In the astro-meteorology the solar ingress and lunar charts are studied for the forecasting of seasonal trends. The position of the Sun and the Moon with respect to other planets is very important for giving an indications for meteorological disturbances. Apart from the rainfall and temperature we can also forecast the yield of crops cultivated during the monsoon (rainy) and also in the winter season. Astrological indications for the potential yield of Rabi crops sown in the winter season are given in the Sasya Jataka chapter of the fifth-century text, the Brihat Samhita. According to the Brihat Samhita, for the production of winter crops, especially wheat, the position of the benefic (Jupiter, Venus, unafflicted Mercury and the Full Moon) and malefic planets (Saturn, Mars and Rahu) relative to the Sun is observed at the time of the Sun’s entry into Scorpio.

This year, at the time of the Sun’s entry into Scorpio, the auspicious planet Jupiter was in Cancer and was giving its 5th aspect to the Su, which is a particularly favorable position for sowing wheat and gram crops. Venus, being in Libra and directly behind the Sun, indicates a good barley yield. The conjunction of Mars and Mercury in Scorpio with the Sun during their transit is good for the production of lentils and peas, respectively. However, Rahu and Ketu being in the Kendra houses (square) of the Sun and Saturn in the triangle may cause abnormal rainfall and severe cold, which may destroy oilseed crops like mustard in some areas.

When Nitish Kumar first became Chief Minister in March 2000, he was forced to resign after failing to secure a majority. However, since winning the Bihar Assembly elections in 2005, and becoming Chief Minister again, he has never looked back, despite all the political ups and downs. It was only after suffering a major defeat in the Lok Sabha elections in May 2014, he had hand over the Chief Minister’s post to his then senior party leader Jitan Ram Manjhi, remaining out of power for 10 months, before returning to power again in February 2015. He has held this position continuously ever since, constantly surprising political pundits by joining hands with the BJP and the opposition RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) on various occasions.

From an astrological perspective, the highly experienced Nitish Kumar’s choice of the new moon day for his swearing-in ceremony is a surprising element. According to the classical texts of Muhurta, Amavasya Tithi is not considered good for starting any auspicious work.

After completing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the voter list in Bihar, the Election Commission has announced the election dates. Voting for the 243-member Bihar Assembly will be held in two phases on the November 6th and 11th respectively, and the election results will be declared on November 14th . In the assembly elections held in October-November 2020, the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) won 125 seats in a closely fought contest, while the opposition Grand Alliance (Maha Gathabandandhan) had to settle for 110 seats. The BJP strengthened its position within the NDA, winning 74 seats, while the Janata Dal United (JDU), led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, had to settle for only 43 seats then.

Former political strategist Prashant Kishor has entered the election fray with his new party, “Jan Suraj,” to challenge the big names in Bihar politics. From an astrological perspective, the available horoscopes of the Jan Suraj Party, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Chirag Paswan, and the Leader of the opposition Tejashwi Yadav make this Bihar assembly election very interesting.
