Predicting earthquakes and natural disasters had always been a dark area in astrology. The classics of Medini Jyotish (Mundane Astrology) like Brihat Samhita, Adhabut Sagar, Bhadra Bahu Samhita, Mayur Chitram etc. have given few hints on this subject. But there is no mention of any clear methodology which one can use to forecast earthquakes with probable dates and locations. As per sage Garga the earthquakes usually comes near New Moon and Full Moon. The occurrences of strong earthquakes have also been observed near solar and lunar eclipses.
The ruling sings of the countries given by Ptolemy, who is considered as father of the Western Astrology, are also considered to locate the probable direction of the earthquake. But this method of locating the direction on the basis of zodiacal signs doesn’t work with good consistency. Instead of this we can use the ancient method of Koorma Chakra given in the ‘Vishnu Purana’ and Brihat Samhita of Varahamihira. The Koorma Chakra can be applied on the geography of a county or on the world map. By placing the transiting planets in their respective Nakshatra’s in Koorma Chakra we can foresee the probable direction where good or bad events might happen.
In this small write-up I am discussing the Koorma Chakra cast for the day of solar eclipse of 1st of September 2016. This annular solar eclipse is likely to be very crucial as it may trigger a strong earthquake, tsunami and/or volcano eruptions at many places in the word. The Saturn-Mars conjunction in Scorpio, at the time of solar eclipse, and the close degrees aspect of Saturn on the luminaries is a deadly combination of natural calamities. I have mention these predictions in an article send to the editor of The Planets & Forecast Magazine which would appear in the September 2016 issue.
Annular Solar Eclipse
1 September 2016 at 14:32 hours at Delhi
See the close degree aspect of Saturn on the Sun and Moon at the time of eclipse. As per Brihat Samhita if the malefic planets aspect or conjoined with luminaries at the time of an eclipse then it brings war and natural calamities. In the horoscope of solar eclipse of 1st September the planetary configuration is such that it will bring lots of earthquakes around the world. The presence of Jupiter, Venus and Mercury in earthy sign is one such combination. The conjunction of Mars and Saturn is Scorpio is specifically bad for North India specially the Delhi-NCR region. There are chances of strong tremors between 23rd of August to 7th of September around many parts of the world. The specific areas could be in the Himalayan region of India and Pakistan signified by Scorpio. The earthquakes are also expected in the countries of south-east direction signified by Koorma Chakra.
In the Koorma Chakra the luminaries (Sun and Moon) and Rahu are in the south-east direction. They are in Purva Phalguni Nakshatra which falls in the south-east direction of this Chakra. The Philippines, Indonesia, China etc. will have the risk of strong earthquake and tsunami during the last week of August or in the month of September.
Also notice three benefic planets Jupiter, Venus and Mercury falling in the south direction in the Koorma Chakra. They give an indication of heavy rains, and landslides in countries of south-America like Peru, Chile or Ecuador. However, it is difficult to locate the exact direction of the occurrence of an earthquake or natural calamities but a general indication can be given by the study of Koorma Chakra.
Apart from an earthquake there will also be menace of heavy rain and a cyclone in the south and south-east direction of India. The states like Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Tamil Nadu will get very heavy rainfall immediately after the annular solar eclipse of 1st of September. The concentration of planets in Virgo sign specifically signifies the south direction.
The late Shri B.V. Raman use to take Virgo as the zodiacal sign of India. If you notice the Nakshatra’s falling in the south direction of the Koorma Chakra you will find that Hasta and Chitra over there which comes in the Virgo sign. Some senior astrologers consider the Capricorn (Makar) as the zodiacal sign of India. This also comes from the Koorma Chakra as the Nakshatra falling in the Capricorn rashi ( Uttarashada, Sravana and Dhanishta) is located in the north-west part of this chakra. This is how Koorma Chakra has been used since centuries by Hindu astrologers for their predictions of Mundane astrology.
