The historic victory of Jayalalitha in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu assembly polls in 2016 has changed the connotation of the politics of this southern state. It is the first time since the death of the former Tamil Nadu chief minister M.G. Ramachandran or MGR in 1987 that a party has managed to return to power in the state for consecutive second term. This has made Jayalalitha the most powerful ‘Satrap’ (state leader) in Indian politics at present along with West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee. Both of these female politicians are enjoying great authority and popularity in their respective states.
In the general elections of 2014 Jayalalitha’s party AIADMK had won 37 out of 39 Lok Sabha seats in the Tamil Nadu. The BJP-led Narendra Modi government counts on the support of AIADMK to push legislations through, especially in the upper house or Rajya Sabha where it is in a minority. So the Jayalalitha is wielding political authority at both state and center.
Jayalalitha is leading the AIADMK which was founded by the M.G. Ramachandran in 1972 as a breakaway group of the DMK. The MGR was the most famous superstar of Tamil Nadu cinema then and he is still regarded as the cultural icon of the state. He became the chief minister of Tamil Nadu in 1977 and remained in power , by winning three consecutive assembly polls, until his death in 1987. Since then the state politics of Tamil Nadu has been revolving around Jayalalitha (AIADMK) and Karunanidhi (DMK). Both the leaders ruled the state alternatively but none of them were able to replicate their electoral feat. But now the Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha has managed to return back to the power and got an edge over her political rivals. Jayalalitha took the oath of state chief minister for the 6th time and she is now on her way in fulfilling the poll promises. She started with ordering 500 government run liquor shops to close down as part of phased prohibition. Jayalalitha has also made attractive poll promises such as waiving farmers loans and sanctioning 100 units of power free in all homes and gold ‘mangalsutras’ or Sacred threads worn by married women.
Now let us astrologically analysis this historic change that has come up in the Tamil Nadu politics and the future prospects of Jayalalitha. First I will start with the oath taking chart of Jayalalitha.
Swearing-in-chart J. Jayalalitha
23 May 2016 at 12:05 hours at Chennai.
Titihi : Krishna Dwitiya, Vaar: Monday , Nakshatra : Jyeshtha
Yoga: Siddha , Karana: Taitila
At the time of swearing-in of Jayalalitha the Moon was in Scorpio (Vrischik) and the Nakshara was Jyeshtha. The Jayalalitha has her natal Moon in Leo (Simha). The Janama Nakshatra of Jayalalitha is Magha from where the Nakshatra at the time of oath taking falls in the Atimitra Tara (friendly asterism) which is good.
The Tithi Dwitiya , Yoga and Karana are also good for coronation. If we see the planetary position from the rising sign Leo it shows a good picture. The Jayalalitha will work at very fast pace in the direction of fulfilling her poll promises. The strong Sun at the 10th house along with 10th lord Venus is excellent. The benefic Jupiter in the ascendant is also good for the public image of the ruling party at initial stages. However, the Moon being in its sign of debilitation is a negative factor. The Moon is in the Nakshatra Jyeshtha which is a Teekshna (fierce) Nakshatra and is not favored for coronation purposes as per the classics of Muhurata.
I have observed this in so many oath-taking charts that when Moon comes in bad association and is in unfavorable asterism (Nakshatra) it gives problem to the ruler. Take an example of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal who took the oath when Moon was in conjunction with the malefic planets. Kejriwal become the chief minister of Delhi twice; once on 28 December 2013 for the brief period and later on the 14th of February 2015. On both the occasions the Moon was in the association of hard malefic planets. He is continuing to face a hell lot of trouble in running his government.
Now see in the case of Jayalalitha the Moon in her oath-taking-chart is afflicted in the 4th house of ruler’s throne. The retrograde Mars and Saturn are afflicting the Moon. The 6th and 7th lord Saturn is giving aspect to lagan lord Sun, lagna, 10th house and 10th lord Venus. The affliction to lagna and 10th house in an oath-taking-chart is a clear indication of trouble for the ruling party and its leader. Now let’s see the chart of Jayalalitha for deeper analysis.

Balance of Dasha in Vimshottari : Ketu 3 Years 11 Months 24 days
In the Vrishabha (Taurus) lagna chart of Jayalalitha the Vimshottari dasha of Jupiter-Saturn-Venus from 3 March 2016 to 5 August 2016 has shown very favorable results. The Jupiter is the lord of 8th (surprises) and 11th (gains) houses. The Saturn is Yogakaraka though it is in its inimical sign Karka and is in Sarpa Dreshkaan. The sub-sub period lord Venus is lagan and 6th lord in its sign of exaltation. It has given Jayalalitha a historic victory but since the maha dasha and anter dasha lords are in 6/9 position so some serious troubles are bound to come.
In year 2017 the transiting Saturn will move into Sagittarius which is the 8th house from the ascendant of Jayalalitha. The Vimshottari dasha of Jupiter-Saturn-Rahu 29 January 2017 to 17 June 2017 is looking very difficult for Jayalalitha. The Rahu is in the 12th house of imprisonment. In Jaimini’s Chara dasha the period of Cancer (Karka) will start from 23 February 2017. The Cancer having the Atamakaraka of Jayalalitha shows the period of dangers. The Cancer sign is also 8th from the Karakamsha Aquarius which shows serious health issues for Jayalalitha in coming years. The pending court cases against Jayalalitha may result into an unfavorable judgment from the apex court. She may have to once again resign from the post of chief minister in the first half of 2017.

In the horoscope of Tamil Nadu state the Vimshottari dasha of Jupiter-Saturn is running from April 2016 to October 2018. The Jupiter is in its sign of debilitation and the sub period lord Saturn is in its inimical sign. These two dasha lords are in 6/8 position from each other in both Rashi and Navamsha chart which is not a good thing. Both Jupiter and Saturn are giving aspect to the 8th house which shows the chances of political scandals, strife and instability in the state.
Now let us examine the charts of opposition party DMK’s leaders M.Karunanidhi and his son M.K. Stalin.
Horoscope of M.Karunanidhi

Longitude 79 E 9’ and Latitude 10 N 48’
Balance of Dasha in Vimshottari 5 Years 9 Months 8 Days
The 92 year old nonagenarian DMK leader has Cancer (Karka) lagan chart. He is under an enigmatic Venus-Rahu-Venus dasha from 12 April 2016 to 12 October 2016. The Venus is a functional malefic for Cancer lagan chart. The Rahu is in the 2nd house a Maraka house. Karunanidhi will be under Venus-Rahu period till 10 May 2017. The dasha of Maraka planets and the following transit of ‘Kantaka-Shani’ show danger to his longevity. The transiting Saturn will move into Sagittarius (Dhanu) on the 15th of February. The Sagittarius is the 8th house from his natal Moon in Taurus.
In Chara dasha scheme he is under the Rashi dasha of Makar (Capricorn) from 2 June 2016 to 3 June 2019. The Capricorn having his Atamakaraka Mars shows a period of danger for his longevity. The Capricorn is also under the Jaimini aspect of Ganatikaraka Sun which is not a good sign. The year 2017 would be bad for the health of Karunanidhi and he will be forced to take retirement from active politics due to the critical illness.
Horoscope of M.K. Stalin
1 March 1953 at 23:50 hours at Chennai
Balance of Dasha in Vimshottari: Sun 5 Years 3 Months 20 Days
The horoscope of M.K. Stalin is of Vrischik (Karka) lagan. He was born on the day of Poornima day which is not considered very auspicious. The Moon is in Kemadruma yoga at his 10th house as it has no planet on the either side of it. A Kemadruma Moon makes a person feel lonely and helpless in many situations. The person born in Kemadruma yoga doesn’t get much support from his surrounding peoples at the time of crisis. The Stalin is under a difficult dasha of Saturn-Venus from April 2016 to June 2019. Both Saturn and Venus are functional malefics for Scorpio lagna chart. They are at the bad 6/8 axis in the horoscope. The period of Saturn-Venus or Venus-Saturn usually bring very important changes in life in an enigmatic manner.
In Chara dasha the Staling will get the period of Pisces (Meena) from March 2017 to March 2028. The Pisces has the Jaimini Raja Yoga of Amatayakaraka Mars and Putrakaraka Mercury. This Raja Yoga will give Stalin the leadership of his party DMK after the demise of his great father Karunanidhi. The Stalin is expected to take over the baton of DMK in his hand in year 2017. But since the Pisces is the 8th house from his Atamakaraka Moon so this transition will be a difficult one for Stalin.
