In a historic development Droupadi Murmu, the former governor of Jharkhand, was elected as the President of India in the last week of July this year. She took oath of the office of president on the 25th of July at 10:15 am at Delhi when Virgo lagna was rising. She is the second women President of India and country’s first tribal president. She belong to Santhal Tribe which is one of the largest tribal communities settled in Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand and some parts of Bihar and Assam states. Droupadi Murmu was born in Odisha’s Mayubhanj district in a Santhali family on 20 June 1958.
