Planets and Forecasting South-West Monsoon 2021

May 23, 2021 By Sachin Malhotra

Mars will be transiting ahead of the Sun during  almost entire South-West monsoon season (June to September) this year. As per classical text of astro-meteorology this is a yoga for an  erratic rainfall along with some obstruction in the rain in between. Although till 20th of July there shall be good rainfalls as Mars will soon enter into Cancer on the 4th of June and will remain in this ‘full watery sign’ for almost one and half month. But afterwards there are possibilities of dry periods from the 20th of July onward in many parts of the country. Saturn transiting through Shravana Nakshatra in retrograde motion and Rahu’s transit from Rohini are other two indications of very erratic rainfall with some long dry periods in between and flood in some parts of the country .  All these yoga’s combine are forecasting  a very erratic South-West monsoon 2021 season with uneven distribution of rains as per both time and space.

The rainfall could be around 90% to 95%  of the long period average with lots of abnormal behaviour like concentrated heavy rain fall on small number of days at some areas and then long period of dryness which will give lots of troubles to the farmers during the sowing of seeds in the  Kharif season (monsoon crops).

Why so many cyclones and unseasonal rainfall in May 2021 ?

After cyclone Tauktae bring rainfall in almost entire South, North and Western parts of the country now there is a danger of another cyclone Yaas to hit the bay of Bengal next week as per the news report. The unseasonal rainfall in the month of May has already broken the record of 120 years in Delhi. Now around the upcoming lunar eclipse of 26 May another cyclone may create havoc in the Eastern Part of the country where this lunar eclipse will be visible. The state of Orissa, West Bengal and Assam can receive heavy rainfall immediately after this lunar eclipse of 26 May.

Sun enters into Taurus horoscope

Sun enters into Taurus chart 2021

cyclone in May 2021 forecast

Sun, Rahu and Mercury are know to bring cyclone storms. In the solar ingress horoscope of Taurus Sun, Rahu, Mercury and Venus are conjoined. In Navamsha chart Mercury, Jupiter, Sun and Mars are in watery which indicate good rainfall. This bring lots of unseasonal rains in the second fortnight of May and temperature is also below normal for the season. But these astro-meteorological disturbances are not a good indicator for  the south-west monsoon and also for the country. If the lunar month of ‘Jyeshtha’, which is from 27th of May to 24th of June, does not get high temperature then south-west monsoon is likely to bring less rain in North and central parts of the country in its last phase i.e. during  August and September months.

Why Sun’s entry into Taurus horoscope is so important ?

In Medini Jyotish (mundane astrology) there is an ancient tradition of forecasting harvest on the basis of solar ingress charts. The ‘kharif’ or Monsoon crops are cultivated around May-June in India, depending upon region, and are harvested during last week of September or October. As per Brihat Samhita, a 5th century AD classical text of Medini Jyotish, the horoscope cast at the time of Sun’s entry into Taurus (Vrishabha) sign gives indications about the harvest of crops which are sown during monsoon season. Sun enters into Taurus sign every year in the mid of May which is the time when many South-Indian states are under pre-monsoon rains. Rice, Maize and Cotton are major Kharif crops. In the South Indian states these crops are sown during May while in Western and Central India during June when they gets rain. In North the sowing season comes in early July.

As per Brihat Samhita’s ‘Sashya Jataka Adhyay’ chapter 39,  if there are benefic planets like Jupiter, Venus and Mercury in Kendra i.e. square of Sun at the time of its entry into Taurus sign, then the Kharif crops grows rapidly after sowing. Similarly the text says that if Sun has benefic planets on its either side or Sun gets the aspect of benefic planets then also the Kharif harvest will be good for the farmers. However, if there are malefic planets like Mars, Saturn, Rahu or Ketu in Kendra (square) position from Sun or they are associated with Sun then the crops may get damaged in some areas due to erratic rainfall and pests. Since last two years India has received bountiful of rains during South-West monsoon season and farmers has enjoyed good harvest. But this year there could be some erratic rainfall as malefic planet Mars is ahead of Sun in the solar ingress of Taurus chart.

Sun has  enter into Taurus on 14th of May this year at 23:37 hours IST (Indian Standard Time). The horoscope for Sun’s entry into Taurus is cast by taking place as Delhi which is capital of India. As we can see here Sun is associated with two benefic planets which are Mercury and Venus. But it is also in conjunction with a malefic Rahu. So there shall be some erratic rainfall this year. Jupiter, the most auspicious planet, is in the 10th house from Sun which is a good Kendra (square) position. So despite some erratic rainfall the Kharif harvest shall be very good. The South-West monsoon will strike the coastal areas of Kerala around 1st of June and it will give good rainfall during 3rd of June to 20th of July as Mars would then be transiting in Cancer sign which is a 100% watery Rashi. There shall be bountiful of rains in Southern States like Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra and Telangana. In Maharashtra and parts of central India there will be good rains in the last fortnight of June and in early July. So farmers in these areas will be able to do the sowing of seeds on time. But in Northern states there could be some troubles to the farmers as after 20th of July Mars will move into a dry sign Leo and it will be ahead of Sun in transit. So some deficient rains in Northern states like UP, Bihar, Punjab, and Haryana etc. may give some troubles to the farmers. Overall the production during the Kharif season will be good as at the time of Sun’s entry into Taurus there are benefic planets Mercury, Venus and Jupiter in Kendra from it.

Horoscope of Sun’s entry into Ardra Nakshtra in 2021

Now see the horoscope of Sun’s entry into Ardra Nakshatra which is given here. Gemini lagna is rising with Sun and Venus placed in it and Jupiter giving aspect to it. Jupiter’s aspect on the lagna, Sun and Moon will ensure that the rainfall will be normal i.e. around 90%  to 95% of the long period average. But Mars ahead of Sun is a classical combination of erratic behaviour of monsoon rains as per Bhavishya Phala Bhaskar. In Navamsha of the Ardra Pravesh chart Sun and Jupiter are in the lagan in mutual aspect with Moon, Saturn and Venus which also indicate some erratic rainfalls.

Sun enter into Ardra Nakshtra horoscope

Ardra Pravesh Kundali 2021

Mars and Saturn at the 1/7 axis during the entire month of June will give lots of destruction to crops because of some erratic rainfall. In the coastal areas there will be more than normal rainfall while in the plains there will be below average rains. The South-West monsoon will get delayed in reaching North and Western part of the country as the transit of retrograde Saturn in Capricorn shows deficient rainfall in these areas. The total cumulative rain fall in the South and Eastern part of the country will be more as compare to the North and Western parts. In the month of June and July there will be decent rainfall but in August and September there could be less than normal rainfall due to Mars transit from Leo and Virgo signs.

Horoscope of Lunar Eclipse of 26 May 2021

Lunar Eclipse of 26 May 2021

Now see this horoscope of lunar eclipse of 26th of May 2021 which will be visible in some parts of North-Eastern state of India. An eclipse just before the onset time of the south-west monsoon can bring strong meteorological disturbances which will make rainfall very erratic right from the beginning. In the first week of June coastal areas of Kerala and Tamil Nadu will get decent rainfall but in the interiors there will be deficient rains. Mars is ahead of Sun which is a classical yoga for disruption in the rainfall. South-West monsoon may reach late in Mumbai where the normal date for its onset is 10th of June. In Raipur, Bhopal, Nagpur, Nasik etc. it will also reach late. The central India may not get sufficient rainfall till the end of June.

South West Monsoon forecast for 2021

At the time of New Moon (Amavasaya) of 10th of July Cancer lagna rising with Venus and Mars in the lagan in mutual aspect with Saturn indicate good rainfall in the North and central parts of the country. During 10th of July to the 20th of July North Indian states like Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, UP, Rajasthan and the central parts of India like Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh there will be good rainfall. But after the 20th of July Mars will move into Leo which can bring some obstructions in the rainfall.

South West Monsoon forecast for India in 2021

Cancer sign mostly signify the central parts of country. Whenever some major planet enters into this sign we can observe some interesting meteorological developments in Madhya Pradesh and parts of  Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. Immediately after Sun’s entry into Cancer there shall be rains in these areas after 16th of July for at least 5 days.

Sun enters into Leo horoscope

17 August 2021, 01:17 hours at Delhi

South West Monsoon rains predictions for 2021

Normally Sun’s entry into Leo bring good rainfall in western parts of the country especially in Gujarat and Rajasthan. This year at the time of Sun’s entry into Leo it will get the aspect of retrograde Jupiter which will bring good rainfalls in these areas but in the other parts of the country there shall be less than normal rainfall for the season as Mars would be ahead of Sun.

Sun’s entry into Virgo Horoscope

17 September 2021, 01:18 hours at Delhi

Forecasting South-West Monsoon for India in 2021

At the time of Sun’s entry into Virgo sign Jupiter would have reached Capricorn in retrograde motion joining Saturn and Moon there. This will bring some good rainfall in the 3rd week of September month especially in some parts of Northern India. The state of Bihar and UP will get good rainfall then. But in the last week of September Sun will reach close of Mars which will again bring obstructions in the rainfall.

Thus south-west monsoon season is likely to end with around 90% to 95%  of rainfall only with lot of erratic behaviour giving troubles to the farmers. Out of 36 meteorological sub divisions many will face problem of deficient rains while in some there will be excess rainfall. The distribution of rainfall will be highly irregular in terms of  time and space. The Southern and Eastern part of the country may get sufficient rainfall while in North and Western parts there will be less than normal rain.

Planets and Forecasting Trends for the winter season 2020-21

November 7, 2020 By Sachin Malhotra

A very important conjunction of Saturn-Jupiter will take place from 20th of November 2020 when Jupiter will come into Capricorn sign. The conjunction of two major planets holding into Uttara-Ashadha Nakshtra and Sharavana Nakshtra in Makar (Capricorn) sign will bring a rainy and very cold winter season in 2020-21. We must also consider the ‘solar minimum’ (a period of solar activity when Sun Spots are almost negligible)  which usually gives very cold and rainy winters in the Northern hemisphere countries. Capricorn being a full watery sign having Saturn and Jupiter at the onset of winter season and Pisces being hold by Mars already is a clear indication of an early onset of winter season which will bring more than normal rainfall and extremely cold weather with record breaking snowfalls. The Capricorn is also an earthy sign by nature.

Last month in the mid of October the state of Andhra Pradesh got excess rainfall and unusual flood due to retreating monsoon. It has been observed the a transiting planet in Pisces, specially in Revati Nakshatra, bring unusual rainfall in Andhra Pradesh. Dr. B.V. Raman use to take Pisces sign and Revati Nakshatra for Andhra Pradesh. Now in the month of December excess rainfall is foreseen in the North-East monsoon season.

Planets & Forecasting Trends for the North East Monsoon in India for year 2020

Horoscope of Sun’s entry into Scorpio

16 November 2020, 06:54 hours at Delhi

astrological predictions about winter season 2020-21

As per the ‘Sasya-Jataka-Adhyay’ chapter number 39 of Brihat Samhita of Varahmihira the horoscope cast at the time of Sun’s entry into Scorpio gives indication about the crops which are sown in the winters and harvested in the summer. In India we know it as Rabi crops which are sown around mid November and harvested in April-May during the summer season. The major Rabi crops are wheat, barely, mustered, sesame and peas. As per Varahmihira if there are benefic planets in Kendra (square) from Sun at the time of its entry into Scorpio then it give very good summer harvest. Also if a benefic planet aspect Sun or benefic planets are in the 2nd and 12th houses from Sun then also the summer crops are very good. Now at the time of Sun’s entry into Scorpio a benefic planet Jupiter is in the 2nd house from Sun and another benefic Mercury is in the 12th house from Sun. So this is a very good indication for a great harvest during April-May for wheat, barely, mustered, sesame and peas in the Rabi crops season.

[Hindi] वृश्चिक राशि में आ रहे सूर्य लाएंगे रिकॉर्ड तोड़ सर्दी और किसानों के लिए यह बड़ी खुशखबरी !

Venus is in Virgo at the time of Sun’s entry into Scorpio which is also a good yoga for summer harvest as per Varahmihira. Venus in mutual aspect with Mars, which is in Pisces, is also a good yoga for rainfall and moisture. The early onset of winter season and good North-East monsoon will bring below normal temperature in the second half of November and also in December month this year.

Forecasting trends of winter season 2020-21 as per astrology

The weather in North India will start becoming cold quickly after the New Moon on the 15th of November when Sun and Moon are in conjunction in Libra sign.

As we have mention above that Capricorn and Pisces are watery sign as per astro-meteorology. In Navamsha Jupiter and Mars are in Capricorn and Venus is in Pisces. So major planets in watery sign and Navamsha will bring cold weather in early December with unusual snowfall in the hilly areas of Himalayas. The effect of which will make the northern states like Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana etc. to set in for an early winter season. This will be a good news for traders dealing in woollen clothes.

The farmers of wheat will also be happy as there will be higher than the normal rainfall in the month of December which will be good for the crops.

In India there could be a cyclone which will affect the western parts of the country with unusual rains within in 15 days of this eclipse. See Sun, Moon, Mercury, Ketu and Venus all are in Scorpio sign. These planets are in Anuradha and Jyeshta Nakshtra which signify the west and south-west direction. There could be unusual rains in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat after this solar eclipse of 14th of December. In Northern and North Eastern  Parts of the country temperature will be below normal for the season due to some major meteorological disturbances in Himalayan region. Farmers need to be very careful to protect their harvest from pestilence and locust attack.

Planets and Forecasting trends of the North-East Monsoon in India for year 2020

October 1, 2020 By Sachin Malhotra

The south-west monsoon season (1 June to 30 September) has ended with a surplus rainfall for the continuous second year. This year also i had made a forecast for the bountiful rain just like it was in year 2019 particularly after the solar eclipse of 21 June which had fallen on the same day when Sun entered into Ardra Nakshtra. My forecast about excess rainfall during this year’s south-west monsoon season was also published in the Express Star Teller magazine’s May issue. Now when the south-west monsoon clouds are withdrawing from North India they are likely to bring good rainfall in the state of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on their way back. This retreating monsoon blows from land to the sea gives rainfall mainly in southern states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and some parts of Karnataka and Telangana. As per my astrological observations this year North East monsoon will give excess rainfall in December though it may give below normal rain in October and average rainfall in November month. Before you read my analysis on it please go through this article posted on 16 May 2020 about South-West Monsoon rainfall.

Planets and Forecasting Trends for the South-West Monsoon in 2020

As per the news reports this year the rainfall was 109% of the long period average. The August was the most productive month with 127% rainfall while in June there was less than normal rainfall.

Indian received above normal rainfall this year – IMD

In astro-meteorology the position of Sun with respect to other planets is very important in the matter of forecasting rains. The benefic planets Jupiter, Venus and Mercury ahead of Sun bring bountiful of rains during monsoon season be it south-west monsoon or north-east monsoon. The malefic planets like Mars, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu ahead of Sun bring obstructions and deficiency in rainfalls. There are many other principals given in the classical text Bhavishya Phala Bhaskar which is the best book available on the subject of astro-meteorology.

Ketu may bring some delay in North-East Monsoon

This year from the month of October Ketu will be ahead of Sun which may bring some delay in the onset of North-East monsoon resulting in less than normal rains in the October month in southern peninsular.

Tula Samkranti or Sun’s entry into Libra horoscope

17 October 2020, 07:06 hours at Delhi

Astrological predictions about North-East monsoon in year 2020

In the month of October Ketu in Scorpio will be ahead of Sun which may bring little obstructions in the rains. At the time of Sun’s entry into Libra the aspect of Mars and Saturn on the Sun also confirm this deficiency in rains. Venus is in dry sign Leo and Mercury is retrograde with Sun showing high wind speed but less rain during the month of October. The wind flow from north India towards the south will also bring locust attack in the interior parts of many south-Indian states. India is facing worst locust attack since last 26 years from the months of March-April this year. The entry of North East monsoon will bring millions of locust to invade southern states of India in the last fortnight of October this year which will trouble the farmers. Ketu is in Scorpio, which is a sign signifying an insect, that can increase the breeding of locust in very high numbers. Scorpio or Vrischik is ‘Keeta Rashi’ in which when some malefic planets transit the problem of pestilence appears. It has also been observed that major planets transiting from the Nakshatra of Rahu and Ketu also bring major troubles from pestilence.

Since Ketu specifically signify ‘Sookshma Jeeva’ or insects so the current trouble of locust is likely to increase and continue for about next 1.5 years until Ketu move into Libra in March 2022.

Decent rainfall in November month Foreseen in Tamil Nadu

In the month of November the rainfall will be better when Mercury become direct on the 3rd day. Mars will be transiting in watery sign Pisces and it will be in mutual aspect with Venus in Virgo which is decent Yoga for rainfall. This will give some rains in the interiors of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Southern Karnataka. On the 14th of November Mars will become direct which will bring more rainfall in the southern peninsular.

New Moon horoscope

Astrological predictions about North East Monsoon in year 2020

In the horoscope of New Moon of 15th of November the conjunction of Sun, Mercury and Moon is giving promise of rains in the coastal areas of southern states. In the Navamsha of this chart Saturn, Mercury and Mars are in watery sign Capricorn. Sun and Moon are in airy sign Gemini in mutual aspect with Jupiter which can bring a cyclone or wind storm in the second fortnight of November month. There will be very good rainfalls in the city of Chennai at that time.

Jupiter moving into Capricorn will bring excess rainfall in December during North-East Monsoon season

On the 20th of November Jupiter will move into Capricorn which as per astro-meteorology is a watery sign. The entry of Jupiter into Capricorn will brings rains in the interior parts of Tamil Nadu and some other southern states. On the Full Moon of 30th of November Sun will be in Scorpio along with Mercury and Ketu in the mutual aspect with Moon in Taurus which promises very good rainfall in the month of December. Normally the month of December do not give much rainfall in the North East monsoon season. But in year 2020 there will be excess rainfall in the month of December. There will also be a severe cyclone in the month of December which will bring lots of destruction by rainfall in southern states of India.

Total Solar Eclipse

astrological predictions about North East Monsoon in year 2020

Total Solar eclipse 14 December 2020 predictions

At the time of solar eclipse of 14th of December all the planets will be in watery sign Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces respectively. In Scorpio Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Ketu are indicating extremely heavy rains immediately after this total solar eclipse. In Navamsha chart Sun and Moon are in watery Navamsha Pisces. Jupiter, Saturn, Ketu, Mercury and Mars are in airy Navamsha Aquarius. There will be  heavy rainfall in the southern peninsular because of a cyclone which might hit Maharashtra or Gujarat as at the time of Total Solar Eclipse Sun is in Jyeshtha Nakshtra which signify West direction. This cyclone may create such big metrological disturbances which will affect the entire Indian sub continent with very sharp decline in temperature.

The rainfall activity in the North East monsoon season will continue even after the month of December. Thus there may be excess rainfall during the North East monsoon season. Although in the month of October there will be less than normal rainfall and November will also bring only normal rainfall activity. But in December month extremely heavy rainfall activity will surprise the meteorologist. There could be losses of crops because of excess rainfall activity in the month of December during the North East monsoon season this year.

Planets and Forecasting trends for the south-west monsoon in 2020

May 16, 2020 By Sachin Malhotra

Indian meteorological department was forecasting a warmer than the normal summer season for India in 2020. But it turned out to be all different as the months of April and May are giving very moderate summer with above normal rainfall for the season. I had forecast  a moderate summers season with above normal pre-monsoon rains in my last blog post on April 4 with title ” Forecasting Trends of the Summer Season in  2020″

Now see these news reports in the month of February in which IMD forecast for warmer than the normal summer season in 2020.

March-May period likely to be hotter than the normal- IMD

At the time when Indian Meteorological department was forecasting a scorching summer with deadly heatwave it was astrology which made the correct forecast of a moderate summer with good pre-monsoon showers.

Unusually cool and wet April takes weather office by surprise

The above link is of a Hindustan Times report published on 1 May 2020 which says that Indian weather office was caught by surprise by the unusually cool and wet weather in April. As per the IMD’s rainfall data, between 1 March and April 26, 13 Indian states recorded large excess of rains by 60% above normal. Now the question comes why IMD fails to forecast this but astrology again get better of them ?

Indian Meteorological Department is not taking into consideration the factor of ‘cooling down of the sun’ i.e. solar minimum. I have been writing about it on my blog since last one year. Using this ancient principal given in Brihat Samhita i had correctly foretasted the excess rains during the south-west monsoon 2019 and then unusually cold and rainy winters in 2019-2020.

Sun is in sleep – Solar Minimum

Solar minimum is a period when Sun records very few activity of ‘sun spots’. In 2019 it was only in July and December when there were few sun-spots. Now since last 100 days there is no activity on the sun as per the web site of NASA. There is a 11 years cycle of Sun Spots which is usually studied by the scientists  then there is a cycle of 100 years, 400 years and also 2500 years which usually scientists do not study but astrologers knew. The sun spots not only effect our weather and temperature but its cycle is also used in forecasting wars, earthquakes and  famine etc.

Excess rains, flood and big Cyclones Predicted during 21 June to 31st of August in 2020

This year during the south-west monsoon season the transit of Saturn and Jupiter into Capricorn sign and Mars ingress from Pisces is indicating excess rainfall activity along with flood during 21st of June and 31st of August. In India the north and western part of the country will suffer from excess rainfall and flood after the solar eclipse of 21st of June this year. Long stay of Mars in Pisces, a watery sign, and the transit of Saturn from Capricorn which is also a watery sign along with the solar minimum has to give more than 100% of rains fall for long period average in the south-west monsoon season (June to September) in year 2020.

Apart from this the Vrishabha Samkranti Kundali of Sun indicate a very good monsoon crops or Kharif crops. The production of rice, soybean, millet (Bajra), sugarcane, corn, cotton, sesame, pluses  etc. will be very good in the Kharif season (winter crops) in 2020.

Sun’s entry into Taurus

14 May 2020, 17:17 hours at Delhi

astrological predictions for south-west monsoon 2020

At the time of Sun’s entry into Taurus the conjunction of two benefic planets Venus and Mercury with it and the auspicious aspect of Jupiter on it is showing good production of monsoon or Kharif crops in year 2020. This yoga also indicate a timely entry of south-west monsoon. But since Mars aspect the Sun in the Vrishabha Samkranti chart so there will also be lots of damage to the crops in some parts, specially in north and western parts, due to heavy rains and pestilence in the Kharif season this year.

The usual date of south-west monsoon hitting the coastal areas of Kerala is 1 June but this year it may get little late as Full Moon is coming on the 6th of June. It has been observed that south-west monsoon rainfall start around New Moon or Full Moon in the first week of June depending upon other factors.

In the horoscope of Full Moon  you can see that Mars is behind Sun which as per Bhavishya Phala Bhaskar is a good yoga for timely onset of rains. Jupiter is retrograde in watery sign Capricorn in the same Navamsha. The retrograde benefic planets are consider good for rain. Saturn, a natural malefic is also retrograde which may bring a just slight delay for monsoon clouds to reach in southern peninsula. But overall progress of the south-west monsoon will be decent in the first fortnight of the June.

By the mid of June south-west monsoon will cover Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. The cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar   and Raipur will be lashed-out with good rainfall in the mid of June this year.
