The stunning victory of BJP in the 5 state assembly polls concluded recently has made Narendra Modi one of the strongest political leader since Indian independence. The BJP had won the UP and Uttarakhand assembly elections with a massive 2/3 majority. In Goa and Manipur they also formed the government despite Congress being the leading party, thanks to the BJP loyal governors  of these states. In Punjab the Congress veteran Captain Amrinder Singh came into the helm of affairs despite tough competition from newbie AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) during the assembly polls. Now after these assembly polls result in March the BJP and its allies are ruling 17 Indian states out of 31. The Congress has its governments in 7 states only and other regional parties are ruling in 7 states. As per the census date of 2011 more than 60% of Indian population now lives in the states ruled the BJP alone or in partnership.

Now the Hindu New Year horoscope for 2017 shows some interesting prospects for the central government. The rising sign Aries is ruled by Mars  which is also the kind of the year. The central government led by the BJP is going to be very tough and  arrogant in many policy decisions as the Mars in the ascendant of the Hindu New Year horoscope indicates. The Narendra Modi led NDA government is going to come hard at the corrupts and illegal practices. The striking feature of this Hindu New Year 2017 horoscope is the absence of any benefic planet in Kendra and Trikona houses. In the horoscope of Hindu New Year or Chaitra Shukla Pratipada the Aries (Mesha) sign is rising  which is the 12^th house of the foundation chart of the country. It shows  that foreign affairs will take the prominent importance in government policies during year 2017-18. The luminaries (Sun and Moon) in the 12^th house along with 7^th lord (foreign trade and treaties) Venus receiving the aspect of 12^th lord Jupiter confirm it amply.

So the King of the year becomes Mars.

The minister of the day will be the lord of the day at the time when Sun enters into the Aries (Mesha). The Sun enters into Aries on the 14^th of April 2017 at 02 hours and 04 minutes (at Delhi). At the time of Hindu system a day is consider from one Sun rise to the next Sun rise. So the day lord of the 13^th of April will be considered in this matter to decide the minister of the year. The Hindu weekday was Thursday so the minister of the year will be is its lord Jupiter. As per the classical text Varsha Prabodha and Bhavishya Phala Bhaskara when benefic planets like Mercury and Jupiter become the king and minister of the year respectively then during that year people will remain happy due to good rainfall and harvest.

Economic Reforms and Tax reliefs: The financial year 2017-18 will be remembered for some tax exemptions to the common man, lower interest rates on loans and tax reforms helping ease of doing business. The 2^nd lord (finance and banking) Venus exalted in the 12^th house of Hindu New Year chart promises tax reforms and lowering of bank interest rates at a drastic level. Foreign Direct Investment : There will be increase in the FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) in the country due to recession in the USA and Europe in the second half of 2017. The appointment of judges in higher courts, Hindu code bill, Muslim personal law on divorce, Judicial reforms, Aaadhar Card dispute, Ayodhya Ram Temple issue  etc. will become the matter of disputes between the Supreme Court and the government of India. The government may bring a new bill on the accountability of judges and their appointment which will be challenged in the Supreme Court of India.

In Navamsha of Hindu New year chart the 9^th house and its lord are receiving the influence of Saturn showing possibility of lots of bitterness between the apex court and the central government during the second half of 2017 in particular. The Vimshottari dasha of  Moon-Rahu-Jupiter and Moon-Rahu-Saturn also confirm the tussle between the Supreme Court and central government during the second half of year 2017.

Border clashes and skirmishes : The 3^rd and 6^th lord Mercury in the ascendant with lagan and 8^th lord Mars shows serious border clashes with neighboring countries. The period from May to September in year 2017 will witness a war like situation between India and Pakistan. The Vimshottari dasha of Moon-Rahu-Jupiter and the Moon-Rahu-Saturn in operation in the foundation chart during the time indicate lots of casualties in the border clashes.

India will also have to deal with Chinese aggression during this period at its border areas of Laddhak and Arunachal Pradesh.

Balance of Dasha in Vimshottari: 10 Years 2 Months and 2 Days

In the Vrischik (Scorpio) lagan chart of Narendra Modi the Moon-Mercury dasha ( 19 September 2016 to 18 February 2018)  is running in Vimshottari. The Moon being the 9^th lord is strongly placed in the ascendant along with lagna lord Mars. The Mercury as the 8^th and 11^th lord is conjoined with Sun in Rahu-Ketu axis. This dasha shows the elevation in his status and public image in a surprise manner. The 8^th house is the house of surprises. The surprise manner in which he conducted the surgical strike on POK and later did the demonetization of currency in the last quarter of 2016 is astrologically explainable from the conjunction of 8^th lord Mercury with the 10^th lord Sun in his Rashi chart.

It will not be a surprise if Narendra Modi get some big international prize for his work in the Jan Dhan Yogana and for his crusade against corruption in the country. However, everything will not be honky-dory for our prime minister as he is under dasha of Moon-Ketu in Vimshottari from 18 February 2018 to 19 September 2018.
