The month of March was one of the hottest and driest in recent years for India. Normally March is the beginning of the summer season in India in the central and southern states along with Odisha and Gujarat. The temperature peak in these areas around April-May months. In the northern states the heatwaves comes during May and June months which are the hottest. But this year there was almost no rain in the month of March and some spells of heatwaves were felt in the North and Western parts of India which surprised many meteorologist.
