Transit Jupiter in Gemini and Indian Affairs

July 11, 2025 By Sachin Malhotra

In Bhavartha Ratnakar Chapter number XIII Graha Mallika Yogas, translation by Dr. B.V. Raman the stanza number 12 to 16 deals with planets Atichari or fast-moving motion, and Vakri or retrograde motion. Planets in the 2nd from the Sun possess swift motion. While Planets in the 11th and 12th from the Sun gets into very swift motion. As per this text planets in the 7th and 8th from the Sun are Ati-Vakri or retrograde motion. As per the classical texts of mundane astrology benefic planets becoming Atichari or fast moving and the malefic planets moving into retrograde motion at the same time can bring calamities on earth.

क्रूरा वक्रा यदा काले सोम्या: शीघ्रास्तु चागता: ll

अनावृष्टि च दुर्भिक्षं नृपराष्ट्रभयन्करा :  ll ४ ll

{Bhavishya Phala Bhaskara, Graha Yoga Prakranam, Page 28, Stanza number 4}

Translation: If malefic planets (Saturn and Mars) are in retrograde motion and benefic (Jupiter, Venus and Mercury) are in fast moving motion then it brings loss of rainfall, famine and fear for the kings and his subjects.

अतिचारगते जीवे शनो वक्रत्वमागते ll

 न तत्पश्याम तोयं वै यद्वरां धारयिष्यति ll

{Bhavishya Phala Bhaskara, Graha Yoga Prakaranam, Page 28, Stanza number 5}

As per a Hindi classical text Bhavishya Phala Bhaskara if Jupiter is in fast moving motion and Saturn is retrograde in transit then water which holds the earth don’t become visible i.e. it destroys the rainfall during that season.

{Note: This article of mine was appeared in the June 2025 issue of the Modern Astrology Magazine. Now the same has been reproduce here for the readers of this blog}

The same classical  text says that benefic planets in retrograde motion and malefic in direct motion are good for the rainfall.

Erratic South-West Monsoon foreseen

Interestingly this year when Jupiter will come into Gemini sign on the 14th of May , as per Lahiri Ayanamsha, it will be in the 2nd house from the Sun thus becoming fast moving immediately after entering the sign. Jupiter will reach into Caner sign in the fast-moving motion on the 18th of October. Thus, covering an entire sign only in 5 months in its fast-moving motion.

Saturn will be in retrograde motion in Pisces sign from 13th of July to 28th of November. The south-west monsoon season (June-September) can bring very erratic rainfall as for the major part of its duration Jupiter will be in fast moving motion and Saturn will be retrograde then. In the second half of July there could be a cloud burst and landslide tragedy in hilly states of North India.

Mars will be in dry sign Leo and Virgo in most part of south-west monsoon season which can bring less than normal rainfall at many places particularly in southern peninsular signified by Virgo sign as per the Koorma Chakra , and also in Gujarat and Maharashtra region signified by Leo sign. The overall rainfall could be between 90% to 95% only of the long period average in the south-west monsoon season this year.

Heavy rainfall foreseen in North-East monsoon

Later on, the 19th of November Jupiter will become retrograde in Cancer sign and on the 5th of December it will again enter into the Gemini in retrograde motion only. On the 5th of December the Sun will be in Scorpio, so as per Bhavarth Rathankar rule Jupiter will be Ati-Vakri then. A retrograde benefic is good for the rainfall. The period of Jupiter’s retrograde motion in Cancer, a watery sing,  will bring very heavy rainfall in the southern peninsular, particularly in Tamil Nadu state, during the North-East monsoon season especially in the second half of November,  and also in the month of December. Jupiter will come into direction motion only on the 11th of March 2026. Then on the 1st of June 2026 when Jupiter will leave Gemini and move into Cancer sign it will be again in Atichari motion as it will be in the 2nd house from the Sun in transit.

Enigma of Jupiter’s Atichari motion

From the year 2024 to 2032 Jupiter will be in Atichari motion at the time of its entry into a particular sign. Jupiter will be in the 2nd house from the Sun or with the Sun or in the 11th or 12th from the Sun every  time  at  its entry into a Rashi . Thus, it will be in a fast-moving motion at the time of its entry into a sign making it Atichari continuously for many months. Interestingly Jupiter was in Atichari motion at the time of COVID-19 in 2020-21 and Saturn was retrograde then. At the time of Kedar-Nath cloud-burst and flash floods during the mid of June 2013 Jupiter was in Atichari motion in Gemini and Saturn was retrograde in Libra. More than 6000 people were died then (Refer link – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_North_India_floods) due to landslides and flash-floods in North Indian state of Uttarakhand.

During the period of  December 1971 Indo-Pak war Jupiter was in fast moving motion in Scorpio and Saturn was retrograde in Taurus.

Major Political crisis foreseen in India

Jupiter’s motion from the Gemini sign is known to bring major political upheavals in the central government as per some past observations. Last time when Jupiter was in Gemini sign during 31st of May 2013 to 18th of June 2014 then a change in central government had taken place as BJP came into the helm of affairs after winning an election with a clear majority ending 10 years long rule of Congress led UPA.

Jupiter was in Gemini from 15th of June 2001 to 5th of July 2002. During that period on 13th of December 2001 Indian parliament was attacked by Pakistani terrorist. The security persons successfully killed all the 5 Pakistani terrorists though 9 of our security staff also lost their lives and many got injured. In the last week of February 2002 Gujarat riots were also took placed which had shaken the central government of BJP as many of its allies got disenchanted with it. Parliament attacks and Gujarat riots both took placed during the period of Jupiter’s transit from Gemini and it made central government weak resulting into BJP’s surprise loss of general election in 2004.

Jupiter was in Gemini from 2nd of July 1989 to 20th of July 1990. This was the period of political instability in India at the centre. In January 1990 an insurgency break-out in Kashmir valley which leads of exodus of Hindu Kashmiri from the valley and tensions with Pakistan. There were tensions in the country due to Ram Mandir movement and anti-reservation protest after V.P. Singh government implemented jobs reservation for OBC (other backward cast) in government sector. This political instability during Jupiter’s motion from Gemini cost V.P. Singh his chair later on as he had to region in November 1990 when BJP withdraw support from his party.

Jupiter was in Gemini from 20th of July 1977 to 6th of August 1978. During this period Morarji Desai was the Prime Minister of India leading the first non-congress government at the centre then, but he was having lots of troubles in dealing with difference of opinion in his coalition. Chaudhary Charan Singh had created lots of issues for Morari Desai then and ultimately it led to the fall of Janata Party government in 1979.

Jupiter was in Gemini from 6th of August 1965 to 22nd of August 1966. During this period from 6th to 22nd of September in year 1965 a war break-up between India and Pakistan. This was resulted into a major setback for Pakistan then. In January 1966 both countries signed a peace treaty at Tashkand city in Soviet Union. Indian prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri died on 11th of January at Tashkand in mysterious circumstances reportedly due to a heart attack. Indira Gandhi become prime minister of the country on 19th of January 1966. On the 6th of June 1966 Indira Gandhi devalued Indian rupees by 57%. All this happened during the transit of Jupiter from Gemini sign then.

After Independence of India  Jupiter was in Gemini from 30th of August 1953 to 10th of September 1954. During this period state of Andhra Pradesh was formed on 1st of October 1953. Air India was nationalised in 1953. Government of India setup first backward class commission led by Kaka Kelakar. A five-point agreement (Panchsheel Treaty) was signed with China in April 1954. India’s first nuclear text at Pokharan (Smiling Buddha) was carried out on 18th of May 1954. This was the only period of Jupiter’s transit from Gemini which was good for the central government then.

Why Jupiter in Gemini is tough for Central Government?

During the transit period of Jupiter from Gemini sign since independence of India we have seen tough time for the central government except for the  years 1953-54 when Nehru’s popularity was at its peak. The technical answer to this is hidden in the foundation horoscope of India.

Chart 1. India: Independence August 15, 1947 at 00h. 00m.   at Delhi (77 E 13, 28 N 49) with a balance of 18 Years 0 months 25 days of Saturn Dasha  at birth.

astrological forecast for India 2025

Navamsha foundation chart of India

In the Taurus lagna foundation chart of India (chart 1) Gulika and Mars are in close conjunction in Gemini sign. Mars as the 7th and 12th lord, a Maraka, is placed in the Maraka Bhava in 2nd house with Gulika (4 degrees and 50 minutes of longitude) which is inauspicious. The 2nd house Gemini has only 19 points in Sarvashtaka Varga which is also very low. In the Bhinnashataka Varga Jupiter gets only 3 Bindu’s in Gemini sigh so whenever it transits over the Maraka Mars and malefic Gulika it has to produce bad results for the central government.

Sarvashtaka Varga India

From the Moon the sign Gemini is the 12th house so public opinion also change towards the government when Jupiter transit from this sign. We have seen this during 2013-14 when Congress government become unpopular and also during 2001-02 when BJP at the centre faced distress when Jupiter was passing through the Gemini sign.

Now again when Jupiter will pass through the Gemini sign in transit the ruling government at the centre can come under severe pressure especially around the time of total lunar eclipse of 7th of September this year. Interesting to note here is that as per the Lahiri Ayanamsha the Maha Dasha  of Mars will start on the 9th of September in the foundation horoscope of India (chart 1). This Mars Dasha   period of Maraka will run for full 7 years which will be highly troublesome for the country’s social fabric. Mars as the 7th lord is in the Nakshatra of Rahu in Ardra showing divorce rate going up sharply, foreign investment will increase as it is 12th lord in the 2nd but sex scandals, war like situation, terrorist attacks, communal riots and gun-culture will be on the rise.

Chart 2. Total Lunar Eclipse: September 7th , 2025 at 23h. 38m. at Delhi (77E 13 and 28N 49).

Total Lunar Eclipse 7/8 September 2025

A total lunar eclipse will be visible in India at the night of 7/8 September this year. This eclipse will fall at the 10th house of the foundation horoscope of India (chart 1) in Aquarius sign. It will be in the 8th house of the natal Moon in Cancer in the Independence India horoscope which is dangerous for the stability of the central government. During that time the Maha Dasha  of Mars will also start in the foundation chart of India and the transit Mars will be in its enemy sign in Virgo in mutual aspect with natural malefic Saturn which is retrograde. This situation shows a controversial upheaval in the central government.

An Earthquake foreseen

As per the book ‘Astrology in Predicting Weather and Earthquakes’ by Dr. B.V. Raman page number 66 , the position of major planets Mars, Saturn and Jupiter in mutual Kendra’s and the minor planets the Moon and Mercury in Kendra (angles)  or Kona (trine) and near the 10th or the 4th house at the time of an eclipse can bring a major earthquake. These conditions are fulfilling in the total lunar eclipse horoscope (chart 2) cast for India. Around the time of this total lunar eclipse of 7/8 September or within 15 days of it an earthquake may influence the Northern parts of India, Afghanistan and Eastern parts of Pakistan. As per the Koorma Chakra the Purvabhadra Pada signify the North direction. The total lunar eclipse is falling in Purvabhadra Pada only. Majority of planets in earthy and airy sign is another combination which indicate an earthquake measuring 7 or more at Richter  scale.

Chart 3. Horoscope of Narendra Modi: Born September 17, 1950 at 11h. 00m. at Vadnagar (72E 38’ and 23N 47’) at Gujarat with balance of 11 years 2 months and 11 days of Saturn Dasha  at birth.

Narendra Modi real horoscope

Narendra Modi real horoscope

In the birth chart of Prime Minister Modi (chart 3) the Total Lunar Eclipse of the 7/8 September will fall at the 4th house (Aquarius) from the lagna and the Moon which is inauspicious. The 4th house is the throne or Simhasana of the ruler. The transiting Rahu will be in Aquarius over the ‘Jeeva Karaka’ Jupiter which as per a Bhrigu rule is not good for the health and position of native. The transiting Saturn will be in Pisces at the time of the lunar eclipse at 05 degrees and 19 minutes at about exact degrees of his natal Rahu in the same sign which is again not good as per the Bhrigu rules. The transit Saturn giving aspect to the natal Sun also shows a change in career. The Vimshottari Dasha  of Mars and Bhukti of Mercury will be running from May 2025 to May 2026 also shows sudden retirement or downfall after a controversy. Mars is lagna and the 6th lord (enemies), while Bhukti lord Mercury is a functional malefic for Scorpio lagna chart.

Mercury as the lord of the 8th house is in close degree conjunction with the 10th lord (career) the Sun and also Ketu is showing a sudden downfall. In Navamsha  Mars as the 10th lord is strong in the lagna but it is in mutual aspect with 12th lord Mercury which is not good. The transiting Jupiter in Gemini will be in the 8th house from his lagna and the Moon. The transiting Saturn will aspect the 8th lord Mercury which is in Virgo in birth chart. Thus, the activation of the 8th house lord by Dasha  and Transit both shows a sudden fall or retirement of Prime Minister of Modi in anytime after 6 months of this total lunar eclipse of the 7/8 September 2025.

Chart 4. Full Moon: January 3, 2026,  at 15h. 32m. at Delhi (77E 13’ and 27N 40’)

Full Moon 3 January 2026 India

Another important chart we will study in the context of enigmatic Jupiter’s transit from Gemini is the Full Moon horoscope (chart 4) of 3rd January 2026. At the time of this Full Moon the Taurus ascendant would be rising which is same as the foundation horoscope of India (chart 1). Notice here the influence of all the 7 planets  on the 8th house. The 8th house in mundane astrology indicates scandals, fall of the government, explosive violence, intrigues etc. So, a fall of central government and/or change in its leadership is also indicated by the Full Moon chart of 3rd January 2025. An earthquake of high magnitude may also come within 15 days of this Full Moon as majority of planets including the major planets Jupiter, Saturn and Mars are influencing the 8th house. The Moon and Mercury are also in mutual Kendra (angle) at the time of the Full Moon. This earthquake may come in Uttar Pradesh and/or Nepal signified by the Sagittarius sign.
