In Brihat Samhita the Acharya Varahamihira has given lots of importance to the atmospheric observations and study of seasonal symptoms for forecasting rains and meteorological disturbances. The Bhadrabhau Samhita and Adbhuat Sagar, other two major text of Medini Jyotish, has also discussed the same set of rules for forecasting rains. However, in practical experience it has been find out that study of impregnations of clouds, the directions of winds, lightening and other omens for forecasting rains is only applicable to that particular area or meteorological sub-division where it has been observed. Whereas the planetary combinations for forecasting rain given in the smaller classical books of Mundane Astrology such as Bhavishya Phala Bhaskara, Varsha Prabodha and Mayur Chitram are more easy in their application and can be used for predicting weather of any country, or even world at large, after understanding its specific climatology.
In this write -up I am only taking the concerned lunar charts and Ardra Pravesh horoscope for forecasting the south-west monsoon for the season 2015 and will scrutinized these horoscopes with the help of astro-meteorological principals available with us from the above mention texts.
Sun’s entry into Ardra Nakshatra
22 June 2015, 16:45 hours, Delhi.
In the Ardra Pravesh chart the watery rashi Scorpio and a watery navamsha Cancer is rising. The aspect of watery planets Mercury and Jupiter on the ascendant shows that there will be pleanty of rain during the monsoon season. However, at some places the monsoon clouds will not be able to reach at their normal expected due dates which is indicated by the presence of a retrograde Saturn in the ascendant. The lord of lagan is Mars which is in the eighth house with another malefic Sun showing destruction of lives and properties due to heavy rain and a cyclone at some places. Moon is Vargottama in Leo rashi which is a dry sign however since Moon is in Jal Nadi so there will not be scanty rain in much of the meteorological sub-division in India.
New Moon chart of 18 May 2015, 09:43 hours Delhi.
In the New Moon chart of 18 May 2015 the watery rashi Cancer is rising in both rashi and navamsha with a watery planet Jupiter influencing it. This is a surest indication of timely onset of the south-west monsoon clouds in Kerala. The normal expected date of reaching the south-west monsoon in Kerala coast is 1 June. The low-pressure system will build very strongly in the Lakshadeep region during this fortnight and monsoon cloud will strike the Kerala coast with thundershowers on June 1, 2015 (Monday) when Moon will be in Scorpio a watery rashi.
In the fortnight starting from 02 June 2015, at 21:48 hours, Delhi the Moon is in watery rashi but in Navamsha it has gone into a fiery rashi. The Mars will leave Rohini in the first week of June 2015, which will be good for the progress of south-west monsoon in India. The Venus will conjoin Jupiter in Cancer sign during this fortnight, which will further accelerate the progress of monsoon clouds. The south-west monsoon will reach Konkan & Goa region before its due date i.e. 10th of June. The conjunctions of benefic planets in transit have been praise in the texts of astro-meteorology.
“If Venus and Mercury are in one rashi or Jupiter and Mercury or Venus and Jupiter are transiting in one rashi then there will be rain without any doubt.”
{ Mayur Chitram page number 100, Published by Parimal Publications}
Therefore, as per this classical maxim the conjunction of benefic planets in a rashi in transit gives rain according to the season. The conjunction of Venus and Jupiter in the fortnight starting from 02 June 2015 will bring monsoon rain in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana , Konkan & Goa and parts of Karnataka and Chattishgarh.
However, the fortnight starting from 16 June will slow down the pace of monsoon express a bit, as the transiting Sun will get hemmed in between Mercury and Venus then.
New Moon 16 June 2015, 19:35 hours, Delhi
” When Sun transit in between Mercury and Venus then it obstruct rainfall. However, when it come closer to Mercury and Venus then it gives lots of rain.”
{ Mayur Chitram , Page number 100, Publish by Parimal Publication}
So the transiting Sun from Gemini rashi will get sandwitched between Mercury in Taurus and Venus in Cancer during the fortnight starting from 16 June. Thus there will be some hinderance in the progress of south-west monsoon in this fortnight. The monsoon clouds will cover the Northeastern states, Madhya Pradesh and Chattishgarh on time, as Jupiter is in Cancer signifying rain at these places, but monsoon express might reach late in Bihar, some parts of West-Bengal and Jharkhand (Note: Bihar and Jharkhand are signified by Taurus and West-Bengal by Gemini) .
The luminaries are in the airy sign Gemini and in airy navamsha Libra. During this fortnight there will be lots of dust storms in northern states specially in Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Western Utterpradesh. However, the opposition of Mercury and Saturn will keep the area of rising temperature very limited. There will less than normal temperature for the season due to close conjunction of Jupiter and Venus in a watery rashi during the second fortnight of June. In the coastal areas of southern-peninsula there will be sharp and wiping winds with lightening and thunder-showers during this period.
Also notice there that Jupiter is transiting from the second house of Sun in Atichri or Sheegragami (fast moving) motion. Saturn is in retrograde motion. Now see this classical maxim in this regard.
“When Jupiter is in fast-moving motion and Saturn is in retrograde motion then one will not find the water which holds the earth.” { Bhavishya Phala Bhaskar , Page number 28, Publish by Shri Venketeshwara Press Mumbai}
As per this Sanskrit stanza the Jupiter in fastmoving motion and Saturn in retrograde motion gives scarcity of water on earth in water bodies. So the water level in the river Ganga, Yamuna and Bramhaputra will be below normal during this fortnight affecting the farmers of northern and eastern part of the country at the bank of these rivers.
However, the fortnight starting from 2 July 2015, at 07:49 hours Delhi (Full Moon) will bring some relief in these areas as Mars will then move into the Neera Nadi and watery Navamsha. Both Jupiter and Venus will also be in a watery navamsha giving rain in Northern states like Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Western Uttarpradesh. By the end of this fortnight the south-west monsoon would have cover the whole country. The state of Jammu & Kashmir , signify by Libra sign, will also get rain during this fortnight.
The transiting Jupiter will move into Leo on 14 July 2015 and get conjoined with Venus there. This will initiate a heavy spell of rains in the state of Gujarat which is signify by Leo sign. The New Moon chart of 16 July 2015, at 06:54 hours, Delhi shows a prominent combination of good rain with wiping wind-storms.The luminaries in the airy sign and airy navamsha of Gemini will give rain and local wind-storms in the state of West-Bengal signify by Gemini rashi.
” When Jupiter transit from Leo (Simha) rashi then it gives palnety of rain and good harvest for sure.” { Bhavishya Phala Bhaskara , Page number 64}
In full Moon chart of 31 July 2015 , at 16:12 hours , Delhi the Venus will be transiting ahead of Sun in retrograde motion in Leo rashi. Mars will also move into Cancer, a full watery rashi, which will then bring lots of rain all of a sudden surprising meteorologist. In the fortnight chart of 31 July Moon is in earthy and watery rashi Capricorn (Makar) and earthy navamsha Taurus indicating landslides due to heavy rain in the Himalayan region of north in particulary. The heavy rain and landslides in Himachal Pradesh signify by Makar rashi and Shravana Nakshatra will cost some lives and destruction of properties during the start of this fortnight. The water level in river Yamuna, Ganga, Satluz, Gandak and Bramhaputra will start rising considerably due to heavy rains. There will be flood in southern Gujarat particularly in Surat and Ahmedabad.
Now see this New Moon chart of 14 August 2015, at 20:23 hours, Delhi.
In this fortnight chart of 14 August 2015 the luminaries are in the watery rashi Cancer along with Mars and Venus. In Navamsha they are again in the watery rashi Pisces along with Venus (a watery planet) and Rahu. Mars and Mercury ( another watery planet) are giving aspect to them in Navamsha. This is a deadly combination for destructive flood in rivers affecting large masses and cattle’s. The chances of a cyclone can’t be ruled out immediately at the onset of this fortnight particularly in the bay of Bengal influencing the coastal areas of the state of West Bengal and Orisha .
The amount of rain during this month will bring a destructive flood in many parts of the country making it the headline of national news papers.The Ganga, Bramhaputra, Yamuna and their supporting rivers will bring havoc for peoples living at their banks. There will be flood in Delhi-NCR region, Uttarpradesh, Assam,Bihar, parts of West Bengal and Orisha. The conjunction of Mercury with Jupiter in Leo rashi will bring heavy rainfall in the state of Gujarat. The above normal rainfall in the month of August 2015 will surprise the Indian Meteorological Department as they might fail to anticipate it beforehand.
In the fortnight starting from 30 August 2015, 00:45 hours , Delhi the transiting Sun will again come in between Venus and Mercury thus giving some relief from heavy rainfall in the previous month of August. In the month of September the rainfall will be normal for the season in most part of the country. The Jupiter getting combusted will ensure that situation of flood in North-Eastern state and also in Gujarat will come under control in September month. However in Delhi-Haryana region there will be some unseasonal erratic rainfall in the month of September as Mars, the lord of Scorpio signifying this region, will be transiting through Cancer rashi. The combianion of Venus and Mars in Cancer will give lots of rain in Chattishgarh,Southern parts of Madhya Pradesh and Orisha in the month of September.
In the fortnight starting from 13 September 2015 , 12:11 hours, Delhi the Sun will remain sandwitzed between transiting Mercury and Venus. However, the luminaries coming into watery navamsha is indicating some rain by the retreating south-west monsoon. The overall rainfall in the second half of south-west monsoon season, in the month of August and September, will be above normal in most of the meteorological subdivisions of the country.In the first half of the south-west monsoon season, in June and July, there will be normal rainfall. The month of August 2015 in particular will be the most destructive in- terms of losses of lives and properties due to floods and a wind-storm.
