Pinarayi Vijayan holds the record of being Kerala’s longest-serving Chief Minister, as well as the first Chief Minister in the state’s history to be re-elected and return to power after completing a full five-year term. For several decades, Kerala has witnessed a cyclical change of power every five years, following fierce electoral contests between the Congress party and the Left Front (an alliance of Communist parties). In the last elections held in April 2021 for the 140-member Kerala Legislative Assembly, the CPI(M)-led Left alliance, under the leadership of Pinarayi Vijayan, registered a resounding victory by winning 99 seats, while they restricting the Congress-led opposition alliance to a mere 41 seats in the state assembly. Currently, the 80-year-old Pinarayi Vijayan remains a popular leader in the state; however, his party is grappling with anti-incumbency sentiments following a decade in power.

Chart 1. Foundation Horoscope of Kerala

Influence of the double transit of Saturn and Jupiter
From an astrological perspective, Saturn—currently transiting through the sign of Pisces—is casting its aspect upon both Venus (the Lord of the Fourth House, or the ‘House of the Throne’) and the Moon (the Ascendant Lord) in the natal chart of the state of Kerala. Furthermore, Jupiter, in its current transit through the sign of Gemini, is giving its fifth aspect upon the Fourth House (the House of the Throne); this planetary alignment now signals a change of power equations within the state of Kerala.
The Moon is the significant of public opinion in mundane astrology. The Maha Dasha of Mercury and the Anter Dasha of the Moon can change public opinion in the state against the ruling CPI (M) government.
Chart 2. Annual Horoscope of Keralam

In the annual horoscope (Varsha Kundali) of Keralam for completed year 69 the Moon is with Rahu in the 12th house. The Moon (public opinion) is getting the aspect of natural malefic Mars and it is with malefic Rahu showing anti-incumbency against the ruling government. The Moon if associated with natural benefic in annual horoscope or Hindu New Year chart of the state can give pro-incumbency to the government whereas the afflicted Moon can give fall of the government due to discontent of the public. In the annual horoscope of Kerala the aspect of 8th lord Venus on the lagna is also not good for the ruling government. Thus opposition party Congress can get back into power in Kerala state after the election results on 4th of May.
The Central Government has recently approved the State Assembly’s proposal to rename the state of Kerala to ‘Keralam.’ According to the planetary periods (Dashas) and transits indicated in the state’s foundation chart, this change is poised to prove highly auspicious for the region in the future.
