Chakra. This combination can give disastrous flash floods in the hilly areas of North India especially in Uttarakhand. There will be losses of lives and properties in Bihar, Jharkhand, parts of West Bengal and Eastern Uttar Pradesh due to lightening, storm and unseasonal rainfall.

An earthquake is also likely in the month of June, especially around the New Moon, in the area of North and Eastern parts of the country. Five planets (the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus and Jupiter) are in earthy sign Taurus. Saturn and Mars are in earthy Navamsha Taurus. The luminaries (Sun and Moon) are in watery Navamsha Cancer shows these natural calamities.

Since Rohini Nakshatra in Koorma Chakra comes under the central parts of India so there will be an early onset of monsoon in states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra this year. The Mumbai, Raipur, Bhopal and Nagpur may receive very good rainfall during 7th of June to the 21st of June.

Tithi: Shukla Poornima, Vaar: Friday, Nakshatra: Moola, Yoga: Shukla, Karana: Bava

This year the Sun will enter into Ardra Nakshatra (asterism) on the day of Full Moon i.e. Purnima which is considered very auspicious as per the classical text Varsha Prabodha. The week day lord (Vaar Swami) is Venus as the Ardra Pravesh is occurring on Friday. Venus is the watery planet as per the classical texts of astro-meteorology. The day lord, yoga and Karana are all very auspicious. However, at the time of Ardra Pravesh the Moon is in Moola Nakshatra which as per Varsha Prabodha gives disease and fear to men’s and also the weakness. Because of the heavy rainfall there will be spread of viral fever in some parts of the country during monsoon season.

  1. The rising sign at the time of Sun’s entry into Ardra Nakshtra is Pisces which is 100% watery sign. The benefic planets Mercury, Venus and the Moon are in Kendra from the lagna and also the Sun which shows sufficient rainfall as per the long period average in the country. The Navamsha is Cancer which also a full watery sign.
  2. Jupiter is behind the Sun which as per Bhavishya Phala Bhaskar is a very good yoga for the rainfall. Venus and Mercury are ahead of the Sun which is another auspicious yoga for the bountiful rainfall.
  3. However, the lagna is in Paap Kartari Yoga in both Rashi and Navamsha of the Ardra Pravesh chart. This yoga can give destruction to the crops in the initial stages of sowing particularly in southern states of the country during the month of June. Southern and central states can get excess rainfall during the month of June.
  4. Mars will remain behind the Sun throughout the monsoon season (June-September). There will be around 95% to 100% of rainfall foreseen as per the long period average (LPA) . In year 2022 the LPA for the south-west monsoon season (June-September) has been revised to 868.8 mm based on the data from 1971 to 2020.
  5. Monsoon may reach UP and Delhi-NCR early The official date for the onset of monsoon in eastern Uttar Pradesh is 20th of June, in western Uttar Pradesh it is 25th and in Delhi-NCR it is 1st of July. This year the south-west monsoon may drench this region a bit early which will be good for the farmers of Uttar Pradesh in particular. In the last week of June around 28th and 29th there will be very good rainfall in the western Uttar Pradesh. Delhi-NCR may also receive good rainfall around this time. Mercury will enter into watery sign Cancer on the 29th of June will bring very good rainfall in the Delhi-NCR region during the first week of June month.

The horoscope of the Sun’s entry into Leo shows some dangerous combinations for an earthquake in many parts of the world. The earthquake prone regions of Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Parts of India will get some tremors. The concentration of major planets Jupiter, Mars and Saturn in mutual Kendra in close degrees is a surest indication of a big earthquake which will affect India in the month of August especially during the middle of the month. There will be less than normal rainfall in the eastern states like Odisha, Assam, West Bengal etc in the second half of August month. On the Full Moon (Purnima) of 20th of August there will be more danger of destruction from an earthquake, landslides and cloud burst in the hilly areas of India and Pakistan.

Destructive rainfall will bring losses of lives and properties in Gujarat and Maharashtra in the second fortnight of August month. On the 22nd of August Mercury will move into Cancer sign from Leo in retrograde motion which will bring extremely heavy rainfall in many parts of the country.

Delayed withdrawal of monsoon foreseen

In the month of September, the Sun will enter into Virgo on the 17th and receive the aspect of Jupiter which would be transiting in Taurus sign. This will bring fresh spell of rainfall in the southern peninsular of the country. There will be delayed withdrawal of south-west monsoon from central India due to the aspect of Jupiter on the Sun which would be transiting in Virgo sign in conjunction with Mercury and Ketu bringing some erratic rainfall in the central and southern parts of the country. The state of Bihar and Jharkhand signify by Taurus sign will get good rainfall in the second fortnight of September and also in the first week of October.

Conclusion: As per the planetary directions discussed above there is likely to be an early onset of south-west monsoon over Kerala this year. In the month of June there will be more than the normal rainfall in Southern states, central parts of India and also in hilly region of North India particularly in Uttarakhand. During 1st of June to 16th of July there will be more than normal rainfall in the country. In the month of August-September there could be less than normal rainfall. During the entire south-west monsoon season (June-September) there will be 95% to 100% of rainfall foreseen. The southern and western parts of the country will get more than normal rainfall. There will be a danger of strong earthquakes during the month of June and also in August. The incident of could burst, landslides and flash floods will give heavy losses of lives and properties in UP, Bihar and Uttarakhand during the month of June this year.

Jupiter’s transit from Taurus sign will give good production of milk products as the availability of fodder for the animals will be in abundance  due to good monsoon rains this year.

On the upcoming Ashwin Amavasya, on Saturday, October 14, from 8:34 PM to 2:35 AM Indian Standard  time, a long solar eclipse will be visible in large parts of North and South America. This annular solar eclipse will have a long duration, which is  a very alarming planetary indication. In the horoscope of the annual solar eclipse of 14th of October 2023, due to the influence of the major malefic planets (Mars, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu) on the auspicious Jupiter, it makes this solar eclipse the most unique among the last few major eclipses since December 2019. At the time of this solar eclipse, the Sun will be in Virgo on the New Moon Day. And there will be a conjunction of Mercury with the Moon in Virgo. According to Brihat Samhita, the fifth century treatise written by Varaahamihir, the eclipse in Virgo will bring harm to crops, poets, scholars, writers, singers, stonemasons and the country of Tripura, the major paddy producing states. At the time of solar eclipse of 14th of October , the effect of Mercury on the Sun and the Moon is inauspicious for ghee, honey, oil and kings as per the Brihat Samhita. Hence, this eclipse will reduce rainfall and increase inflation.

This eclipse is falling in Chitra Nakshatra under which those working in the professions like jewelry, fashion designing, writers, jewelers, lyricists, perfume traders, mathematicians, textile industries, surgeons, big hotels making food items for the rich, etc. will be negatively affected.

At the time of eclipse, due to the influence of Virgo and Chitra Nakshatra, the prices of gold and silver will increase. The price of gold in India today (12th of October) is ₹ 5,400 per gram for 22 karat gold and ₹ 5,891 per gram for 24 karat gold (also called 999 gold). These prices of gold will increase in next 30 days. The prices of designer clothes and jewelery will also increase. There are chances of big jewelers, fashion designers, artists, journalists getting caught in controversies in the next 30 days. Due to the affliction on Virgo, the prices of grains may also increase, especially of rice because this year there are chances of less than normal rainfall in the rice producing southern states of India between October and December. Due to the affliction of Virgo, there will be the highest risk of earthquake in Panama and Peru as per Avakahada Chakra. At the time of this annular solar eclipse, Mars in Libra, an airy sign, would be in trine with  Saturn in Aquarius another airy aliment sign ,and the aspect of both Saturn and Mars on Jupiter is a sign of some major crisis in America’s stock market and politics. This   will have a bad impact on the Indian markets too. Apart from this, there will be some political crisis in South America and a danger of an air crash due to affliction to the airy element sign by major planets. There are also astrological possibilities of the spread of a mysterious disease or fever particularly in South American countries. The fall of USA stock markets may also bring troubles for Asian stock traders. At the time of this annular Solar Eclipse the Gulika is in the Gemini which is the zodiacal sign of USA indicating some major financial scam and a political disturbance there also.

The noticeable point in the horoscope of Solar Eclipse of  14th of October 2023 is the position of Sun and Mars, the luminaries, in Virgo Rashi and Virgo Navamsha. The Virgo is an earth element sign and does indicate towards some powerful earthquakes about which we have mentioned above.

Saturn-Mars ‘Samsaptaka Yoga’ in July-August 2023

On the coming June 30the, Mars will leave Cancer and enter Leo sign, where it will remain till August 18th. Mars usually transits in one sign for 45 to 50 days. If any other malefic planet such as Saturn, Rahu-Ketu or Sun comes in the Kendra (quadrant) position from the transiting Mars, then due to some violent incidents, natural calamities and inflation etc., the general public suffers is what classical texts of Mundane astrology has generally discussed.  This time, during the transit of Mars in Leo for 48 days, Saturn will be in Aquarius.  Saturn in its retrograde motion, right in front of Mars making a  ‘Samasaptak Yoga’ will bring some upheavals and political violence. Interestingly during the same time there will be an ‘Adhikmaas’ or Additional month. This year the lunar month of Shravana has Adhikmaas about which classical text gives some bad results related with an erratic rainfall and an earthquake. The Adhikmaas will be from 18 July to 16 August about which i had earlier discussed in my article ‘Forecasting Trends for the South-West Monsoon in 2023‘.

The aspects between malefic planets like Mars and Saturn will afflict Leo and Aquarius signs. It affects the axis of fourth-tenth houses  in the horoscope of independent India,  the lagna and 7th house  in  USA foundation horoscope and twelfth and sixth houses axis in the Russia’s foundation horoscopes. We will study the effects of these individually on all three charts in this post.

Gold and silver prices may increase 

According to Bhavishya Phala Bhaskar the  gold, silver, copper and red colored items become expensive during the transit of Mars in Leo. Interestingly, at the time of this transit of Mars in Leo (30 July to 18 August) , Venus will also enter Leo sign  on the July 7th , where due to its retrograde position, it will stay for a long time.
This transit of Venus and Mars in Leo and their opposition with Saturn is an astrological indication of a new political debates and populist policies on women’s and farmers issues in the country. Since Leo is the fourth house of India’s Taurus ascendant horoscope and Aquarius is the 10th house where Saturn is transiting at present. Therefore, this transit of Mars and Venus is also a sign of change in the Union Cabinet in the coming few days. Some big leaders may be discharged from the Union Cabinet in a very surprise manner while some women politicians may get important responsibilities in the government. In the foundation horoscope of India given below the Anter Dasha of Venus will start from the 11th of July in the Maha Dasha of Moon running current. The maha dasha and anter dasha lords both being feminine planets indicates women related issues getting more attentions in the country in months to come.

Alarming rise in the sudden heart attack death cases in India has prompted the Health Ministery of India to direct AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) to conduct research on the matter. The report will get published by ICMR after the study of sudden rise in cardiac arrest cases after the COVID-19 Pandemic. 

In Vedic Astrology Leo is the sign of heart in natural zodiac. As per classical text on medical astrology Veerasimahavalokam if Sun is in Aquarius in a natal horoscope, then person have risk of a  heart ailment. In mundane astrology it has been observed that whenever Leo-Aquarius axis get afflicted then news about sudden heart attacks death cases  become prominent in the  newspapers. There will be abnormal rainfall during the next 45 days during the monsoon season, especially after July 7th when Bihar and Uttar Pradesh will receive extremely heavy rains, but Delhi, Punjab and Haryana may receive less than normal rainfall. In the lunar month of Jyeshtha Sun was in Rohini Nakshatra during 25th of May to 5th of June. During that time there was unseasonal rainfall in Delhi-NCR, while in Eastern UP and Bihar scorching heat gave trouble to the people. At the time of Sun’s transit from Rohini such weather symptoms are a clear indication for the erratic rainfall in coming days. There will be losses of lives and properties due to flood in Eastern UP and Bihar. But in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana rainfall  may be less than the normal. Similarly Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh will also receive extreme heavy rainfall during the Adhikamss period from 18th of July to 16th of August this year.

An earthquake of more than 6.7 at rector scale can come around the time of Amavasya of 17th of July which may give troubles to the people living in Himalayan region. Mars, Mercury and Venus will be ahead of Sun during this period which is a yoga for erratic rainfall. There will be losses of lives and properties in some parts of West and Central India due to heavy rains.

In the  Virgo ascendant of Russia, the period of a difficult Vinshottari dasha of Rahu-Mars-Saturn is running from 6th June to 5th August.  Rahu is in the 5th house along with Saturn and Moon showing a period of agony for Russia. Vladimir Putin has recently faced a rebellion from his own private army Wagner Group.
In Russia’s Virgo Ascendant horoscope, transit of eighth lord Mars over Gulika in the 12th  house of loss is a sign of some major national crisis in the month of July. Rare Green Comet and Brihat Samhita’s Rules for Forecasting Earthquakes

The green comet has been in the sky for nearly about a month since middle of January 2023. The comet has now travelled outwards away from earth in its orbit and will not be visible in the skies above the Earth for next fifty thousand’s years. As per the classical text of Mundane astrology ‘Brihat Samhita, which was written in 5th century AD, if the comets are visible in the sky or stars break then there will be earthquakes in the constellation of fire circle i.e. Agnay Mandal. Pushya, Kritika, Visakha, Bharani, Magha, Purva-Phalguni and Purvabhadrapada are Nakshatra’s or constellation of fire circle as per Brihat Samhita. Coincidentally, the earthquake that occurred in Turkey and Syria was in the constellation Magha of the fire circle (Agni Mandal). On the day of 6th of February Moon as in Magha Nakshatra in the constellation of fire circle.

Turkey and Syria Earthquake has  left hundreds of thousands (lakhs) people homeless and took the lives of more than 35 thousand in the devastation which is increasing day by day. Three days before this earthquake, a geologist from the Netherlands had predicted on Twitter that a big earthquake could happen anytime in the countries of Middle East Asia. Now the same Dutch researcher Frank  Hoogerbeets is claiming  that in the coming few days, a major earthquake may occur in Afghanistan as well, which may affect a large area of Pakistan and India. According to Hoogerbeets this seismic activity will start from Afghanistan will end in the Indian ocean after crossing Pakistan and India.

Renowned astrologer of the last century, Dr. BV Raman has given some astrological formulas after extracting the horoscope (planetary position) of more than 200 major earthquakes. In his book ‘Astrology in Predicting Weather and Earthquakes’ at page number 66 Dr. Raman has given some important clues along with some examples of his past predictions about Earthquakes.

According to Garga Samhita, earthquakes mostly occur around eclipse, Full moon or new moon.

When major planets like Mars, Saturn, Rahu and Jupiter are in mutual Kendra (Square) or Trikona (Trine)  then there is more possibility of earthquakes. Major earthquakes mostly occur during midnight, noon or early morning.

When the big planets are in the signs of the earth element (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) or the signs of the air element like Aquarius, Libra or Gemini, then very severe earthquakes can occur.

At the time of the Turkey and Syria earthquakes, Mars was in the earthy sign Taurus and Saturn was transiting in the airy sign Aquarius. Venus was also in Aquarius and the Sun was moving in the earthy sign Capricorn. The earthquake occurred in the early hours of the morning, the next day after the full moon of February 5th, 2023.

Omens to be seen in nature before a big earthquake

In the classical text Brihat Samhita a complete chapter has been dedicated towards earthquake forecasting. In the chapter number 32 ‘Bhukampa Lakshana Adhyay’ some major omens have been mentions which are to be observed in forecasting earthquakes.

According to Acharya Varahamihira, before an earthquake in the constellations of Vyavya Mandal , there is smoke in the sky all around, dusty storms, and the rays of the sun slow down. In the constellations of the fire circle, before the earthquake, stars break or meteorite falls, Digdaah is seen, strong wind and forest fire are also observed. Coincidentally, the earthquake that occurred in Turkey and Syria was in the constellation Magha of the fire circle (Agni Mandal). On that day, a green comet was seen in the sky, which had appeared earlier from the earth 50 thousand years ago. According to Varahamihira, the effect of these omens can last for two months.

Effects of Appearance of Green Comet

Therefore, due to the effect of this green comet, if any other earthquake occurs in the next two months around new moon or full moon then it will not be a surprise.  But we would like to repeat here once again that the intensity of the earthquake and its direction is very difficult to forecast. In the ‘Ketu-Chaar-Adhyay’ chapter number 11 of Brihat Samhita the effects of the visibility of different comet’s in the sky has been discussed in details. As per the sloka number 11 of this chapter the appearance of Green comet can give devastating fire accidents.

As per ‘Bhukampa Lakshan Adhya’ chapter number 32, at the time of appearance of a comet there is a danger of an earthquake in Agnay Mandal Nakshatra which are Pushya, Kritika, Vishakha, Bharinim Magha, Poorva Bhadra Pada and Poorva Phalguni. So during the transit of Moon from the above mention Nakshatra’s around the time of coming full Moon or New Moon there will be a danger of an earthquake and also a major fire accident.

The new moon of 20th February and the full moon of 7th March are very sensitive to natural calamities such as earthquakes and danger for the big leaders according to planetary calculations.

At the time of Full Moon of 7 March 2023 Moon is in Poorva Phalguni Nakshtra and would be in Kendra from major planets Saturn and Mars. The Nakshatra of Poorva Phalguni comes into ‘Agnaya Mandala’ which is very sensitive for an earthquake due to the appearance of the comet recently. At the time of Full Moon of 7th of March 2023 Mars would be in ‘out of bound’ motion as it is more than 21 degrees of declination. Thus, there will be a danger of an earthquake in the North-Western parts of India around the area of Hindukush region of Pakistan and Afghanistan. This earthquake may be measured for more than 7 at rector scale but it will not cause much damage as it was in case of Turkey-Syria earthquake recently.
