The city of Hong Kong was handover to the People Republic of China by the British on 1 July 1997 at mid night. Since the then the Hong Kong has been under the “One country, two system” constitutional provision formulated by Deng Xiaoping the paramount leader of China. The Deng Xiaoping has formed the “One country, two system” principal for the reunification of Hong Kong and Macau so that they can retain their economic and administrative system even after integration with mainland ‘China’. The Portuguese returned Macau in 1999 to China. The Handover of Hong Kong had taken place on 1 July 1997. But now a fear is growing in the mid of Hong Kong citizen’s that China may not honor the promise given to them.
Demonstration against this bill started in March-April and by June millions of people join these protests in Hong Kong. The students of Hong Kong has formed a pro-democracy party named ‘Demosisto’. The sectary general of this party is 22 year old Joshua Wong who has become the face of these pro-democracy protest in Hong Kong. Joshua Wong was nominated for Nobel Prize in 2017.
