There was a time when Olympic Games for India meant only about Hockey. From 1928 to 1956 India had won 6 Olympic gold medals consecutively in men’s hockey. But in other sports we were starving for medals. In men’s hockey the last Olympic gold was won in 1980 Moscow Olympic were most of the good hockey teams were not competing due to the boycott of games by USA and its allied countries in the protest of USSR (now Russia) invasion of Afghanistan.
Later India could only won a gold medal at 2008 Beijing Olympics in shooting thanks to Abhinav Bindra. In the London Olympic games in 2012 India had won 2 silver and 4 bronze medals. In London India had send the contingent of 83 athletes. This time in 2016 India will be sending 120 athletes at Rio which it its largest ever contingent in the history of these games.
India is hopeful of winning medals in hockey (both men and women), boxing, badminton, tennis, archery and shooting. Astrologically India stands at a very good chance to create a new history at Olympic golds. Since the country is under the dasha of 3rd lord Moon, which is a female planet, so the performance of women athlete’s would be historical this time.
In archery Deepika Kumar promising for gold, in tennis Sania Mirza and in badminton Sania Nehwal is likely to achieve glory. India’s women hockey team is also a good prospect for medal.

The 5th lord Saturn in the 3rd house of Hindu New Year chart indicate a very good year for country’s sport persons. However, since the Saturn is also the lord of 6th house and it is conjoin with Mars which is the 3rd and 8th lord so there are bound to be some very serious controversies for Indian sports person this year. The wrestler Narsingh Yadava has already been disqualified for doping charges just few days before this mega sporting event. There could be some more athletes who would fall pray to the doping and other controversies.
It would be one of the most controversial Olympic games since 1980 Moscow Olympics as per my humble astrological knowledge goes. The Rahu and Jupiter has completed their cycle of 36 years since 1980.They are in Leo (Simha) rashi again this time just like it was in 1980 when Moscow games were boycotted by many countries.
When the Brazil was awarded Olympic Games in 2009 it was a very stable country. But in the last couple of years it is struggling with corruption, unemployment, out-break of zica virus and many other troubles. The president of Brazil Dilma Rousseff is facing impeachment and the nation is harassed by poor governance. There is also threat from terrorist organizations like Islamic State and Al Qaeda due to loose border patrol in Brazil. In the last week of May nearly 150 scientists released an open letter to the head of WHO calling for the games to be moved or postponed due to the threat of zica virus.

I have predicted about it in the January issue of Express Star Teller magazine in my article ‘Global Economic Scenario in 2016’ at page number 76. My predictions about increase in unemployment and troubles for Dilma Rousseff was based on the foundation chart of Brazil ( 7 September 1822 at 16:47 hours at Rio). Now the questions are asked by many can Brazil, a country struggling with recession and political turmoil, be a successful host of Olympic Games? . The Olympic Games are schedule to be held in Brazil from 5 to 21 August this year.
Hindu New Year or Pisces New Moon for Brazil

In the Hindu New Year chart of Brazil the Aries sign is rising with its lord Mars falling in the 8th house along with 10th lord Saturn. The 3rd and 6th lord Mercury is in the ascendant showing a difficult year for the country which is struggling with recession and out-break of dangerous zica virus. The luminaries (Sun and Moon) are in the 12th house with benefic Venus. The aspect of Jupiter on the ascendant is a saving grace. The ascendant house in mundane astrology signifies the mood of the general public and dignity of the nation. The influences of benefic planet on the ascendant shows that Brazil will overcome all the challenges it’s facing to host the Olympic Games. The people of Brazil will warmly welcome the foreign tourist visiting their country to attend this mega sporting event.
However, the malefic aspect of Saturn on the 5th house of public entertainment and the presence of Jupiter-Rahu there shows some unforeseen troubles and gloominess. The conjunction of Saturn and Mars in the 8th house shows a possible terrorist attack affecting this mega event. There could be some suicidal terrorist attack on European athletes planed by ISIS which will create some disturbances at Rio Olympic games.
The aspect of Saturn over Rahu or Ketu is a combination of the spread of epidemics in mundane astrology.
