Jupiter enters into Scorpio and forecasting North-East Monsoon

October 12, 2018 By Sachin Malhotra

Jupiter has entered into Scorpio sign where it will be in ‘fast moving’ motion from 20th of October 2018 to 5th of January 2019. The entry of Jupiter in watery sign Scorpio on the 11th of October has bring a cyclone named ‘Titli’ leaving 8 dead in Andhra Pradesh and 1 in Orissa after a torrential sell of wind storm  and rains. I had forecast about a possible development of a ‘low-pressure system’ in the Bay of Bengal in my article ‘Northeast Monsoon in 2018’ published in the October issue of Express Star Teller magazine which is at news stands at present.

On the page number 45 of the October issue of Express Star Teller i had forecast unseasoned rainfall rainfall in the following words in my write-up ” The Jupiter entering into the watery sign Scorpio on the 11th of October may bring an early rainfall in the southern-peninsular. The transit of Mars in Capricorn a watery sign also suggest that while the south-west monsoon will stay longer giving rains in the first fortnight of October in places like Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and Chhattisgarh the system created due to it will help to create an early north-east monsoon rains activity in the southern-states also. This meteorological disturbance will bring unseasonal rains around the New Moon of 9th of October and also at the time of Jupiter’s entry into Scorpio on the 11th of the same month.”

Now this year in 2018 the planetary conditions are suggesting an early onset of north-east monsoon with an erratic spells of heavy rains in the month of October. Now see this New Moon horoscope given below.

New Moon horoscope

9 September 2018, 09:17 hours at Delhi

forecasting North-East Monsoon 2018

At the time of New Moon on the 9th of October the Jupiter, Venus and Mercury will be in conjunction on the Libra ahead of Sun which as per classical text “Bhavishya Phala Bhaskara” is a yoga for unseasonal rainfall and torrential winds. This condition will create a low-pressure system in the Bey of Bengal which will bring rainfall in the coastal areas of southern-states.

In astro-meteorology the planets Jupiter, Venus, Mercury and Moon are watery and rain giving planets. Sun, Ketu, Mars and Saturn are dry planets.

The horoscope of New Moon on the 9th of October clearly suggest unusually heavy rainfall activity. The interior districts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu will receive excess rainfall during the fortnight starting from the 9th of October. After the entry of Jupiter into watery sign Scorpio on the 11th of October the rainfall activity will increase. Mars in watery Rashi Capricorn shows a danger of cyclonic storm giving heavy rainfall during the second fortnight of October  in the southern-peninsular of India. In the month of October there will be excess rainfall activity in whole of the country specially in south-Indian states, Bihar and Chattishgarh.

‘Atichari or fast moving transit of Jupiter in Scorpio during 2018’

In mundane astrology various rotation speeds of planets in their transit are studied for forecasting weather and other important events. The rotational speed of plant in their orbit depend upon their distance from the Sun. When outer planets (Mars, Jupiter and Saturn) are away from Sun then they become retrograde. But when these planets come closer to the Sun then they motion become fast which is called ‘Atichari’ movement. Jupiter transiting from Scorpio this year will come closer to Sun. Because of the gravitational force of Sun the speed of these planets in their orbit increase which in mundane astrology is know as ‘Atichari’ or fast moving speed. Jupiter will be in fast moving motion from 20th of October 2018 to 5th of January 2019.

The fast moving Jupiter in Scorpio a watery sign is expected to bring lots of hail-storms, unseasoned rainfall, wind storms, and an early onset of winter season. There will be lots of damage to crops in the month of October and November due to torrential wind storms and hail-storms. The state of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashatra will witness heavy hails storms in October second fortnight and the first fortnight of November month. This will damage lots of major summer crops of the farmers special of wheat and cotton.

Long stay of Venus in Libra sign during 2018

Venus generally remain in a sign for 33 days sometimes stays longer after getting retrograde. This year it will become retrograde in Libra and stay in this sign for about 4 months. Venus will be in Libra from 1st of September 2018 to 31st December 2018. Venus become retrograde on the 5th of October and here it will go direct on the 9th of November only. As per the ‘Shukra-Chaar’ Adhayaa of Bhriat Samhita of Varahamihira when the Jupiter transit from the 2nd house of Venus then it will bring damage to crops due to unseasoned rainfall and hail-storms. The Jupiter in the 2nd house from Venus in transit also bring viral fever and throat related infections at extreme level giving suffering to the masses. This year Jupiter will be transiting from the 2nd house of Venus giving these above mention conditions at higher level. The unseasonal rainfall in the second fortnight of October and in the first week of November will also bring an early onset of winter season.

Danger of flood and heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu in 2018

The city of Chennai may again face the problem of flood due to excess rainfall in the last week of October and first week of November when Mercury will be in conjunction with Jupiter in the watery sign Scorpio.

Full Moon horoscope

24 October 2018 , 22:15 hours at Delhi

Forecasting North-East Monsoon 2018

In the Full Moon horoscope the Jupiter is in watery sign Scorpio and in watery Navamsha Cancer which is an indicator of heavy rainfall. On the 26th of October the Mercury will also join Jupiter in the Scorpio which will bring excess rainfall activity in the north-east monsoon season. The city of Chennai and its surrounding will recessive excessive rainfall which may bring flood in the last week of October and first week of November.

The Kerala, Southern Karnataka, Rayeelseema and Coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh will also get good rainfall after the 26th of October for about next 10 days.

On the 6th of November Mars moving into an airy sign Aquarius will bring strong wind storms in the coastal areas of southern-states. There would also be good rainfall in western parts of India due to a meteorological disturbances then. The state of Gujarat and Maharashtra will  get rainfall activity in the 2nd week of November due to Mars’s entry into the Aquarius sign which signifies western parts of the country.

Sun in Scorpio and Mercury retrograde bring more rain

The Sun moving into the watery sign Scorpio on the 16th of November  and Mercury becoming retrograde on the next day will bring more rainfall the southern-peninsula. The coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu will get access rainfall during the second fortnight of November.

The long stay of Mercury in the watery sign Scorpio along with Jupiter will ensure above average rainfall activity in the north-east monsoon season even in the month of December.

Sun’s entry into Sagittarius

16 December 2018 , 09:10 hours at Delhi

Forecasting North East Monsoon 2018

At the time of Sun’s entry into the Sagittarius the Jupiter and Mercury will be behind the Sun in a watery sign Scorpio which is a good yoga for rainfall. The Sun-Saturn conjunction though in Sagittarius a fiery sign which keep the rainfall average only. But one’s the Mars move into the watery sign Pisces on the 24th of December a spell of excess rainfall will again start. Mars’s entry into the watery sign Pisces will bring good rainfall activity in the southern-peninsula particularly in the  state of Andhra Pradesh during the last week of December and first week of January. So during the season of north-east monsoon in 2018 there will be excess rainfall with an early onset and a delay retreat of clouds. This year the north-east monsoon season will be long and full of heavy rainfall which will creates disturbances in many pats of Tamil Nadu specially  in Chennai.

Mars ingress over eclipse point and four historic judgements of Supreme Court

September 29, 2018 By Sachin Malhotra

The month of September 2018 will be remember for the historic judgements of the Supreme Court of India. It is a matter of a great case study for astrologers practicing ‘mundane astrology’. The lunar eclipse of 27/28 July 2018 had fallen on the Capricorn (Makar) sign over the 9th house of the Taurus lagna foundation horoscope of India. The 9th house in mundane astrology (Medini Jyotish) signify the Supreme Court and major laws passed by the parliament. In the month of September the apex court delivered landmark judgements like the one on ‘Section 377- declaring gay sex not a crime….’ , ‘ striking down Section 497- making adultery no longer a crime’ , ‘Aaadhaar Verdict’ and a big decision on Ayodhya case by ‘refusing to review the 1994 Judgement that said ‘Mosque is not integral to Islam’. These four historic judgements and the last years ‘right to privacy judgement’ will have far reaching implications which will bring major socio-religious changes in the Indian society in years to come.

In the second half of  year 2015 one of my article ‘Moon dasha in the horoscope of India’ was published by the Express Start Teller magazine  in which i had predicted that the maha dasha of 3rd lord Moon will bring major social and economic changes in the Indian society making it more liberal. I had also foretasted about the possible outbreak of ‘private you tube channels’ in India during the dasha of 3rd lord Moon in its own sign Cancer. In the last few years thousands of Indian’s have started making their ‘you tube channels’ to earn money through ‘Google ad-sense’. Millions of people in India have now get cheap access to the internet thanks to the Reliance’s JIO entering into the market in the year 2016 making it highly competitive and consumer friendly.

Now see the foundation horoscope of India given below to understand astrologically how India is undergoing a historic social transform which will soon make it one of the most liberal society in Asia.

Astrological predictions for Ayodhya Ram Temple Case

In the Taurus (Vrishabha) lagna foundation horoscope of India the maha dasha of 3rd lord Moon is running from September 2015 to September 2025. Moon is in own house with cluster of planets. Moon as the 3rd lord giving aspect to the 9th house shows major social development in favor of women’s. Moon it-self is the significant of women, love, emotions, social ethics, media etc. There is no wonder that apex court had recently decided to give a judgement in favor of women in ‘Sabrimala temple case’ . The Supreme court has struck down a tradition of Sabrimala temple in Kerala  that disallow the girls and women between the age group of 10 to 50 years from entering the temple.  Notice here that this decision has came after 26th of September when the transiting Mars cross the degrees of eclipse of 27/28 July which had fallen in Capricorn (Makar rashi) the 9th house of religion in the foundation horoscope of India. The transiting Saturn from Sagittarius is giving its 7th aspect to the natal 7th lord Mars placed in Gemini in the foundation horoscope of India. The Jupiter transiting from Libra aspect the natal Mars of India with its 9th aspect thus completing the double transit phenomena on  the 7th lord of the foundation horoscope of India.

The transiting Jupiter from Scorpio will be in the 7th house of the foundation horoscope of India and from Sagittarius it will be giving aspect to the natal 7th lord Mars in Gemini. Saturn is in Sagittarius till March 2020 so the period till then will bring more judicial interventions into the laws related with marriage and sex. The double transit phenomena of Saturn and Jupiter on the natal 7th lord of the foundation horoscope of India will bring crucial judgements in cases related with ‘Nikaha Halala’ , ‘LGBT marriages’ , ‘Immoral Trafficking Act 1956’ , ‘ Marital Rape under section 375’ etc.

Eclipse effects in Mundane astrology

The lunar eclipse of 27/28 July 2018 had fallen in the Capricorn sign when Sun and Moon were at 11 degrees in opposition on the day of Full Moon. The Sun was in Cancer and Moon was in Capricorn. As soon as the Mars crossed the degrees of eclipse on the 26th of September we had four major decision by the Supreme court which is historical. It is a cardinal principal of mundane astrology that the effects of an eclipse are felt at the maximum when a planet cross over at the degrees of Sun and/or Moon. In simple words we had to note the degrees of Sun and Moon at the time of an eclipse (solar or lunar). Whenever a planet traverse over that degrees major events take place. If a malefic cross the eclipse degrees or eclipse point then events are dramatic and enigmatic in nature. If benefic planets like Jupiter, Mercury and Venus transit over the eclipse point then it give peace and happiness to the people and promote harmony in the society. The results of the eclipses are felt till 3 months so this transit of planets had to be observed within the period of 90 days from that eclipse in question.

Future of Ayodhya Ram Temple- Babri Masjid  case

Apart from the Sabrimala case the apex court has also given a historic judgement in another religious matter by deciding not to refer the 1994 judgement in Ismail  Faruqui  case to the larger constitutional bench. The apex court remarks ” Mosque is not essential to Islam” and for them Ayodhya matter is a title dispute like any other civil case. The next date for Ayodhya hearing is on 29th of October by then the Justice Ranjan Gogoi will take the oath of the new chief justice of India. Justice Ranjan Gogoi then would have time till November 2019, before he retires, to hear and deliver a judgement in Ayodhya matter. But most likely the Ayodhya Ram Temple dispute will be able to resolve in year 2020 only when the transiting Saturn and Jupiter will reach at the 9th house of the foundation horoscope of India with Vimshottari dasha of Moon-Saturn running.

Supreme decision in ‘gay sex and adultery case’

Earlier supreme court had also declared section 377 null and void making gay sex decriminalized. The apex court strike down the IPC (Indian Penal Code) section 377 which was a British era law of 1861 making gay sex a criminal offense. This major decision giving relief to the LGBT community came in the first week of September 2018. Later in the last week of September 2018 the apex court also scraped  the section 497, a 150 year old law, keeping adultery a ground for divorce as earlier  but not a criminal offense. Chief Justice Dipak Misra remarked in this judgement that ” Two individuals may part if one cheats, but to attach criminality to infidelity is going too far. Besides, there is no data to back claims that abolition of adultery as a crime would result in “chaos in sexual morality” or an increase of divorce. How married couples deal with adultery is “absolutely a matter of privacy at its pinnacle”, the Chief Justice wrote”.

See the Hindu New Year 2018 horoscope given below to understand this historic judgement and its possible implications affecting the Indian society in future.

Hindu New Year 2018 and forecast for India

Notice the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus in the 7th house of the Hindu New Year horoscope for 2018. Venus as the 9th lord here shows the landmark judgement changing the laws related to sex and marriage. The abolishment of ‘gay sex’ and ‘adultery’ as crime are welcome decision by the apex court. Very soon court may also have to face the question about the status of illegitimate child or child born out of wedlock in some public interest litigation. The court will also have to take a decision in ‘ Nikah Halala practice’ case which is in hearing in front of them. It is highly likely that supreme court may declare the practice of ‘Nikah Halala’ as illegal any time before March 2019 as per this Hindu New Year horoscope.

Can Marital Rape be declared a criminal offense ?

In August 2017 the Supreme Court in a judgement said that ” forced marital intercourse and sexual act can not be consider as criminal act under section 375 of Indian penal code which which defines the offense of rape, has an exception clause that says the intercourse or sexual act by a man with his wife, not below 15 years, is not a rape “. But now recently in its judgement on ‘Adultery case’ scraping section 497 the Supreme court has made a remark that a ‘husband is not a master of wife‘ and about the ‘sexual preferences of women after marriage’ the apex court has paved the way for the future review the demand for considering making  ‘ marital rape’ a criminal offence under the section 375 of Indian penal code. In the coming years the Supreme Court may clear the way for wives to complain against their husband’s for marital rape under certain conditions. Marital rape can be declared a criminal offense in some very specific conditions.  If this kind of judgement came from the apex court, which is highly likely in next few years, then it will seriously affect the social fabric of our society and divorce rate is certainly going to be shoot-up fast.

The law related with prostitution which comes under section 1956 Immoral Trafficking Act will also be amended which currently are against the sex workers making them pron for exploitation by police. Currently in India prostitution is not illegal but propagating and developing this profession is restricted by law thus an individual practicing it can not solicit clients in public and brothels can not be maintain legally. This situation will change drastically any time before March 2020 due to the double transit phenomena over 7th lord Mars in the foundation horoscope of India. There will be some major changes in the Immoral Trafficking Act to protect the rights of prostitutes and to save them from harassment by police.

Sexual revolution of Indian society coming in its Mars maha dasha

The judgement of supreme court in adultery case will have its psychological impact on the educated public who will now start coming out of the guilt feeling in the matters of ‘extra-marital relationships’ As an astrologer i have personally seen lots of such cases and as per my humble opinion in the next few year the divorce rate will go very high in India due to a  ‘sexual revolution’ in society specially among the women’s. The Indian women were subject to suppression since centuries specially after the Muslim invasion of India. Now in the Independent India the Venus dasha ( 1989 to 2009) earlier and now the Moon maha dasha ( 2015 to 2025) is going to give them the freedom they deserve. People with ‘patriarchal mind set’ will regret this but they will not able to stop this revolution which is an astrological inevitability. By the time the maha dasha of Mars will come in September 2025 India would prepare itself for a bigger social revolution changing the fabric of its society dynamically making it very liberal for its women giving them more choice in the matters of ‘sexuality’.

Mars as the 7th lord in the foundation horoscope of India is in sign Gemini (signifying sexual union between man and women) under the aspect of 11th lord Jupiter from the 6th house shows tremendous liberalization in the matter related with marriage and sex in the Indian society.  The dasha of Mars will be from September 2025 to September 2032 which will bring a collapse of the ‘institution of marriage’ in the major cities in India. The divorce rate will then increase very sharply and more number of people will give preference to the ‘live-in-relations’ than marriage in Indian urban society. Sex will be discuss openly in society, media and literature. It will not remain a taboo as it has become off-late since the invasions of Muslim’s and later during  the ‘Bhakti-Kaal’ ( era of devotional literature) in the  14th to 16th Century.

Aaadhaar Judgement and its socio-economic effects

The five judges bench of supreme court delivered much awaited verdict on the constitutional validity of Aaadhaar the bio-metric linked unique identity project. The supreme court in 4-1 majority upheld the validity of Aaadhaar act with some restrictions. The judges struck down Section 33(2), which allowed disclosure of Aadhaar data based on an order of a Joint Secretary . Equally importantly, the court also decided to reduce the time period for storing authorisation/transaction  of data and put limitations on use of meta-data, thus reducing the scope for profiling of individuals. The apex court also said that Aaadhaar need not to be linked compulsorily by the banks and mobile operators. But the court has not commented on the status of data which the banks and mobile operators has already gathered with them ?

Mandatory linking of Aadhaar has been denied for school admissions and enrolling in UGC and CBSE exams. The restrictions  have been placed on its use by private companies—including payment banks, technology  firms—that relied on Aadhaar-based know-your-customer (KYC) norms for digital authentication.

See the horoscope of Lunar Eclipse of 27/28 July 2018 where the Moon is in the 9th house of Supreme Court along with 7th lord Mars showing major judgements in marriage and sex related matters. Apart from it also notice the lagan lord Venus in the 4th house and the 4th lord Sun in mutual aspect with the Moon and 7th lord Mars showing important judgement concerning with general public. The 4th house in mundane astrology relates with ‘people in general’. The Aaadhaar judgement will have very diverse effects in different areas of the lives of common Indian people. The government of India may come up with some legislation or amendments in the Aaadhaar act to dilute the Supreme Court judgment in this case. The government may bring some law in the parliament to give legal backing to the private companies like banks and mobile operators to continue using Aaadhaar for consumer verification. Such use was banned by Supreme Court when it strike down the section  57 of Aaadhaar act.

See the Full Moon horoscope of 25th of September 2018 to understand the possible effects of the supreme court judgements given during this fortnight.

In the Full Moon horoscope for the 25th of September 2018 notice the strong 9th lord Mercury with 11th lord Sun in the 12th house in mutual aspect with 10th lord Moon. The 4th ( people in general) and 5th lord Saturn aspect the 9th house and the 9th lord showing these historic judgement after the Full Moon of 25th of September 2018. In Navamsha the Scorpio sign is rising and the 9th lord Moon is strong in the 11th house. The 9th lord Moon in the Navamsha chart is in mutual aspect with lagan lord Mars and the 10th lord Sun. The judgements in Aaadhaar case, Sabrimala temple case, Adultery case and Ram Temple case are path breaking in the history of Independent India.

Now also notice the close degree conjunction of Mars and Ketu in the 4th house which also signifies buildings and structures apart from many other significations. This combination can give a destructive earthquake during this fortnight in the North-West direction of the country signify by the Capricorn or Makar Rashi. The Mars is in Shravana Nakshatra which specially related with the states of Punjab (both in India and Pakistan) and also Himachal Pradesh where this strong earthquake may strike. There shall also be danger of some border clashes between the armies of India and Pakistan on the North-West borders.

Identical Horoscopes, Contrasting Destinies- A case study through divisional horoscopes

September 6, 2018 By Sachin Malhotra

Sage Parashara in his Bhriat Parashara Hora Shastra has discussed 16 different types of divisional horoscope or varga charts. Astrologers use these divisional horoscopes or varga charts to see the strength of planets and for analysis the different aspects of a native’s life. These divisional horoscopes are useful when we have to interpret the results of Nakshatra Dasha’s like Vimshottari, Astottari, Dwisaptati Sama Dasha, Chathura Sheeti Sama Dasha etc. In case of Rashi Dasha’s like Chara Dasha or Mandooka Dasha we only use the Rashi chart mainly. The Sages has given various Navamsha Dasha’s to apply then on Navamsha chart.

In modern times many astrologers have stopped using many of the divisional horoscopes which is not a correct practice when they are mainly relaying on the Nakshatra dasha such as Vimshottari. Such practice can led to lots of confusion if one come across the horoscopes of twins or a pair of identical horoscopes.

The identical horoscope are the one where two natives have similar Rashi charts due to their birth on the same date and around the same time but in the different families. In that case the rising sign ( ascendant) is similar but it is the divisional horoscopes and the background of the native’s families that make the difference in their destinies. I have 4 such pairs of identical horoscopes out of which one case I am going to discuss in this paper.

Study of Divisional horoscopes or Varga Charts

Case 1. Male

        16 June 1984, 11:00 a.m. at Hyderabad (Telangana)

        Longitude- 78E 28’ and Latitude- 17N 23’

Divisional horoscopes or Varga charts

Case 2. Female

16 June 1984, 11:35 hours at Ludhiana (Punjab)

        Longitude: 75E 51’ and Latitude: 30N 54’

Divisional horoscopes or Varga charts

In the two horoscopes given above the Rashi chart and the planetary position is similar due to the proximity in the birth time of these nativities. In the  case 1 the native (male) was born in a rich family of Hyderabad. He was excellent in his studies but couldn’t pursue a career due to a very serious kidney aliment. He had to undergo a kidney transplant in year 2007 and was not able to recover property. He is master’s in Bio-Chemistry and is a very talented painter but didn’t have any career because of frequent illness. He is having dialyses 3 times in a day and has not yet got married. The case 2 is of a female native which has the similar Rashi chart to the case 1 given above. However, due to the difference of 35 minutes in their birth time and an entirely different place of birth the degrees of rising sign are not the same. Thus the rising sign in the various divisional charts are different in both cases. In Bhava Kundali the position of Sun, Moon and Venus has changed in case of the female native. She is having sound health and is living a happy married life  in abroad. She was born in a middle class family of Ludhiana and got married at very young age of 23 years. She went to Australia with her husband in 2010. She is a mother of two children now and enjoying a comfortable life thanks to the successful career of her husband. These two nativities have identical Rashi charts but their destinies are contrasting which an astrologer can only understand with the help of divisional horoscopes. Let’s us analysis the various aspects of their lives with the help of divisional horoscopes.

Bhava Chalit or Bhava Kundali analysis:

Divisional horoscopes or Varga charts

Divisional horoscopes or Varga charts

In the Leo lagna chart the Moon is in the 6th house of disease. In the Bhava Chalit of male chart it has retain its position in the 6th house which made him suffer mentally due to a serious illness. But in case of female native the Moon has move into the 5th house joining Jupiter there giving her a peaceful life. Also notice the change in the position of Sun and Venus in the Bhava-Chalit of female horoscope it has moved into the 10th house joining a benefic Mercury there. The lagna lord Sun in the 10th house of Bhava-Chalit along with benefics Mercury and Venus is giving strength to the ascendant.

Navamsha Chart or D-9 analysis  :

Now analysis the Navamsha chart of these two natives separately and also in corroboration with the Rashi chart to understand why one of them had a life threatening illness whereas the other had the normal health. In the Leo lagna Rashi chart the lagna lord Sun is in degree conjunction with Venus and Gulika. They are under the aspect of Jupiter which is retrograde and is himself under the bad aspect of retrograde Saturn. A retrograde benefic coming under the aspect of a retrograde malefic tend to loose its beneficence to some extent. So the aspect of Jupiter in this case is not very helpful. But then why the male native suffer from kidney failure but the female native got the decent health with some little digestive problems only?

Divisional horoscopes or Varga charts

In Rahu-Jupiter period in 2007 the male native had to undergo a kidney transplant operation. See how the Navamsha chart revel this contrast in their respective destinies. In the case of male native the 12th house Cancer is rising in the Navamsha which is not very good. The bad houses 6,8 or 12th rising in any Varga chart tend to give bad results related with the signification of that Varga. Here in case of male native the Cancer is rising in the Navamsha chart with dasha lords Rahu and Jupiter both coming under the bad effects of 8th lord Saturn’s aspect there. So during Rahu-Jupiter the native had to undergo a life threatening surgery. The Rahu-Jupiter period from April 2007 to September 2009 was difficult for the health of male native.

On the contrary the female native got married during the Rahu-Jupiter dasha in year 2008. Notice here the Libra, which is the 3rd house of Rashi chart, is rising as Navamsha of female native. Rahu the dasha lord is in the 7th house of marriage in the Navamsha chart of female native. The Saturn here becomes the lord of 4th and 5th house in case of Libra Navamsha of female native. So the aspect of Saturn on the dasha lords Rahu and Jupiter is not bad here in the case of this female native . Also notice here the change in the position of the Navamsha sign of Moon in both cases. In case of female the Moon has join the 5th and 4th lord Saturn in the 5th house of Navamsha which is making a good yoga for progeny. She became the mother of two kids; one born in 2012 (Rahu-Sautrn dasha) and the other in 2016 ( Rahu-Venus dasha). On the other hand the  male native is still unable to get marry due to his bad health. In Rahu-Venus dasha in 2016 his kidney’s got failed again and at present he is on dialysis 3 times a day waiting for another transplant surgery to get some respite.

Dwadamsha chart or D-12 :

Divisional horoscopes or Varga charts

Divisional horoscopes or Varga charts

The Dwadamsha charts (D-12) of these two natives revel the difference in the status of their families. In the case of male horoscope the Dwadamsha chart has rising sign Capricorn with its lord Saturn giving aspect to the ascendant. The 2nd house of Dwadamsha having Moon and Mercury under the aspect of Jupiter shows the fortune of his parents. The 9th lord Mercury here is conjoined with 7th lord Moon in a good Raja Yoga showing the high status of his father. The father of male native is a rich person having good monthly income from rent and micro-finance business. In Rashi chart, which is identical for both natives, the 9th lord Mars and the 5th lord Jupiter gives aspect to the 9th house of father.

Now the case of female native with Aries sign rising in the Dwadamsha (D-12) is telling an entirely different story. Her father was an employee in Indian Railway who got trapped in a scam and was jailed during Rahu-Saturn dasha from July 2009 to May 2012. He is still having hard time in managing the financial affairs after loosing his job and reputation in the court case. Notice the position of Saturn in the Rashi and Dwadamsha charts in the case of female native. Saturn is the lord of 6th house conjoined with the 9th lord Mars in Rashi chart. In Dwadamsha it is debilitated 10th and 11th lord in Aries ascendant. For Aries chart Saturn is a functional malefic. Its sub period during the major period of Rahu gave this native mental trauma due to the defame of her father.

Chathurathamsha (Destiny and house) or D-4  :

Divisional horoscopes or Varga charts

Divisional horoscopes or Varga charts

As per the Sage Parashara the Chathurathamsha (D-4) signifies luck, landed property and home comfort. Here in the case to these two natives the planetary position of the Chathurathamsha chart is entirely different. In case of male native as many as 5 planets are falling in the 6th and 8th houses of the Chathurathamsha chart where the sign Scorpio is rising. Mars the lord of Chathurathamsha lagna is falling in the 6th house along with 4th lord Saturn denying him luck and comfortable living. He is struggling with a life threatening kidney aliment at that age when he should have been making a good career for himself. In the 8th house of his Chathurathamsha the Jupiter, Venus and Sun are falling under the bad aspect of Saturn giving him a very uncomfortable living at home. He has to undergo dialysis 3 times in a day at his home due to his kidney illness.

Now see the Chathurathamsha chart of female native where Aquarius sign is rising with benefic Mercury placed in it under the auspicious aspect of Jupiter from the 5th house. It gave her a comfortable living in abroad along with her husband and children. Here the disposition of  planets are showing luck and happiness from home. The malefic Mars and Saturn are relegated into the 3rd house and benefic planets are in the trine houses. The 4th and 9th lord Venus is with the 7th lord Sun under the aspect of lagna and 12th lord Jupiter showing her settlement in abroad. She went abroad with her husband in 2010 when she was passing through Rahu-Saturn dasha in her horoscope. Saturn as the lord of 12th house in the 3rd house of movement is giving aspect to the 9th house and its lord showing foreign settlement during its sub-period.

Chathurvimshamsha or D-24  :

Divisional horoscopes or Varga charts

This divisional horoscope is to be seen for the education of a native. It has also been observed that the 5th house of the Navamsha chart also tells us about the inclination of the native to study a particular stream of education. Here in the above case the two natives has entirely different types of academic credentials. The male native has studied Msc. Bio Chemistry whereas the female native has done her MBA after the graduation in commerce. The male native has the very good professional skill of making paintings and he has earn some money from his hobby. The female native do not have such interest in artistic pursuits. Now to judge these facts astrologically we will have to see the Rashi, Navamsha and Chathuravimshamsha chart together and individually in both cases. Since Rashi chart is similar here so I will discuss the two concern divisional horoscope in more details.

In Rashi Chart the 5th lord Jupiter retrograde in mutual aspect with Sun and Venus is receiving the aspect of retrograde Saturn is mainly showing the combinations for the study of science stream. In case of male native this combination gets additional backing in the Navamsha chart where the 5th house receives the aspect of Saturn. In Chathuravimshamsha of male native the rising sign is Gemini with 5th house having Mars a technical planet. The 5th lord Venus here is in the sign of Mercury along with Sun, Saturn and Moon showing technical education. The influence of Saturn and Moon with the influence of Mars shows the education of Bio-Chemistry.

Now in the case of female native she studied commerce and did her MBA. Here the Navamsha and Chathuravimshamsha has combinations for the study of finance with the aspect of Jupiter on her 5th house of education. In her Libra Navamsha chart the Jupiter aspect the 5th house where Moon and Saturn are placed. In Chathuravimshasha there is a strong connection between 2nd (finance), 5th (education) and 7th (business) houses/lord which is a combination to study commerce and management related studies. Here in the Chathuravimshamsha of female native rising sign is Sagittarius with Jupiter the Karaka for management giving aspect to the 5th house of education. The 2nd lord Saturn aspect the 7th house of business. The 7th lord Mercury is in the 2nd house of finance. The 2nd lord Mars aspect the 2nd house and the 5th house. Thus the connection between the 2nd house, 5th house and the 7th house in Chathuravimshamsha and the role of Jupiter (management) and Mercury ( commerce) gave her study of MBA.

Conclusion: The above case study is an  example highlighting  the paramount importance of divisional horoscopes to study the various aspects of a native’s life and to forecast how, when and in which direction the flow of ‘life force’ will take him/her during his life time. If we ignore the divisional horoscopes then the Rashi chart can merely depict the general trends of the life of a native which is sufficient to make predictions but it can not tell about his growth of consciousness and various other factors of his life in details. There are more than 7 billions people living on this planet out of these millions would have been sharing the identical horoscopes having similar Rashi chart like in the above case study. So if an astrologer is simply giving his predictions by looking at the Rashi chart only and not taking divisional horoscopes into considerations then he is giving  fluke projections  only by not properly studying the nativity on the astrological grounds suggested by Sage Parashara. An astrologer must also be well -versed with the techniques of birth time rectification in astrology.

Astrological Yogas For Spirituality

September 1, 2018 By Sachin Malhotra

The classical astrological texts of Hindus have discussed very less on the aspect of judging the purpose of one’s life. Most of the classical astrological treaties, except the discourses of Rishi’s, were written by the astrologers in the courts of kings. There is no surprise that these texts have deal mostly with the materialistic aspect of human life and paying less attention to astrological yogas for spirituality . Only some hints about the spiritual evolution of a native have been given here and there in some verses in the form of very few astrological combinations. These astrological text doesn’t give any specific methodology following which an astrologer may predict whether a native  have the potentials to develop his consciousness in his lifetime or his soul may fall below at  level at which it is in his present birth.

{ Note: This article of mine was published in the June 2018 issue of Express Star Teller Magazine. The same has been reproduce here for the readers of my blog }

Take an example of great Varahamihir’s Bhriat Jataka which is an exhaustive astrological work written in the 6th century in Ujjain. The Varahamihir has deal with almost every aspect of predictive astrology but have  discuss the combinations of spirituality in only  4 stanza’s in a chapter ‘Pravajya Yoga Adhayaa’. This is the case with almost every classical text of Hindu astrology which gives more value to the worldly aspects of human life leaving or perhaps deliberately hiding the area of spiritual growth which is the most important part to judge in a horoscope. It could be for the reason that the combinations of spirituality in a horoscope would have been kept secret by the sages or may be it would have been taught to few deserving disciples only. Spiritual astrology has been the most neglected and secretive part of Hindu astrology which had remains only in the traditions not coming out in public domain. Before I go more into this subject let me give some of the classical combination of spirituality given by Sage Parashara and Acharya Varahamihira in their texts.

  1. Four or more planets in a house create a yoga for renunciation (Sanyasa ). These planets should not be combust by Sun or involve in a planetary war. In this combination if the planet is combust then such person is interested in spirituality but do not take renunciation. If any planet is defeated in a planetary war then the person came back after taking the renunciation. As per some classical text if the 10th lord from lagna is involve in this combination then the native become a famous monk or Sanyasi.
  2. If the Rashi lord of Moon (depositor of Moon ) is not receiving the aspect of any planet and gives its aspect to the Saturn only or receives the aspect from Saturn only then also the renunciation take place.
  3. If a weak Moon is in Dreshkkan of Saturn and receives the aspect of Saturn only and/ or it is in the Navamsha of Saturn or Mars receiving the aspect by Saturn only then also the renunciation take place.
  4. In the Cancer, Sagittarius or Pisces lagna if Saturn aspect the ascendant and  Jupiter is in the 9th house this also make a combination of renunciation. Similarly if Saturn aspect the lagna, Moon and Jupiter in case of Cancer, Sagittarius or Pisces lagna rising  then also the renunciation take place.
  5. If the Saturn is in the 9th house devoid of the aspect by any planet and there are some good Raja Yogas in the horoscope then the native even be a king can get initiated to be a monk or sanyasi.
  6. In the Stri-Jataka Adhayaa a Sanyasa yoga has also been given which is applicable for both women and men. As per this yoga if a malefic is in the 7th house and there is a planet in the 9th house then the ‘Sanayasa’ or renunciation take place as per the nature of that planet.

Apart from the above mention yogas a classical text ‘Jamini Sutram’ also gives some astrological combination based on the position of planets from Karakamsha telling the type of deity a native may worship. Those yogas may also be taken into account using them liberally to judge the spiritual inclination in a horoscope. The ‘Pancha-Mahapurusha Yoga’ and ‘Muni Yoga’ are also found in the horoscope of many spiritually inclined persons. The ‘Pancha-Mahapurusha Yoga’ is formed when any planet except luminaries (Sun and Moon)  is in Kendra houses ( 1, 4, 7 or 10) in its sign of exaltation or in its own sign. The Mars, Mercury, Jupiter , Venus and Saturn form this yoga. The ‘Muni yoga’ is created when the lagna lord is in conjunction with the lord of Navamsha lagan in the lagan itself.  This yoga is rarely found in  horoscope.

My astrology teacher Shri K.N. Rao has ‘Muni Yoga’ in his horoscope of Tula (Libra) lagan. He has Venus in the ascendant along with Mars which is the lord of his Navamsha lagna which is Aries. Thus in his Libra lagna and the Aries Navamsha chart the ‘Muni yoga’ is formed due to conjunction of Venus and Mars in the ascendant. He also has two Mahapurusha Yoga’s in his horoscope. Venus in the lagan in its own sign Libra and Jupiter in Cancer in its sign of exaltation at the 10th house.   Now I will discuss some of the astrological combination which I have observed on the horoscopes of persons engaged in religious or spiritual practices.

  • The connection of Dhrama trikona i.e. 1, 5 and 9 houses/lords with the Moksha trikona 4, 8 and 12 is a prominent combination which can take a native towards spiritual growth.
  • The Ketu placed in the 12th house from Moon can give good level of intuitive ability. If this Ketu receives the aspect of Jupiter then this yoga become more prominent and such a person can practice deep meditation.
  • Ketu in the 12th from Janma lagna and/or Karakamsha under the aspect of benefic planet also give spiritual inclination.
  • The close conjunction of Ketu and Jupiter in Dharma trikona or Moksha Trikona also gives interest in spirituality. The Jupiter and the trine houses must be strong in this yoga.
  • The conjunction of Sun and Jupiter gives one an inclination to serve at the places of worship or even construct a place of worship.
  • A pure Jupiter in Pisces or Aquarius Rashi or in the Navamsha of Pisces or Aquarius if aspect the 5th house, 9th house or ascendant such person is spiritually inclined.
  • In the maha dasha of 5th lord or 9th lord or planet associated with these houses lords especially if they are benefic planets makes one spiritually or religiously inclined during the operation of such dashas.
  • The maha dasha of Rahu or Ketu associated with 5th or 9th lord and receiving the aspect of Jupiter is also helpful in spiritual growth.
  • If the 5th lord is not associated with any planet and gives aspect to the 9th and/or 12th house only then during the dasha of such 5th lord a native may get inclined towards spirituality and follow a path of ‘Sadhana’ dedicatedly. If such 5th lord is crowded with many planets or receives the aspect of many planets then the person practices the spiritual exercises of different traditions.
  • A Kemadruma Moon is also helpful in spiritual growth as when Moon is not associated with any planet the mind of a person becomes introvert. But a Kemadruma Moon is only a supporting factor which should be backed with other combinations of spiritual growth.
  • A pure Venus in the Rashi and Navamsha of Leo or Virgo gives freedom from materialistic attraction. If such Venus is combust then it is good for spiritual life. Venus in Leo or Virgo associated with Jupiter is also very helpful in spiritual life as it relieve a person from lustful thoughts.
  • The dasha periods of Rahu-Venus or Venus-Rahu , Jupiter-Venus or Venus-Jupiter, Saturn-Venus or Venus-Saturn should be carefully observed in the horoscope of a spiritual persons as these dasha periods are well known to bring transformation in life.
  • The Bhava Chalit Kundali should be seen to judge the mental inclination of a native. The yogas in the Rashi chart tell about a person’s outer personality. The Navamsha and Bhava Kundali give details about the inner being of the native. How a person is from inside is to be judge using the Navamsha and Bhava Chalit chart.
  • The concentration of planets in Leo, Aquarius and Pisces rishi’s and/or Navamsha’s should be carefully marked. The Leo is the rashi of Bramacharya (celibacy ) , Aquarius signifies ‘Dharma and Charity’ and the Pisces is the Moksha karaka (salvation) rashi.
  • Notice the planets in ‘Sarpa Drekkan’ for spiritual inclination. The 2nd and 3rd Drekkana of Cancer, 1st and 2nd Drekkana of Scorpio and 3rd Drekkana of Pisces are Sarpa Drekkana.
  • The retrograde planets in the trine ( 1,5 and 9) houses gives the practices of Tantra.
  • The lagan lord in mutual aspect, conjunction or exchange with the Moon sign lord is a yoga making one highly focused towards a particular task or act. If this yoga is present in the chart of a spiritual person then he become highly attentive and sincere towards his Sadhana. Such person can also practice ‘Hatha Yoga’ because of high level of concentration develop in their personality.

Now I will discuss some cases of the persons whom I have personally known to be involve in spiritual practices.

Case 1. Male

Balance of Dasha in Vimshottari: 0 years 9 months 28 days

This Cancer lagna horoscope is of an OSHO’s Sanyasi who is practicing meditation since 1989. In his Rashi chart the conjunction of four planets ( Sun,Mercury,Venus and Jupiter) is a classical yoga for renunciation. In this yoga planets are not combust with Sun which is good. Moon is in the Dreshkkan of Saturn and receives the aspect of Saturn which is also a Sanyasa yoga. Venus in Leo Rashi and Virgo Navamsha is associated with Jupiter which makes a person’s mind free from lust and sexual thoughts to a large extent. The 5th and 10th lord Mars in the Sarpa Drekkana is also good for spiritual inclination.

The native  was born in the wealthy family of businessman in South Delhi. The concentration of four planets in the 2nd house of wealth and an exalted lagna lord in the 11th house of gains amply explain his birth in a rich family. He himself started doing business at a very young age of just 18 years. A turning point in his life came during Rahu-Venus period ( January 1988 to January 1991) when he read a book of OSHO  in 1990. For many days he was kept crying and become desperate to know the purpose of his life. He went to the Ashram of OSHO in Pune sometimes in the mid of 1991 which was about six months after the soul of Osho had left this world. The dasha of Rahu placed in the 9th house and later the maha dasha of Jupiter ( from June 1994 to June 2010) enhanced his spiritual journey. He lived in Pune Ashram of OSHO for many years and also managed his business in Delhi by his visits there.

Now notice here that in Bhava Chalit the 2nd lord Sun has moved into the ascendant joining the 10th and 5th lord yogakaraka Mars. The conjunction of Sun and Mars in the ascendant of Bhava Chalit didn’t give him mental inclination to leave the business though he had the ‘Sanyasa’ yoga in the birth chart. Later in 2007 during his Jupiter-Rahu dasha in Vimshottari he moved to USA. He is at present teaching meditation to people in USA through classes conducted at his sprawling home near New York. The 10th lord Mars in the ascendant also gave him earnings from real estate in the USA and also from India. The planets in the 2nd and 11th house from his ascendant show his ‘karmic account’ deeply connected  with wealth. The native has his views about living his life by responding to the present moment and trying to remain conscious with every action he performs.

Case 2. Male born on 26 July 1950, 20:37 hours at Delhi

Balance of Dasha in Vimshottari: Ketu 3 years 10 months 23 days

The Aquarius lagna horoscope given here is of a retired class I officer who is into spiritual practices since his childhood. Born in a Brahmin family he was initiated into the knowledge of Geeta and Upanishada’s since the age of 6 years by his father who was in army then. The rising sign in the ascendant is Aquarius a rashi of Dharma fortified by strong Jupiter. The lagna lord Saturn is in Leo a sign of Bhramacharya. Notice here the depositor of Moon which is Jupiter  receiving the aspect of Saturn only which is a ‘Sanyasa’ yoga. Moon is in Kemadruma yoga and is in mutual aspect with 9th lord Venus which gave him mental inclination towards religious learning’s since childhood.

During the dasha of 9th lord Venus ( from June  1954 to June 1974) he was brilliant in his studies and remained religiously inclined. Venus here receives the aspect of Jupiter in Rashi chart and in Navamsha it is conjoined with Jupiter which gave him great knowledge of spiritual texts. In the maha dasha of Sun ( from June 1974 to June 1980) he got a government job in 1975 and later got married on 29th of January 1977 during Sun-Jupiter dasha.  Saturn is in the 7th house of Rashi chart which would have delayed his marriage but in Bhava Chalit it has moved into the 8th house and Mercury has come in the 7th house. A benefic coming in the 7th house in Bhava Chalit shows mental inclination towards leading a happy married life. Though the malefic planets in the 6th, 7th and 8th houses of Rashi chart gave him problems with his in-laws and also kept his wife ill.

The maha dasha of Moon ( June 1980 to June 1990) was the best period of his spiritual life. He met many Saints while travelling during his postings into different cities. Moon is in the sign of Jupiter in the Kemadruma yoga. Moon is in mutual aspect with the  9th lord Venus from the 5th house of ‘Mantra Siddhi’. The depositor of Moon is Jupiter which is in ‘Sanyasa’ yoga as it receives the aspect of Saturn only. In Navamsha the Moon is the 9th lord in mutual aspect with Saturn which has to be good for spiritual progress. In 1986 he took an oath of speaking truth only. Because of this he had many clashes with his corrupt co-workers in the office. The 6th lord Moon has to give him troubles with enemies and intrigues. In the dasha of Vargottama 10th lord Mars in the 8th house ( from June 1990 to June 1997) he become the class I officer. This period was also good for his ‘Sadhana’ as Mars in the 8th house is the house of ‘Samadhi’ in spiritual astrology. Later the dasha of Rahu ( from June 1997 to June 2015) gave him some health issues related with eyes as Rahu in the 2nd house shows. He is also a very good astrologer and now days spend time in his ‘Sadhana’ during his Jupiter maha dasha.

Now I will take some of the horoscopes of famous spiritual personalities briefly explaining the classical combinations which I had given in the beginning of the article.

Case 3. Horoscope  OSHO or Acharya Rajneesh

Longitude: 78 E 33’ and Latitude: 23 N 04’

Balance of Dasha in Vimshottari: Venus 6 years 6 months 1 days

In the Vrishabha lagna horoscope of OSHO or Acharya Rajneesh five planets are conjoined in the 8th house making a ‘Sanyasa’ yoga. The 8th house is the house of mystical subjects and from here all these planets aspects the 2nd house of speech. OSHO had given his discourses on almost all the famous religious philosophies, enlightened personalities and modern psychologist of the world. His discourses were compiled in the form of more than 650 books. OSHO also had a positive outlook towards the spiritual aspects of astrology. According to him astrology should be taken as a science to judge the possibilities or potentials for the growth of consciousness in a human being rather than making predictions about materialistic matters in the life. Every astrologer must read or listen to the OSHO’s discourse “ Astrology: The science of cosmic oneness” which is available on the internet.

Now coming back to OSHO’s horoscope the five planets conjoined in his 8th house includes the 10th lord Saturn in a good Raja Yoga which made him world famous. When in a Sanyasa yoga the 10th lord is included and a Raja Yoga is also there then the native become a famous Guru or religious teacher inspiring thousands of people towards the path of spiritual illumination. Among these planets none except Mars is combust which is also within a distance of about 13 degrees from the Sun. The Mars gets combust when it is within a longitude of 17 degrees from the Sun’s longitude. If we remove Mars from this yoga then also the four planets conjoined together, none of them being combust from Sun, makes a complete ‘Sanyasa Yoga’. In the maha dasha of Rahu ( June 1961 to June 1979) placed in the 11th house OSHO travelled across India as a public speaker on spirituality and initiated thousands of people into various methods of meditation.

His criticism of socialism, Mahatama Gandhi and orthodoxy in religions gave him a lot of opposition from various sections of the society. He was labeled as ‘Sex Guru’ by the media because of his open attitude towards human sexuality. Ironically among his thousands of discourses only very few like ‘From sex to super consciousness’  is on the subject of transforming sexual energy towards spirituality. Even though he was defamed as ‘sex Guru’ ignoring his contribution in divulging some rare meditation techniques.  See the cluster of planets in the 10th house from Rahu; its dasha has to put him in the limelight in the field of spirituality. Rahu receives the aspect of Jupiter in both Rashi and Navamsha charts. In the dasha of Rahu from June 1961 to June 1979 OSHO dare all the controversies and his movement was very successfully running. Rahu is also very strongly placed in the ascendant of Vimshamsha chart ( D-20) which is seen for spiritual growth.

But when the dasha of 8th lord Jupiter came in June 1979 OSHO start getting into troubles due to intrigues among his followers and his own ill-health. Jupiter is though exalted in the 3rd house but it is in ‘Sarpa Drekkan’ which gives bad health though consider good for spirituality. Jupiter is also in a bad exchange with 3rd lord Moon which is in the 8th house. The dasha of Jupiter from June 1979 to June 1995 has to be fatal for OSHO. In 1981 the increased tensions around the Poona Ashram forced OSHO to relocate himself in Oregon USA. But very soon OSHO’s commune ran into trouble with local residence, state government and authorities of USA. His followers were accused for bio-terror attack, assassination plots of a judge and breaking immigration rules. OSHO was arrested in 1985 and deported back. It happened during Jupiter-Mercury dasha in Vimshottari. OSHO later said that he was perhaps given a slow poison during the custody which caused him various health issues troubling him until he left his mortal coil. Notice here the cluster of 5 planets in the 6th house from the dasha lord Jupiter which is the lord of 8th house under the 8th aspect of 7th lord Mars a primary ‘Maraka’ for Vrishabha lagna.  Mercury is the lord of 2nd house a ‘Maraka’ explains it astrologically. OSHO was denied entry by 21 countries and later he came back to Pune where he stayed until his last breath on 19 January 1990. OSHO left this world at the age of 58 during his Jupiter-Moon dasha in Vimshottari. Jupiter and Moon are in a bad exchange of 3rd and 8th houses.

Case 4: Horoscope of  Rama krishna Paramhamsa

Balance of Dasha in Vimshottari: Jupiter 13 years 1 months 26 days

The Kumbha (Aquarius) lagna horoscope of Rama Krishna Paramhamsa is a classic example of ‘Sanyasa’ yoga by Moon. In the Navamsha Moon is in the sign of Mars receiving the aspect of Saturn which is a yoga for renunciation. The Rashi chart of Rama Krishna is extraordinary with the presence of 3 exalted planets and untainted Jupiter and Venus. The strong Jupiter in the 5th house gave him  disciples like Swami Vivekananda and Swami  Brahmananda who made Ramkrishna Mission grew worldwide. Notice here the pure  Venus in Pisces rashi and Virgo Navamsha; Rama Krishna Paramhamsha worshipped his wife Sarada Devi has ‘holy mother’ performing ‘Shodasi Puja’ where she was made to sit at the seat of ‘goddess Kali’.

The position of 9th lord Venus in the horoscope of Rama Krishna Paramhamsa is very rare. In Vimshamsha (D-20) the Venus becomes the 5th lord (Sadhana) in the 9th house along with 2nd (Samskar) lord Moon. The Rama Krishna Paramhamsa, born as Gadhadhar, was initiated into the knowledge of scriptures through spiritual discourses, plays, songs and from the family members  during the dasha of Jupiter till he turned 13 years of age ( in 1849). Later during the 19 years long dasha of Saturn, which is exalted in the 9th house of Dharma, he performed  many “Sadhana’s” of different orientations. The retrograde planets in the trine also have him ‘tantra Sadhana’. Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn are retrograde in trine houses.

It has been observed that retrograde planets in the trine gives spiritual practices of  ‘tantra’. Also notice the Navamsha exchange between Moon and Mars which is a Parivartan yoga of 5th and 8th houses lords in Navamsha showing the practice of occult sciences. Ramkrishna performed  Gaudiya Vaishnavism Bhakti, Vamachara (left hand path or Tantra) , Kundalini Yoga, Advait Vedanta etc during the dasha of Saturn from 1849 to 1868. He also practiced some sufi Sadhana and Christian Sadhana for a brief period during the early part of Mercury dasha. Rama Krishna’s spiritual life was exceptional in the sense that he performed ‘Sadhana’s’ from different school of thoughts with unflinching devotion. In the dasha of 5th lord Mercury from 1868 to 1885 he got some great disciples. In the dasha of Ketu-Venus he took ‘Samadhi’ on 16 August 1886. The depositor of Ketu is Mars which is in the 12th house. The anter dasha lord Venus is 9th lord in the 2nd house a ‘Maraka Bhava’.

Case 5. Horoscope of Swami Prabhupad

astrological yogas for spiritual growth

Balance of Dasha in Vimshottari: Mars 4 years 6 months 28 days

The horoscope of Bhakti Vedanta Swami Prabhupad, founder of ISKON, has an excellent combination of Jupiter and Sun which is a yoga for ‘temple building’ or forming a religious institute. Ketu with Jupiter in the ‘Moksha trine’ is a yoga for spirituality. The exalted lagna lord Saturn in the 10th house is a ‘Maha Purush’ yoga. The connection of lagna and 10th house is also present in the Dashamsha chart where the 10th lord Moon is in the ascendant. If in a horoscope of spiritual personality such connection of lagna and 10th houses/lords is present in both Rashi and Dashamsha then he himself form an institution. During the dasha of Mercury ( from 1954to 1971) exalted in the 9th house along with 5th lord Venus (devotional Bhakti) he spread his message of ‘Radha Krishna Bhakti’ worldwide. He made translated ‘Gita’ and ‘Srimad Bhagwat’ into English and formed ISKON ( International Society for Krishna Consciousness). An exalted Moon in the 5th house and Venus-Mercury conjunction in the 9th shows his love for ‘Vaishnav Bhakti’. In the Dashamsha Mercury is the lord of 9th and 12th houses conjoined with Jupiter and Ketu showing his sublime spiritual message being spread worldwide through devotional means. Later he came back to Vrindavan and took Samadhi during his Ketu-Mercury dasha in Vimshottari on 14th November 1977.
