The stock markets around the world have slumped since the start of year 2016. The slide in the price of crude oil has rattled the investors and raised a serious concern about a slow down in the global economy. I have been writing on this subject in my articles for the Hindi News Paper Amar Ujala’s website for a while now. More recently the Express Star Teller magazine published my article “Global Economic Scenario in 2016” in their January issue.

In that article i had given my astrological analysis about the possible global slowdown after the entry of Rahu in Leo sign on the 9th of January. I have also discuss about the possibility of big wars, earthquake and a financial catastrophe immediately after the solar eclipse of 9 March 2016.

Solar Eclipse

As per the Hindu methods there would be a ‘great depression’ starting in 2016 immediately after the solar eclipse of 9^th of  March. This great depression may last until the end of 2019 and afterwards the trend will reverse as both Saturn and Jupiter will conjoined together  to bring a major change in the world order. The collapse of the capitalist economic system in 2016 may get replace with a socialist  economic modal with India leading from the front as the engine of global economy in 2020. In year 2020 the Saturn-Jupiter conjunction in Capricorn will change the world economic and political system. It will end the phase of economic depression of many countries and Indian model of development would then be the guiding force behind the revival of global economy. At the time of the solar eclipse of 9 March 2016 the Jupiter, which is karaka for finance and economy, is retrograde and under great affliction. Jupiter is conjoined with Rahu and receiving the close aspect from Saturn the karaka of economic depression. The square position of Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Rahu and Ketu is a dangerous combination as per the classics of Medini Jyotish. Adding to the misery the long stay of Mars in Scorpio sign will make sure that there will be lots of financial as well as physical earthquakes in the world between March to August 2016. But the fortnight starting from the 9^th of March will be the most destructive for the financial as well as commodities markets around the world. Billions of dollars of money of investors will be sunk in a single fortnight . The shares of Banking (Jupiter), Steel and heavy industry ( Saturn) , Cotton and Automobile (Venus) , IT sector and Telecommunication (Ketu and Mercury ) will be the worst affected during this economic catastrophe . Balance of Dasha in Vimshottari : Mars 2 years 3 months 11 days

After the ‘Great Recession’ of 2008-09 the economy of USA is now in the mode of excellent recovery  with its GDP growing at the rate of 3.5% and unemployement  has been dropped from 10% then to 5.5% at present which is good. All this are happening during the Vimshottari dasha of  yogakaraka Mars which started on 16^th of October 2011. The US economy has shown considerable improvements since then. See the excellent placement of Mars in the 11^th house of gains where it is  in great Raj yoga and Dhana yoga in the Rashi chart of USA. In Navamsha it is again strongly place in the 11^th house. However, Mars is in mutual aspect with the 6^th lord ( debts) and 7^th lord (war) Saturn which is posing a risk for the  country to face an economic crisis again due to depression of stock markets and losses in war.

The solar eclipse of 9 March 2016 will be right at the natal Moon, which is in Kemadruma yoga at the 7^th house of war, of the USA. The transit of Saturn and Mars from the 4^th house from the ascendant and 10^th from its natal Moon is also very dangerous. The Mars-Mercury period ( from 16 April 2015 to 12 April 2016) is running at present in Vimshottari in the chart of USA which will also give civil unrest to  the country. Mercury is in the 12^th house of losses and its depositor Moon is place in the 7^th house of war. Though the next mahadasha of Rahu (from October 2018 to October 2036) badly placed  in the twelfth house of losses will see the decline of USA as the superpower. The world order will change  again in the 2020 and in the next one decade the USA will not even remain a third carbon copy of what it is right now. The Vimshottair dasha of Rahu starting from 2018 October in the chart of USA will make it a war torn country struggling with civil unrest and intense draughts.

Balance of Dasha in Vimshottari: Moon 9 years 11 months 23 days

In the Capricorn lagan chart of China the lagan lord Saturn is falling in the 8^th house of secracy in an inimical sign. The lagan lord Saturn is heemed between malefic planets Mars and Ketu. It is under the aspect from 3^rd (communication and neighbouring countries) and 12^th ( foreign trade and losses) lord Jupiter. This astrologically explain the nature of  Chinees economy and its political afffairs  that has always been kept under the ‘iron-curtain’  by  its communist regime.The economy of China is export driven manily which will suffer the most due to the fall in international trade during the coming phase of great depression in 2016-2019.

The communist regime of China has been following the policy of capital controls to keep its people’s  money within its borders. Therefore, the Chines middle class had been investing their new wealth in stocks and real estate. Thus the security/shares prices started rising above their value. In China the price/earning ratio  (P/E ratio is the ratio of company’s share price to its per share earning) of stocks has reached at an alarming hight of 220 which is called a ‘bubble like valuation’. In real esate the over production has resulted into ‘ghost cities’ coming up where most of the properties and houses are unoccupied.

The solar eclipse of 9 March 2016 will fall at the 2/8 axis of China’s lagan and Moon which will bring a great economic slowdown in the country. The ‘bubble’ in the stock market and real estate of China will be burst resulting in the loss of billions. The Vimshottari dasha of Saturn-Rahu ( May 2014 to March 2017) is looking very dangerous as China may create border tentions with its neighbouring countries such as India, Japan and Vietnam to divart the attention of its people from the economic crisis. Balance of Dasha: Mars 0 years 7 months 13 days

Japan   is struggling badly to come out of the effects of ‘Great Recession’ of 2008-09. Once Japan was the leading manufacturing hub of the technology goods in the world but it has now been replaced by its neighbor China. The aging population of the country is adding to the problems as there is a lack of   young workforce and government have to spend lots of money on social welfare schemes of elderlies . Today one in four persons in Japan is 65 years or older. The major cause of this demographic change is the low birth rate and higher life expectancy.

The Japan is under Mercury-Rahu ( 09 June 2015 to 26 December 2017) dasha in Vimshottari. Mercury is the debilitated 7^th and  10^th lord which is under affliction from the retrograde Saturn. The anterdasha lord Rahu is in the 3^rd house of neighboring countries and border disputes. In Malaysia the Prime Minister Najib Razak, who is facing the charges of corruption at present, will also have to resign. The unemployment rate will increase tremendously in Brazil ( 7 September 1822 at 16:47 hours at Rio) and in Malaysia ( 31 August 1957at 00:00 hours mid night Kuala Lumpur) also where there will be riots and sectorial violence.

Among the developing nations  India ( 15 August 1947 at 00:00 hours mid night, New Delhi)  is going to be one of the least affected country with this likely phenomena of global depression. Although India will have to suffer some setbacks due to fall in exports and industrial output decline in the year 2016. There will also be a severe draught in 2016 affecting the agriculture output. The scarcity of water will led to a serious crisis in the country. But since India would be under the Vimshottari dasha of strong Moon, which in a very good Gaja-Kesari yoga, so it will soon reinvent an economic model for itself to overcome the effects of global depression.
