Dr. Farooq Abdullah was born to the  famous leader of Jammu & Kashmir Sheikh Abdullah who was the first chief minister of this state. Farooq Abdullah himself  is the 3 time chief minister of Jammu & Kashmir from 1982-84, 1986-1990 and 1996 to 2002. However, his tenure as Jammu & Kashmir chief minister during 1986-1990 was the most controversial. During late 1989 and early 1990 Hindu’s of Kashmir Valley were targeted by JKLF (Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front) and other Islamist terror groups.
