Transit of Sun hold a special importance in forecasting seasonal trends as per the astro-meteorological texts. Sun’s entry into Aries around 14th of April brings heat waves across the central, western and northern parts of the country. The position of other planets with respect to Sun set the tone of seasonal trends. The transit of Mars have special significance in this matter as when it comes in square with major planets Jupiter, Saturn and Rahu then it create weather disturbances and may also bring an earthquake. During this summer season in 2017 the Mars will be transiting ahead of Sun till the end of June. Later in July the Sun and Mars will be in conjunction which is also a combination of dryness.

Mars in Aries and an early onset of summer season in 2017

This year the transit of Mars from the fiery sign Aries in the month of March may onset an early summer season on most part of the country including the north-west region. Later the Mars transiting from Rohini Nakshatra in square of Rahu and Ketu may bring an earthquake in the last week of April or early May. Mars will then move into Gemini sign on the 26^th of May from where it will be square with Jupiter in Virgo and Saturn in Sagittarius. This planetary configuration in the month of June indicates record breaking temperature and some delay in the onset of south-west monsoon rains in the central and northern parts of country. Mars in Ardra Nakshatra and Scarcity of Water in 2017

The Ardra Nakshatra holds a special importance in the astro-meteorological texts. As per Bhavishya Phala Bhaskara the   Ardra Nakshatra is a watery asterism and if the malefic planets like Mars, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu afflict it during the summer season then it will bring scarcity of water and extreme heat conditions. This year Mars will be transiting from Ardra Nakshatra from 5 June to 27 June. Mars will be in square with Jupiter during this period which is a combination of obstructing the rainfall. In the month of June the south-west monsoon generally bring good rainfall in the southern and central parts of India. However, this year the month of June is likely to be very hot. There will be scarcity of water in the northern states in particular due to the lack of proper pre-monsoon rains.
