January 5, 2016 By Sachin Malhotra

(Note: This article of mine was appeared in the December 2015 issue of  The Planets and Forecast Magazine )

Sachin Tendulkar is a name which needs no introduction. He was widely regarded as the best batsman in the world during his cricketing career spanning nearly two decades and for his fan all over the world, especially in India, he was like ‘God of Cricket’. The cricket experts rated him one of the best batsman ever played this game. The legends of the game like Sir Donald Bradman , Sir Garry Sobers and Sir Vivian Richards praised his skills and technique with open heart.

In year 2013 on the birth day of Sachin Tendulkar the DNA news paper of Mumbai published an article giving the hospitals records of Sachin Tendulkar.

http://www.dnaindia.com/sport/report-sachin-tendulkar-the-multi-million-dollar-baby-1826338

As per this article “Sachin Tendulkar : the multi-million dollar baby” written by Derek Abraham the “ Dr Shraddhanand Thakur oversaw the birth of a “healthy baby boy” at 1 pm exactly 40 years ago. The retired gynaecologist is 85 now, but he clearly remembers the day he laid his hands on Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar”.

As per the birth certificate of Sachin Tendulkar in circulation on the internet he was born on 24-April-1973. I have rectified his birth time from 13:00 hours to 12:54 hours, making a correction of just 6 minutes,  to get Scorpio Navamsha along with Caner the rising sign in Rashi chart based on his known life events. The place of birth is Mumbai.   Born in the Cancer lagna, which is under the aspect of the ninth lord Jupiter and fifth lord, which is also the tenth lord ,  Mars  the Yogkarka for this ascendant, the chart have great Raj Yoga’s in it.Continue Reading

Jaimini Astrology and Marriage

December 30, 2015 By Sachin Malhotra

The aphorism of Jaimini has given many principals for judging the quality of marriage or relationship in a horoscope, which if applied along with Parashari principals gives very good results. In Jaimini system the following parameters are broadly taken into account in a horoscope to find out the possible happiness or unhappiness from marriage.

  1. Darakaraka: In the chara karaka scheme of Jaimini the Darakaraka is the planet having least degrees in a chart. The Darakaraka, apart from its many other significations, represents spouse, love affairs, relationships and infatuations. The Darakaraka associated with benefic planets gives happiness from marriage but when it is in bad company like under the influences of hard malefic planets and/or in close conjunction with Ganatikaraka then it gives trouble in married life or relationships.

The position of Darakaraka is also analyzed in the Navamsha kundali for deeper understanding.Continue Reading

Forecasting the trends of the winter season 2015-16

November 29, 2015 By Sachin Malhotra

The November rain has exceeded the seasonal rainfall of North-East Monsoon in the southern peninsula of  India. The state of Tamil Nadu in particular had received record rainfall which brought floods in its many cities particularly in Chennai. http://www.skymetweather.com/content/weather-news-and-analysis/tamil-nadu-floods-have-caused-damage-worth-rs-8481-crore/

The North-East monsoon is expected to give some more rain in the coming days as Sun, Mercury and Saturn are conjoined in the watery rashi Scorpio.  Unless Mercury leave the Scorpio sign on the 6th of December there will be no relief from rain in the coastal areas of southern peninsula of the country.

The conjunction of Mars, Rahu and Venus was responsible for the heavy flood in Tamil Nadu which is signified by zodiacal sign Virgo.

Now the winter season is approaching the Northern part of the country.  My article on astro-meteorology ‘Winter Season 2015-16’ is published in the December issue of the Express Star Teller Magazine. The following predictions about the possible trends of winter season was given in that article by me.Continue Reading

Forbidden Marriages in Simhastha Brihaspati: Why such fear?

November 22, 2015 By Sachin Malhotra

(Note: The content in this article has been taken from my published write-up “Solemnizing Marriages need not be Prohibited!” at Express Star Teller October 2015 issue)

Hindu astrology has suffered from lots of superstitions in the last few centuries. One of the main reasons for the spread of wrong beliefs in astrology is the overemphasis being given to the results of some astrological combinations given in the classical texts. The astrological classics written during the era of agrarian society had very exaggerated language which, if interpreted wrongly, can lead to many wrong beliefs or customs. One such astrological belief that comes down to us since thousands of years is about forbidden marriages during the ‘Simhastha Brihaspati’ or ‘ Jupiter in Simha’. As per many Hindu astrologers the year when Jupiter transit from Simha (Leo) rashi is consider inauspicious for marriages at places between Ganga and Godavari.Continue Reading

Watch this fortnight

October 13, 2015 By Sachin Malhotra

Predicting earthquakes has always been the most trickiest area in mundane astrology. Not much research has been done on this subject due to lack of hints given in the classics. Neither Brihat Samhita nor any other classics of Medini Jyotish (mundane astrology) gives you any planetary combination which can be used in predicting earthquakes with confidence. The great Varahamihira has only given some atmospheric symptoms which become visible 7 days before the occurrence of  a major earthquake. In his ‘Bhukampa-Lakshana-Adhayaa’ he has discuss them but there is no hint given about  any conjunction or opposition of planets that may bring an earthquake.

Some scattered hints are given on the subject by various authorities which i have discussed in my articles for the web site of Hindi news papers  Amar Ujala and Rajasthan Patrika recently.Continue Reading

The PDP-BJP Coalition: An odd political marriage in Jammu and Kashmir

September 30, 2015 By Sachin Malhotra

(Note: This article of mine was published in the May issue of Express Star Teller. I had originally written it for the Express Star Teller magazine and the same is being reproduce here)

In a historic development the Bhariyiya Janata Party (BJP) become the part of a government coalition in Muslim-majority state of Jammu and Kashmir for the very first time. The BJP, rooted in Hindu Nationalism, agreed to become a junior partner to the People Democratic Party (PDP), a regional player in Jammu & Kashmir having leaders from separatist background, led by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as the chief minister of the coalition government. This could be the beginning of a new era in the politics of the state, which has a long history of insurgency and unrest. India and Pakistan both control the parts of Jammu & Kashmir, but claim it full. Since 1947, this region has witnessed four wars and has suffered from continuous cross-border terrorism for the last 3 decades. Because of it, development projects have been derailing in the state and there is widespread discontent among the youth due to unemployment.

Nevertheless, the new PDP-BJP government in Jammu & Kashmir has raise new hopes not only for the development of state but also for engaging separatist leaders in the dialogue with central government to help in resolving the Kashmir dispute with Pakistan. Both the parties, having different ideologies, have agreed to run the government on a common minimum program that put emphasis on the understanding of the following disputed matters.Continue Reading

Transit of Saturn and spread of epidemics in modern India

July 18, 2015 By Sachin Malhotra

(Note: This article was written by me early this year for Modern Astrology Magazine. It was published in the May 2015 issue of Modern Astrology. The same has been reproduce from there for the readers of my blog.)

With its tropical climate and unhygienic conditions of living India has always been endemic to many diseases like Malaria, Kala-azar , Cholear , smallpox, tuberculosis, plague etc. These erupt in the form of an epidemic when conditions are favorable for their spread. In Mundane Astrology or Medini Jyotish the shadow planets Rahu and Ketu are considered as the Karaka for epidemics and infectious diseases. The role of Saturn, which is the Dukhakaraka, also becomes important here as it also signifies mass deaths. In Mundane horoscopes, like foundation chart of countries and lunar charts, the 8th house signifies the mass deaths from epidemics apart from many of its significations.

In my practice of this subject in the last couple of years, I have observed that whenever transiting Saturn gives aspect to the natal Rahu or Ketu in the foundation chart of India there is a danger of the spread of an infectious disease or epidemic in the country. At the same time if the Hindu New Year chart for that period concern has an afflicted 8th house then that epidemic may give deaths in large number. Before taking some example let’s study the foundation chart of India first in this context.Continue Reading
